Post Rotation Sac Outlet

  • #1
    Hey
I'm building a 'Necropotence' deck for standard using Dark Prophecy in place of the real thing. For this I of course need sac engines. I have a playset of Cartel Aristocrats, but I'm not sure what to do for the second one. It needs to be in B/W colors and I would like for it to be legal for post rotation.

I'll list the cards that I feel I can make use of, for some advice.
    Blood Bairn
    Gnawing Zombie
    Vampire Warlord
    Bubbling Cauldron
    Undercity Informer
    Maw of the Obzedat
    Corpse Blockade

What is my best option? Thank you

It'd help to tag the cards .

In this situation, you're simply going to want to choose the cheapest one whose sac. ability is cost-less. Something like Gnawing Zombie and Bubbling Cauldron are nice because they can mitigate the life loss of Dark Prophecy but obviously the whole point is to combo off and you don't want to be limited by your mana. Naturally, this leaves Blood Bairn and Corpse Blockade as your optimal options. Personally, I'd go with Blood Bairn because the ability stacks and it can grow rather large much like Bloodthrone Vampire. Hope this helps.

Disclaimer: Unless I state otherwise, I'm referring to standard.

Ah yes, thank you and sorry. I forgot to do that.

if you're willing to add a third color, Varolz, the Scar Striped is a good sac outlet.

That's a good idea. After I test my deck for a bit I might include/splash green for him and maybe a few other cards.

One thing though: If I were to have a token die, can I scavenge the token for the small time that it's in the graveyard?

Nope. They enter the grave, then the next time state-based actions are checked they cease to exist. So you would never gain priority to scavenge them.

Young Pyromancer is an engine. You sac something else, he creates a token. Then, you can continually sac the token to create more tokens. Of course, that requires you to be using instants/sorceries and red, as well. Tenacious Dead could be abused in the right deck as well.
