I recently decided to make the plunge into Standard (been playing mostly casual EDH with friends), and I'm having a few issues with deck creation. I've toyed with Travis Woo's Izzet Blitz, and I really like the way the deck plays, but most of it is going to be rotated out come September.
I'm a newer player (I came in during Gatecrash / Dragon's Maze), so I've got a somewhat limited knowledge of cards / terminology.
That being said, I was wondering if anyone knew of a deck that plays similar to the Blitz that won't be as heavily gutted by rotation, or if there's a guide to making a similar deck. Also, what are your thoughts on the deck?
Yeah, I'd like to make something similar. Problem is, Core 2014 was pretty garbage in terms of attempting to fix the holes in the deck.
Do you know of a deck that plays somewhat similar?
Huh? Young Pyromancer is basically the two-drop we wanted in Blue & Red, allows us to cut green for those of us using Quirion Dryad with the RUG version. Quicken potentially is also a very powerful card as it cycles itself for one mana while creating a very powerful effect. These two cards are enough to get us excited about the deck's future potential.

I see! So it is possible to fiddle with the deck and reconstruct it. How does Young Pyromancer fit into the deck? It just seems like a defensive card, pumping out weenie blockers. The deck itself seems to be built upon speed, if I'm playing it right.
Also, Quicken allows for a second cast of a spell, sure... but almost every non-creature spell in the deck is being rotated out come September. Not to mention, at maximum you'll be playing 4 quickens so you'll end up having to replace the flashback cards somehow. (Then again, I don't have much experience so 4 quickens might do the trick?)
Anyway, I'd love to hear your thoughts on replacements and how the new interactions with Quicken work. As I read it, it allows for two casts of the same spell, once at sorcery speed and once at instant speed. Is this correct? (I'm a noob.)
Many of Bant Hexproof's cards will also be rotating. I am unsure if you can have a deck with the same feel as Izzet Blitz after rotation. If rotation is a primary concern of yours I would suggest looking into Naya Zoo and Mono-Red (or red splashing white/green). Those decks will survive relatively intact, and aggressive strategies are usually successful in a young format.

Thanks for the input.

Thanks! Just gave the deck a look, seems fun. I'll give it a shot!
