All four of the creatures that you cut for Hamlet Captain are better than Hamlet Captain. You're not running a human-themed deck, so why bother buffing humans? It doesn't help the Flinthoof Boar and it doesn't help the Ghor-Clan Rampager if you stick him instead of bloodrush him. Besides that, the buff is a temporary +1/+1, which doesn't amount to much when it's not helping all creatures, all the time. The Flinthoof get's his +1/+1 all the time just for running a mountain.
However, that's all based on theory--I don't have any idea what the rest of the deck looks like.

But you are playing a human deck where the only non-human creature is now a 3-of boar thats already a 3/3.
And thalia is pretty bad against the mirror and against some midrange decks. Rampager comes out a lot against decks that can 2 for 1 you anyways.
Frontline comes out because he also comes out a lot. Making a more stable mainboard that plays on having "the nuts" more often and against the mirror he can put you in control and he is pretty sweet when blocking with a thalia against any x/3
Thats like saying, "why run mayor if you arent a human-themed deck"
I tried him over Boar, thinking the same as you. The bottom line for me is that he's just plain slower. He makes no impact on the board right away, he doesn't buff himself so he's likely to just die on the first attack, and he HAS to attack unlike Mayor. The boar is just better.
That being said, Selesnya Charm has done wonders for me. It kills Obzedat and Angel, it's a body when I need it, and it still pumps for a little extra damage (less than Ghor Clan, but flexibility comes with a cost). Since you can't bloodrush off of a BTE, it's really not even more difficult to cast. I'm loving it.

And im not running him OVER the boar. They are brothern here. 4 captain, 3 boar.
I've played captain a bit, he's pretty nice when he lands paired onto a lightning mauler but in just about every other situation he feels too slow. Really pales in comparison to mayors immediate +1+1.
As mentioned, captain also ends up having to suicide charge to accomplish anything way too often. May be less of an issue if you have a decent suite of pump spells though.
All in all I find having mayor, boar, mauler, and searing spear means I usually have a t2 play off of an emissary so finding more is not really a priority.
Thalia is always amazing. She is a wall against aggro, she stops Farseek against midrange and control cries when they see her. Always run 3 in Naya blitz. Always.
Chronic flooding is a terrible card with a nice shell that makes it an important role player.
Hamlet captain is a terrible card that only comes to make less reliable a deck which is already good (considering your cuts).
Would you sacrifice the consistency of a deck with an already considerable amount of mulligans under its belt... to play a card that would be easily the worst 2 drop in the deck?.
If you are, well, get out of the competitive subforum and go back to standard deck creation.

Why are you having such a closed minded approach to a new card?
19 lands right now since we arent playing anything above a two drop in the mainboard. Selesnya was the last added card since we cut our curve down and it seems pretty good in a number of matchups.
I am not close minded, i am a competitive player in the competitive subforum.
How can you, in your own words, say that Hamlet captain is MORE important than frontline medic?
Becuse you are not playing it, you are actually just adding what would be the worse 2 mana card in the deck if you compare it with mauler/thalia/boar/mayor/BTE.
Second question.
Can your decklist win, with a 5 cards opening hand?... because, if you ask me... 19 lands in a 3 colors deck is more than greedy... it is, well... not very smart.

The deck can very much win.
You are undercreditting captain without any testing(to my knowledge)
Yes sometimes he just suicides but when he does he is an attacking mayor which is most of the time what we need.
a few points of dmg is quite critical and he helps puts them in. And in the mirror we can be a game breaker since his ability trigger on attacking AND blocking. And makes thalia better.
He allows more "nut" draws, which is what this deck is aiming for.
I dont deny frontline's power but I find myself SBing him out a lot and sometimes he is just a 3/3 for 3 and the indestructibe isnt all that great.
You do have those games where his battalion wins you games and you also have games where captain's battle cry wins you games.
I will do testing with this build and record my records and post them.
I really hope, that since the aim of this subforum is to talk about decks and techs that are aimed at competitive level, you play this at your local wmcq this weekend and post a tournament report.
and btw, i already tested this... i know what i am talking about.

Alrighty.
I will be playing this list at FNM and also a TCGplayer Gold IQ
I would think that Hamlet Captain could possibly replace Flinthoof Boar. Each card has its pro's and con's. Captain synergies with the rest of the deck but flinthoof is better on its own.
If you're swinging with the captain and 2 or more humans the damage output goes to the captain. Flinthoof is better if you're swinging with 2 or less creatures.
If you want more explosive nut draws play Hamlet Captain. If you want a more consistent deck play Flinthoof Boar.

flinthoof boar is far more synergistic than captain.
besides being castable with BTE, allows experiment one to be a 3/3, is one of your best topdecks, the best post veredict (it is usually an out when you need to push those 2 more damage).
it REALLY helps your nutdraws since it allows for Boros elite and frontline medic to trigger batallion with haste.

i wouldn't even think about touching them.
You def want to be running boar. I was playing the burn version of blitz and that is the main card that I wish I had in the deck.

I run both as you can see in the list I recently posted.

I will switch my deck around then. I was theory crafting but if Flinthoof is proven to be better than Captain I won't mess with success.

I've played the versions without cap'ns for some time now, and I can say that only one time have I ever attacked with Mayor of Avabruck (a sure lethal attack into a tapped out opponent). I don't see how it can ever be beneficial to have your human lord have to charge into whatever blocker your opponent has left open to even get the lord effect.

Its more about just having another lord effect. Your guys getting bigger and having more nut draws. Which is what this deck thrives on

Lord effect = Your guys getting bigger ???
It does bear mention that I did play him for some time on the grounds that he seemed better than Boar. But as I played, I realized that not only was the captain not performing, but the Boar gave you the crucial haste creature you sometimes needed to get an Elite or a Medic online (also made Experiment One much better by being a 3/3). For now I've cut a couple of Boars for Firefist Strikers, which just won me a WMCQ (no brag).

Pros:
Buff your team(attacking AND blocking)
Is a human
Can be casted off of BTE
2 Mana(the sweet spot)
1G so its not harsh on mana
Cons:
Doesnt buff himself
Only a 2/2 for 1G
No haste
Pros def outway the cons.
Generally what I have cut from the stock list is
-1 Thalia(weakest creature in the deck imo)
-1 Rampager
-1 Frontline Medic
-1 Flinthoof Boar
+4 Hamlet Captain
Thoughts?
