He said too that Elesh Norn was good for him and yet I just cut it from my list. I found it too slow against really aggressive decks. I am experimenting with Frost Titan instead.
I really didn't like his list much. I've been moving away from Ratchet Bomb and Negate for a while now, and he's running 2 and FOUR, respectively. Seems odd.
I also hate the 1/1 split on Gideon and Liliana. And the fact that he's only running 2 Images, which is almost universally accepted as "the best card in the deck".
I've been playing this at FNM level events for the past month or so, and I love the deck. My question is, how come nobody plays Vault of the Archangel? It turns your Lingering Souls into a bunch of Vampire Nighthawks and it makes swinging with double Sun Titans even more devastating. Yes, I know it's somewhat redundant with Batterskull and Wurmcoil Engine, but the card is getting a lot of work done for me.

I run vault of the archangel's, it's such a blowout....it actually wins me sooooooooo many games.
And I don't agree with it being redundant b/c of batterskull and wurmcoil...wurmcoil and bskull are redundant because of vault...
Just yesterday, I traded 4 souls for 4 wurmcoils in 1 swing, next turn I cleaned up with a doj....

The main thing it's been helping with is aggro matchups. I often take a while to stabilize, so being able to push with your creatures while taking yourself out of burn range is great. Once you swing with 2 Sun Titans with lifelink, there's really no recovery for the opponent.
Here is a variation on Solar Flare I am working on. It is almost an Esper DrawGo utilizing Sun Titan to get multiple uses out of Snapcaster Mage as well as Phantasmal Image.
Black is here clearly only for Doom Blade, Liliana, Lingering Souls, but most importantly, Nephalia Drownyard. I'm only listing two, but maybe I will go to three after play testing consistency.
I also went to 26 lands, which I am not thrilled with.
Also, in this deck, Think Twice or Ponder? I went with TT for card advantage and because I want the deck to remain largely reactive.
This is where my current list stands. I've been putting a decent amount of work into it with some okay results (virtual T16s at a PTQ and a $1.5k). I'm currently one card short with my latest iteration, as I'm trying to figure out if I want to play something spicy (one card I'm considering for the slot is Snapcaster Mage) or just be boring and play something like the 4th Phantasmal Image. Normally I would default to Batterskull, but it feels kind of clunky at the moment.

Two questions that I have been obsessing over with my list:
1. Counters MB or no counters? Interesting to note that one of the winning lists ran counters MB and the other did not. I am planning to try a list without counters MB this Friday to test it out. I have been running 3 Mana Leaks MB but often side them out.
2. Liliana or no Liliana MB? I have run two Lilianas MB since last October but I side her out in almost every MU. I am starting to think I no longer need her. The Edison winning deck did not run her at all in the 75.
What are everyone's thoughts on these two questions?
Lilianna's not so great anymore cause the deck doesn't have ton's of card draw, and you aren't running more than 1-2 unburial rites, plus the number of bombs you can bin has diminished. So I would say no liliana. Also I run no counters, and after UB, it's a bit of a weird concept, but I've been putting up really good numbers with it. It's still a control deck though, you still need to control the flow of the game, through card quality
Liliana is probably not maindeckable because she's miserable against most of the field, but she's still insane against WRR and passable against Delver. She may be worth 1 or 2 sideboard slots if you can spare the room.
Maindeck countermagic isn't really necessary because you have enough removal and board control to manage the game until you can stick a Titan or planeswalker. It does make your matchup weaker vs. other control decks, but those are a rarity these days.
A question for all: is abandoning 5 drops (Gideon, Batterskull, Tamiyo, Curse) completely the way to actually go? A number of articles still claim Gideon is a reasonable threat against Delver because it dodges Vapor Snag and doesn't necessarily get blown out by Angel. I've been a big Batterskull proponent, but it's starting to feel a little too clunky and getting blown out by Snag is the worst.
I think this is probably the best deck archetype in the format right now. To start with, the builds that won the two major tourneys had some major flaws IMHO and still managed to win. I'll paste the list I've been running in below. There will be a few changes to this list and I'll specify those and the reasons for them.
I won my LGS Game Day with this list without dropping a single game. I played against a variety of decks, including tokens, RDW, Esper Planeswalkers and Delver.
Hits and misses:
3 x Ratchet Bombs in the MD -- Huge hit. There wasn't a single matchup I didn't like seeing the early game Bomb. Round 1, my oppo opens in the play with Stromkirk Noble and follows it up with another 1 drop. T2 Bomb changes the game on the spot.
Blade Splicer -- Huge hit! The Splicer and his Golem buddy were massive for me all day. He is awesome at blocking in the early game and keeps coming back with Titan triggers. In the UW control match-up we traded Lingering Souls tokens back and forth until I ran him out of counters and then dropped 2 Splicers and two Images copying them. It was nice to be able to suddenly go aggro on him.
Griselbrand -- not bad, but not amazing either. Only hit the table twice and was a major factor both times. One Aggro match-up turned on his lifelink while UW control never recovered from my drawing seven cards. However, I wonder if another Elesh or a cheaper card would have been more effective.
Unburial Rites #2 -- Miss. Only used one the whole tournament for some really weird reason. Had both stuck in my hand at least once. Almost never hit anything I'd want to reanimate with my Alchemies, which is just weird.
0 Counterpsells -- Hit. For several reasons, counters are useless in the current metagame. Caverns, is one, another is that even without Caverns most of the aggro decks are playing cheap (Delver) or reusable (Lingering Souls) threats leaving your counters stranded in your hand wishing you were paired up aginst another control deck. If Flare starts turning up in numbers at my LGS I will increase the number of Negates in the board.
Scars Lands -- Miss. Wound up with far too many of them coming into play tapped.
Abolisher -- Miss. I was expecting to see at least one Turbo Fog deck. It didn't show up, so this card is a miss, but I know there will probably be one in the room, so at least one of these has to stay in the board.
Changes:
I'll drop the second Rites. I am also going to test the Vault you guys have been talking about. I think that's a very intriguing innovation.
Questions:
I don't understand why I see so many Karns in your boards. He is amazing and I have used him to great effect in the past, but against control, which is usually the match up he comes in against, I'd rather have Another Jace which can win the game with one activation of his mill 10 ability. Karn only changes the game significantly after three or four activations, and you have to expect your oppo to have an O-ring by the time you can play him.

I think I may brew something very similar up, with a Vault included.
The only changes I think I want to make are dropping the Griselbrand to SB for a MB Batterskull, as well as maybe switching Jace for Tamiyo, or do you find that she is better coming in off of the board?
I think right now I would agree with both your changes. I really liked both Griselbrand's abilities, but the Batterskull comes down more quickly and the bounce and recast play is awesome against control. I'm also going to swtch the Tamiyo and Jace, moving the latter to the board to give me a decent alternate win-con if needed. Tamiyo is better defensively and offers a really interesting card draw element that replaces the Griselbrand ability. The other chance I recommend is two swtch out the darkslick Shores for Darkwater Catacombs. This will hurt the T1 Ponder a little bit, but I found that I wanted lands to cast Sun Titan and Elesh in the lategame on several occasions and was stuck with Scars lands that came in tapped.

So how are people dealing with Surgical Extraction? In my testing online the card just blew me out one game with him extracting my titans and lingering souls another game where I really needed the chumps. I think the deck is starting to get more respect, so I expect to see the card more often. Now that the deck goes pretty much all in on Sun Titan, not having other real threats or ways to win besides Elesh or a single planeswalker is back breaking. I know you can play around it by not putting Sun Titans via forbidden, but even just removing Image makes the deck a lot weaker.
I just don't like how vulnerable the deck is to the card, and one of the main reasons I am worried to convert my Super friends list to it despite Solar Flares recent success.

TBH, I just don't see this as a concern and there are a coupe of reasons for that:
1) If I have a Sun Titan in the GY then it is at least turn 7 or 8. I won't bin one with Alchemy unless I absolutely have to, and in that case I am losing anyway, so SE might just as well be a doom blade or Vapor Snag something else that will eliminate my ability to block. Thus, I am already losing and SE doesn't matter. An answer is just an answer and if they have it you are screwed. On the other hand, if I get to T7 or 8, play Titan and they kill/Extract it, then I am still winning because I have already survived to the late game and I do have other win-cons that will gt me there.
2) My second point is best expressed by answering your question by asking a question of my own, so please forgive me for bad form. What do you do if you don't draw Sun Titan? You have to balance playing the contents of your deck with playing the cards you actually draw. Sun Titan is a huge beating in this deck, which has been optimized for it, but I am still planning on winning with my secondary win-cons if they don't turn up (which is a legit concern). That's why you play a multi-dimensional attack in the first place. I can kill you with creatures (1 Blade Splicer is all you really need if they don't have an answer), by attacking with Gideon or milling with Jace. What matters most -- and this comes back to my 1st point -- is that I keep you from killing me until I can close you out. Thus, I would be more concerned with someone Extracting my Day of Judgements than my Titans.

So, I'm becoming less and less impressed with dead weight...any alternatives?...I still want it to reoccur with suntitan, but if not I might just run 3 gftts
I've been trying to tune the mainboard for a favorable match up against Humans since that's a pretty popular deck in my meta. Hence why I'm running four board sweepers. I tried to tool my sideboard for control mirrors mostly, though I think that part of my deck could use some work still. Any critique and advice would be appreciated.
