I'm sure there are better ways to spend infinite mana than mistcutter hydra.
Infinite mana with the combo also gives you infinite untaps. Maybe Bane Alley Broker to help dig for pieces, then dig for a kill once you go off? Or red for Zhur-Taa Druid and possibly Hammer of Purphoros?
I'm actually liking Zhur-Taa druid a lot. Gives devotion for Acolyte while also being a kill and an accelerant.
I was about to post something along these lines and found this thread when checking to see if it was already being discussed. As mentioned, the Zhur-Taa Druid version of the combo is the simplest - 3 card combo that can go off as early as turn four. Of course you have to wait around a whole turn with two 1/1 creatures exposed so it is probably pretty fragile.
There are also a whole bunch of variants for each piece of the combo, which could allow for a lot of redundancy. I was thinking of building this off a defender shell featuring Axebane Guardian - similar to some of the Axebane Guardian / Galvanic Alchemist combo decks pre-Theros.
Other possible instants are Burst of Strength and Savage Surge - but with only one target, you need to either add in [card]
Illusionist's Bracers[/card] or use the Guildmage and Axebane with a ton of defenders backing him up.
So not sure which variants to build around. It is looking like UG base with splashes of Red and White - but Axebane and Caryatid would help with the color fixing. Would also want some protection for the combo and Swan Song certainly looks good - and may want Hover Barrier for protection from flyers, while still boosting Axebane. Any ideas on what a deck might look like?
Commune lets you dig for a creature combo piece and potentially dumps an instant combo piece into the graveyard, which can then get picked up by mnemonic wall...
The wall could also be useful if you had to use your combo instant for utility before you actually combo off - then can pick it up again when you are ready to go off...
Thoughts???

4 Elite Arcanist
4 Elvish Mystic
4 Karametra's Acolyte
4 Mistcutter Hydra
4 Nylea, God of the Hunt
4 Sylvan Caryatid
3 Dissolve
3 Inspiration
2 Swan Song
4 Triton Tactics
4 Temple of Mystery
7 Island
7 Forest
Just a little something I came up with alongside some friends.
The way this works is by generating infinite mana by using Elite Arcanist, Triton Tactics and Karametra's Acolyte with another green permanent out, then eventually Mistcutter Hydra for a lot or pump infinitely with Nylea.
Infinite mana with the combo also gives you infinite untaps. Maybe Bane Alley Broker to help dig for pieces, then dig for a kill once you go off? Or red for Zhur-Taa Druid and possibly Hammer of Purphoros?

Turn 1 - Mountain
Turn 2 - Forest, Zhur-Taa druid
Turn 3 - Island, Elite Arcanist (imprint Triton Tactics)
Turn 4 - Infinite ping
There are also a whole bunch of variants for each piece of the combo, which could allow for a lot of redundancy. I was thinking of building this off a defender shell featuring Axebane Guardian - similar to some of the Axebane Guardian / Galvanic Alchemist combo decks pre-Theros.
I see three different possible finishers:
Zhur-Taa druid, Doorkeeper, and Lobber Crew
The three mana dorks:
Zhur-Taa druid, Axebane Guardian, and Sylvan Caryatid (Other mana dork options include Gyre Sage and Karametra's Acolyte)
Three different "copiers": Elite Arcanist, Meletis Charlatan , and Nivix Guildmage
Two different untap instants: Triton Tactics and Ready / Willing (Ready)
Other possible instants are Burst of Strength and Savage Surge - but with only one target, you need to either add in [card]
Illusionist's Bracers[/card] or use the Guildmage and Axebane with a ton of defenders backing him up.
So of the ways the combo could go:
elite arcanist + triton tactics + zhur-taa druid (as shown above)
elite arcanist + triton tactics + axebane guardian + doorkeeper = infinite mill
elite arcanist + triton tactics + axebane guardian + lobber crew = infinite ping
meletis charlatan + triton tactics + zhur-taa druid + axebane guardian + 1 other defender
meletis charlatan + triton tactics + axebane gaurdian + doorkeeper + 2 other defenders
meletis charlatan + triton tactics + axebane gaurdian + lobber crew + 2 other defenders
nivix guildmage + ready + zhur-taa druid + axebane guardian + caryatid
nivix guildmage + ready + axebane guardian + lobber crew + caryatid
nivix guildmage + ready + axebane guardian + doorkeeper + caryatid
meletis charlatan + ready + zhur-taa druid + 2 other mana dorks
meletis charlatan + ready + axebane guardian + doorkeeper + caryatid
meletis charlatan + ready + axebane guardian + lobber crew + mana dork/defender
meletis charlatan + ready + lobber crew + 3 mana producers
So not sure which variants to build around. It is looking like UG base with splashes of Red and White - but Axebane and Caryatid would help with the color fixing. Would also want some protection for the combo and Swan Song certainly looks good - and may want Hover Barrier for protection from flyers, while still boosting Axebane. Commune with the Gods and Mnemonic Wall
Commune lets you dig for a creature combo piece and potentially dumps an instant combo piece into the graveyard, which can then get picked up by mnemonic wall...
The wall could also be useful if you had to use your combo instant for utility before you actually combo off - then can pick it up again when you are ready to go off...
