Introduction:
Boros is going pretty strong lately. Actually a lot of decks are doing pretty good right now. I remember seeing a few months ago before rotation, there was some BW Humans decks rolling around. They may not seem as powerful as UW Humans aka Haunted Humans.
I have been playing humans every since Haunted Humans made it big with the release of Innistrad Block. I have played UW, Naya, even RW Humans before Gatecrash. I was actually starting to get sick of humans, but I had most of the cards already, so I could put together a human deck pretty easily. Well I wanted to try something new, well somewhat of an upgrade.
This human deck seems to have more spells in it then other humans decks. When I played UW Humans before RTR or GTC, I always had more spells and the deck seemed to last longer in longer games, and yet could be just as explosive.
Card Explanations: Ravenous Demon. My late game. Yes, I said that right. I wanted to test this deck since I am playing humans and Gather the Townsfolk and Doomed Traveler, which seem to have great synergy together.
Orzhov Charm. It can also bring back Doomed Traveler or Champion of the Parish after you sac it to Revenous Demon. I know the Demon is risky since you have to sac a human every turn. That is why I am tested him since I am kind of worried about him too. I was thinking of trading him out with Bloodgift Demon which can make you draw cards, but, has no synergy with Orzhov Charm, Doomed Traveler and Gather the Townsfolk.
Mikaeus, the Lunarch. Just doesn't see play anymore. Honestly this card can enter the battlefield in the late game as a pretty big creature. Makes the spirit tokens bigger eventually also.
High Priest of Penance. This card I am still unsure about. It might move to the SB, but it all depends if I have a heavy Red meta at my gamestore.
Sideboard: Immortal Servitude. Good against sweeper decks. You can get all your 1 CMC creatures back for just 4 mana if you have them in the graveyard.
Loyal Cathar. I love this card in every human deck that I played. Against sweeper decks, I get him right back! He may not be as powerful, and can't block when flipped, but I have a creature on the board ready to attack away after everything else is gone. Honestly might put 1 or 2 in the main deck.
Devour Flesh. I might move this card to mainboard since my meta has a few Hexproof creatures rolling around.
I would cut Gift of Orzhova and replace Ultimate Price with a less restrictive removal spell. Too many relevant creatures are multi-colored. Consider Victim of Night, Devour Flesh or just more Orzhov Charm. I feel like I'm constantly having to replace Ultimate Price with something else anymore.
Last, the Ravenous Demon does indeed seem janky. I would recommend against running 3, and running more humans and less spells to ensure you can pay his upkeep cost. Less spells would also allow you to maindeck more Thalia, Guardian of Thraben which I'm always a big fan of.
If you want to use a non-human finisher that's less janky, but just as underplayed, I recommend Angelic Overseer. It's the same cost, doesn't require a sac, and is a lot harder for your opponent to remove. I used to stick one in the humans deck. The opponent doesn't expect it, it flies unlike the rest of the deck, and is huge pain in the ass when bonded to your Silverblade Paladin.
Last, I know no one else does, but I like Odric, Master Tactician. Fills out the curve nicely.
I was looking at Nearhearth Pilgrim and also the Guildmage. Nearhearth hasn't really helped me in my other human decks really. That doesn't mean I don't want to test it out. Silverbald/Nearhearth is just insane. The Guildmade would also interact with it nicely. Could be nice in the late game when you need some life.
I'm still on the edge with Lingering Souls. Sorin seems really good with his -2 for all my creatures. I will have to consider a 1-of or maybe a 2-of.

Gift of Orzhov is something I wanted to test. It probably isn't that good of card and maybe I would just like another human in that slot. I was also thinking of moving Ultimate Price to the Sideboard and bring in Devour Flesh to the maindeck to help against Hexproof and those pesky Boros Reckoners.
I forgot about the card Angelic Overseer! That does seem pretty good in a human deck! So maybe I I could split it between the two?? My humans would probably disappear pretty fast once I get the big Demon out.
Love your list. I've had this idea in my head ever since the demon came out. The Gatecrash stuff finally makes it somewhat playable I think. You can go a solid aggro route with mainly white humans and then drop the demon. I have a version on cockatrice that played ok but I need to change some things out and I like some of your ideas.

Thank you for having interest! I am still trying to tweak some stuff here and there. I have an updated list for tonight once I am done with classes today at the college.
I have tested Gift of Orzhova, but it just wasn't that good. I rather have another human to lay down. The demon has been OK in testing. Not great. I have decided to lower the count and try Angelic Overseer in my testing alongside with the demon.
I have decided to remove the Lingering Souls. They really didn't have a good synergy with the deck as a whole. My removal is a little bit of everything also. Victim of Night I am worried about the BB it costs to cast. So that might just become another Devour Flesh in the long run.
I have decided to bring the count of the demon down to 2 and add in 1 Angelic Overseer. Honestly, that might move up to 2 and the demon down to 1.
I also added in one more Thalia main deck and one more Gather of the Townsfolk.

Still testing!
high priest of pennance has been kind of underwhelming for me. it seems like you want to take an aggressive approach, and against a lot of decks, a 1/1 for 2 isnt that threatening of a 'clock'.
against aggressive opponents, i LOVE nearhearth pilgrim. its super good, especially with boros reckoner.
im interested in how the demon has been for you. what matchups does it shine in? i think a lot of matchups it probably wont be too overwhelming, like in the control matchups its probably super mediocre. in aggro matchups, especially the 'mindless' ones, i could see it being potentially huge. this being said, is skirsdag high priest a better plan to make a big demon? you ARE the aggressor, right? losing a dude will happen a lot with your deck.
speaking of losing a dude a lot, tragic slip is perfect for your deck!
vault of the archangel is good in theory, but you really need to be careful about not running short of white sources for a turn 1 threat. i would use caverns and maybe 1 or 2 vault of the archangel.
i've been playing 3 thalia main and 1 sideboard, and i love her to death. i wouldnt use less than 4 between main and side. shes just such an amazing roadblock for a lot of decks. making a lot of certain decks in the format 'clunky' will win you a lot of 'free' games.

how has angelic overseer been for you?
I honestly haven't played this deck in awhile. I have been kind of taking a break from standard and Magic as a whole since I was finishing up college. Nearhearth Pilgrim would probably be the better choice from High Priest of Pennance. This deck does need to be aggressive.
The Demon honestly has not been working at all. It's one of those card that you would want to work, but won't work at all. So that would be a card to get rid of in this deck honestly.
I honestly like the idea of Tragic Slip, that would be a card to consider. Vault of the Archangel if I remember was really good, but I could see cutting one for another basic land.
Angelic Overseer I would have to say was the underdog of the deck. I actually was running 1 Ravenous Demon and 2 Angelic Overseer, which in my opinion was the right choice.
What about cartel aristocrat ? Linked with silverblade and your tokens its a lot of damage they take
I do like the idea, but maybe as a one of??
Anyone try this deck out now that DGM is out? Sin Collector seems like a good fit to combat the control decks.
I haven't looked at DGM set all the much yet, but there a few B/W cards that really pop out at me and that one you mention was one of them. I was also looking at the 5-drop Vampire...forgot the name sorry, but it would take away from the Human theme.
Since I graduated from college...finally, I might have more time, but I've been busy job hunting lol.
I still think this deck could be competitive if it was more finely tuned. Thanks for the interest even if I haven't been paying attention to the thread

Coming soon!
Considering:
00 Nearhearth Pilgrim
00 Vizkopa Guildmage
Please let me know what you think. I know if seems kind of janky (at least to me) but I think the Demon could prove useful in the long games.
Thanks!
I would up the High Priest of Penance count, especially against RDW/Boros Decks.
Also, Vault of the Archangel.
And if you're set on using Lingering Souls and in these colors, might as well consider Sorin, Lord of Innistrad.
