My girlfriend is running a deck very very simlar to this except shes running Vraska instead of Garruk... Its working pretty well as it can (with the right hand) keep up with most all aggro because of Strangle's, Oozes, and Dregs... and then curve out with the silverhearts. She says shes only really seen issues with heavy Resto/thrag/terminus builds and funnily enough token decks that just chump block her all day and fly right over... If you happen to come across those, i would recommend either illness in the ranks or a Silklash spider. Either way though let us know how you do!
Updated list, deck went 2-2, but this week there was a lot of aggro decks and I wont on lucky basis, I have found the deck posted before was a turn slower then any R/x Aggro, the games I lost they had 1-2 HP, a result of being a touch slower.
This is the revised list (actually this is my GF's list, I've been borowing her deck)
We re-built the +1/+1 counter abuse deck she loves
One problem encountered is stabilising health vs aggro. We were thinking about adding Gift of Orzhova as a 2 of as it also helps vs flyers and adds reach (swap 2 rancor for it most likely)
Thought I would post my deck-list, after continually using this forum to help my deck. I am usually able to place top 5 in FNM's. I placed 1st at a tcg Bronze event on Sunday. Here's the breakdown:
RD 1 vs Selesyna Populate tokens:
Game 1: I won on turn 5 I believe. T1 - Arbor Elf, T2- Dreg Mangler for 3, T3 Goliath, T4- Rancor on Goliath + Abrupt Decay his Centaur healer, swing for 10, T5- handshake
Game 2: I saw more of his deck in this game. I didn't know exactly what to side in, but sided in a slip and abrupt decay for 2 trackers. He ended up going over me with Restos along with stabilizing with Trostani and centaur healers.
Game 3: I sided in trackers for his restos/trostani. I sided in Ranger's Guile for his Charms, and won with the tracker/Ooze combo.
Win 2-1
Rd 2 vs Naya Human Blitz:
Game 1: He wins die roll, and gets God hand. Handshake on turn 3 I believe.
T1-Champ, T2- BTE, BTE, Mayor, T3, Champion of the Paris, Mayor.
so that game was bad lol
Game 2: Very different game. I side out trackers and shamans, and side in abrupt decay and tragic slips. Was able to flood the field with 2 Ooze's, 1 Goliath, a Silverheart, and he was speechless after his early game stuff getting removed fast. I won btw
Game 3: I trampled over him very fast with 2 ooze's and 2 rancors with a troll blocking.
Along with a Soulbound Wolf to my ooze.
Win 2-1
Rd 3 vs Delver:
This match-up was pretty easy for me
Game 1: Pretty fast flood with Ooze + 2 Geists
Game 2: 1 Ooze and Goliath took it by turn 6 I believe
Win 2-0
RD 4: vs Esper Control
I won die roll
Game 1: T1 - Arbor Elf, T2- ooze, T3, Goliath, T4, geist, T5 - handshake. He didn't do much this game.
Game 2: I had a hard time this one. I sided in Appetite, Duress, Charms, Triumph of ferocity, and took out trackers, 1 slip, 3 goliaths, and a few other things. I had a slow start, along with bad plays, which bit me in the end. I should've played Triumph asap, instead I played an ooze T2, but realized I needed the card advantage. He ended up milling me in the end.
Game 3: This happened much like G1, except for more rancors. I think I took out rancors G2, so i sided in back in for more early damage, which helped me very much. I was able to get an arbor elf, then a Triumph of ferocity T2. I then put 2 rancors on elf, but he dissipated 1. I put 2nd one the next turn. I had 2 Ranger's guiles in hand to stop his charms, but they never came. Arbor Elf with 2 rancors ended winning it for me.
Win 2-1
I feel my deck packs early punch, along with resilience, as well as coming hard on turn 4 with a fast Soulbound Wolf. Everything is pretty similar to other Golgari aggro decks. Didn't realize how much typing went into this lol. Any questions on card choices, feel free to ask.

I like this a lot, i was recently playing the mono-green list that de tora wrote about a few weeks back and loved it, but i kept getting had by frontline medic without enough interaction so i'm splashing black this week to give it a shot, but i didn't want to give up my wolfirs for the deadbridge goliaths and i think a 3-3 split is a perfect way to go with it, and i'm glad to see that others use triumph of ferocity in the side, but has anyone considered triumph of cruelty in the side vs control instead, keeping them off cards starting on turn 3 seems better than just letting them get what they need off of sphinx's because if we attack each turn and they burn a land and a spell each turn assuming it isn't draw, and we ramp up to a cruelty on turn two following a turn 1 dork, then we can essentially eliminate their hand in about 3 turns by forcing them to be reactive before they even get off the sphinx's
Currently, I've been looking to change up the sideboard a bit. My LCS is filled with meh quality creature decks, and I'd love to punish them for it. I feel thragtusk, although incredible, is a bit reactive for my taste.
Instead, I want to add in a few Revenge of the Hunted. It is a monster of a card, and its provoke ability acts as yet another fight ability. I think it works, and with Ooze, it is just banannas. Taunting two of their mana dorks or a geist to block and feed my Ooze? Yes please.
let me advise you to go with either Duress or Appetite, according to the meta of your store. If everyone plays Esper control/Bant Control go with Durress. If you see more midrange, for sure Appetite. So I'd advise a 4 total in the SB for those 2. To go harder, I would recommend switching out Avengers for Silverhearts. Nothing like Soulbound to a Rancored Geist on T4. With the 2 spots you'd be saving from the cutdown of duress/AfB, I would put 2 Ranger's guiles. They help so much against Control, as well as slips/exiles against our ooze's.
ElDavid - How are you doing with Mono Green - The deck is still placing in the dailies from time to time - Quite a few G/B ooze decks of late too..
I'm on a Yeva fix atm so i'm interested to see how you feel about mono g ooze -
What's it's match ups like etc??
I like it a lot, it is a FUN deck to play. Got a decent amount of games in on Cockatrice and with paper. Lot's of hard to deal with creatures make it well positioned against aggro, okay against Junk reanimator and Jund midrange and control can be trouble depending on the build and how fast they can stabalize, do wish it could interact more, Wolfir Avenger even though not that impressive a creature on paper really does wonders Deadbridge Goliath too. As always Ooze with a Rancor is the nuts. My main problem is still, those Rakdos 4 drops Olivia and Aristocrat. Revenge of the Hunted is great to win games off of (especially on an Ooze). I almost never use the green creatures have flash part of Yeva, but a 4/4 flash for 4 is still pretty solid, wish she wasn't a legend... I find that Gyre Sage, although a decent card with great potential, seems to underwhelm most of the time. I'm thinking of swapping them for something, or run a black splash like my previous list just for the removal and deathrites. Oh and yeah, frontline medic gives mono green fits, I am going to run two little Garruk MB, meta choice.

I am looking to having better answers for the small creature matchup. The quick jund or boros aggro. Appetite or Ranger's Guile does less for me as my matchup is fine against control. But against quick aggro, the silverhearts come down too late.
back when I ran monogreen i had the same problems, then I remembered of wait Plummet is a card lol, and yes it works and it works very very well
Oh Plummet is great against Angels and Olivia, just wish it was better against Aristocrat and could take out some of the more annoying ground based problems.
I want to say control with 4x Azorius Charm, 4x Snapcaster, and 3 or 4 Detnetion Sphere/O-rings in the 75 seem to be a problem. Ranger's Guile is nice, but they have more removal than we have Guiles. I miss abrupt decay against the Sphere.
Legendary Creature - Troll Warrior
Each creature card in you graveyard has scavenge. The scavenge cost is equal to its mana cost.
Sacrifice another creature: Regenerate Valroz, the Scar-Striped.
2/2
I think he could be nifty to toss in here. Low curve, adds a bit of additional push for the right deck.
With that said, some cards become better than others:
Better:
(by that I mean, gain increased value or function)
So, this and any other undercosted creature which happens to be on color.
Worse?
Perhaps Predator Ooze due to paying three mana forjust one counter. But at the same time, they probally will not kill your ooze. Instead, you have a quick and more means to bring back your elves or trackers onto your ooze. Seems good to me. I'd toss this card in, perhaps instead of a Garruk or two?
I haven't played this deck in a good 7-8 weeks so I figured I'd revisit it.
My meta is heavily leaned towards R/x aggro, Naya Blitz, Humans, and turning dudes sideways in general. A few Esper Control and Reanimator players, but they're in the minority of aggro decks.
1) I wish I didn't have a soft spot for Revenge of the Hunted. I generally hate Miracle cards, and don't think it deserves a spot... but I can't recall even 1 game I've lost when I played it. It speeds things up so quickly, and think it may warrant having another with with an aggro-orientated meta. 2) With aggro being so dominant, I'm not quite sure how I feel with maindecking Garruk. He probably deserves to be in the side for the Midrange and Control match-ups. 3) I've considered maindecking Thragtusk over Deadbridge Goliath. Both give you good value and big bodies, but the life-gain may give it the edge at my LGS scenes. 4) I've never had an Ulvenward Tracker and never felt the need to (yet). 5) May +1 Wolfir Avenger. Such an underrated card.

Revenge of the Hunted can turn around unwinnable games, I'm with you on hating miracle cards, but while they exist and you are in an aggro heavy meta...
Every time I take out Garruk I want him back.
Deadbridge's 5 toughness for 4cc makes it a wall, it's 5 power for 4cc make it a beat, it's scavange comes up once in a while. Of course Thrag is Thrag still.
Tracker does present a problem for a lot of decks, I have never dropped them, but it's a meta call I guess.
Wolfir Avenger is way better than I thought it would be, I can see going to 4 easy.
So I decided to have a little fun. Took the above list with these changes
-1 Garruk Relentless (side)
-1 Revenge of the Hunted
+1 Vorapede
+1 Rubberbelt Raiders
2-0 Zombies
2-0 American Midrange
0-2 Naya Tokens Lifegain/rogue deck
2-0 American Midrange
*drop round 5 for work* 3-1
Zombies was a walk in the park. I ended up swinging for 10 by turn 4 (with trample), and 17 damage on turn 5. The next game, I had 2 Lotleth Troll's out (always for spare mana), and then once I hit the 5th land, Vorapede came out. A fun and easy match.
Both American Midrange matches were just nasty. It's one of the best decks in the format, and I always felt in control of our games. The first opponent I just kept up the beats, laying down as many Strangleroot Geists and Dreg Mangler's as I could. He threw so many Searing Spear's and Snapcaster's at 'em. Then I flashed in creatures when he tapped out to do this. The 2nd game double Predator Ooze's got there; he killed everything else but a continuing stream of Ooze beats will always beat this deck if they don't have Azorious Charm.
The 2nd American Midrange player... started off with Arbor Elf into Wolfir Avenger (I was on the play, thus he was still on 1 land on my 2nd turn). He eventually got rid of it, but after taking 2 hits from a Ooze with a Rancor, he scooped his cards after realizing all the digging he was doing couldn't find an answer. The 2nd game was more interactive as he had Oblivion Ring's and Detention Sphere's. He revealed a Dissipate off Augur so I tried to bait that out before playing my Ooze. The game changer was a End-of-Turn Yeva, Nature's Herald. The shock from him was amusing as he didn't expect that. Drew my card, threw on the rancor, used +3/+3 Scavenge onto my Wolfir Avenger, and taking 12 beats is too much. Easy.
My only loss was against my friend that came with a homebrew. I knew it was tokens-orientated, but couldn't remember the full gist of it. I started both games with strong, fast hands as I didn't want him to stablize with an army of flying, vigiliance 3/3's or something. He did a turn 2 Centaur Healer, and at that point I wasn't making a dent.
Attack with Strangleroot for 2 - he plays Centaur and gains 3. I attack with Troll and Geist for 4, he plays Thragtusk and gains 5. I finally started making a dent with those and a Wolfir and Dreg Mangler. Flooding the board and later on Scavenging some dudes, I finally started hitting him towards 14, then 8, then 3. He stablizes with an Assemble the Legions, Intangible Virtue, and Trostoni in play. At that point playing anything like Thragtusk was a blowout; being able to block most my damage while gaining 5-12 life a turn was too much.
The 2nd game wasn't as close as the first. I'm not too concerned with this loss; it was a homebrew and definitely an interesting matchup.
I'm disappointed I had to drop for my night-shift job, as I felt very confident especially with how easy the match-ups were going (both American Midrange players are skilled players who have won and topped major tournaments; something I've never done) But I'm not willing to give up my paycheck for a few boosters
I'll definitely be playing this again Man I missed this deck. The raw power is just unbelieveable. I think my only fix for now is taking out a land. I was surprised how many games I was able to win even when I started to draw too many lands. I'm comfortable at 4 if I don't have any Scavenge in the graveyard!
Been pretty happy so far, some of the card choices are due to availability (Golgari Guildgate) but I wanted to try a few alternative cards and see how they worked.
The Deathrite Shamans are in there 1) because I love the card (keeping it to 2 makes me kinda sad) and 2) It makes sure I get use out of any creature card discarded (if I can't afford or don't need the 5/6 drop for some of the salvage) or buried due to Grisly Salvage. I am trying Deadly Allure in place of Uvenwald Tracker cause it is less exposed to removal and provides deathtouch. I've done a Deadly Allure on Slitherhead a few times much to opponent chagrin.
The part I am most concerned about is that I don't get a lot of use out of the scavenge on Deadbridge Goliath and Dreg Mangler. I've thought about going back to 4 Arbor Elf but am having a hard time deciding what to drop. Wolfir Silverheart is tempting as well but I can't decide how or if I would make room.
My sideboard is pretty meh, but aside from the additional removal I'm having a bit of a brain fart on what to mix in there.

Just looking at the mana base, I would increase your forest count, thus reducing swamp count. The triple G for our ooze makes it difficult to cast Turn 2 or 3, with 6 swamps.

As I noted in my previous posts last page, I played this deck a couple months back (most of January). The metagame was different back then. So after FNM'ing one night with pretty good results, and playtesting a few rounds with friends last night, it looks like Midrange is one of our best match-ups. American Midrange seems like a great match-up, even with them playing Azorious Charm. How is the Naya Blitz matchup?
After grinding Reanimator for so long, I'm kind of tempted to just play this deck for the upcoming PTQ's in my region. It looks like it has a good match-up against everything except Reanimator. This is my current sideboard:
I kind of tossed it together a few minutes before FNM and here was my thought process:
Garruk = midrange/control match-ups
Liliana = UWR Midrange, maybe Esper. Apply pressure where needed.
Yeva = outstanding against control and midrange. Not a lot of people expect this.
Deathrite = Reanimator (esper/UWR midrange too maybe)
Grafdigger's Cage = ^^^
Thragtusk = Naya Blitz/aggro
Sever the Bloodline = seems good against most stuff like Aristocrats, aggro, etc.
I already maindeck 4 Abrupt Decay, 2 Tragic Slip, and 1 Ultimate Price. The kill spells can get awkward in some situations... considering siding 1-2 Golgari Charm.

Yes please.
Summary Ooze+Rancor=great deck base!
I am looking to having better answers for the small creature matchup. The quick jund or boros aggro. Appetite or Ranger's Guile does less for me as my matchup is fine against control. But against quick aggro, the silverhearts come down too late.
Varolz, the Scar-Striped

Whoops
-1 Garruk Relentless (side)
-1 Revenge of the Hunted
+1 Vorapede
+1 Rubberbelt Raiders
2-0 Zombies
2-0 American Midrange
0-2 Naya Tokens Lifegain/rogue deck
2-0 American Midrange
*drop round 5 for work*
3-1

I also love Essence Harvest, especially as Lotleth Troll gets big.
How about Wasteland Viper instead of DE?
I didn't list my sideboard in the original post, that's why you don't see it I've considered maindecking her.

After grinding Reanimator for so long, I'm kind of tempted to just play this deck for the upcoming PTQ's in my region. It looks like it has a good match-up against everything except Reanimator. This is my current sideboard:
2 Liliana of the Veil
2 Yeva, Nature's Herald
2 Grafdigger's Cage
3 Deathrite Shaman
1 Sever the Bloodline
4 Thragtusk
I kind of tossed it together a few minutes before FNM and here was my thought process:
Garruk = midrange/control match-ups
Liliana = UWR Midrange, maybe Esper. Apply pressure where needed.
Yeva = outstanding against control and midrange. Not a lot of people expect this.
Deathrite = Reanimator (esper/UWR midrange too maybe)
Grafdigger's Cage = ^^^
Thragtusk = Naya Blitz/aggro
