Anyone look at Sam Black's list from SCG premium??
His WMCQ non-delver delver deck? Yeah, I played a couple games with it on Cockatrice and it's pretty awesome.
Personally, I made the mana worse and the power higher by adding bonfire of the damned, because I think it's THAT good. Regardless, the deck is amazing.
LP, I'm checking your article out as well. Behind all of your swag is the brain of one of the most intelligent Magic players I've ever known. I guess that's one more thing for you to add to the wall of ego that is your Sally sig.
I can go with that. LK, you are the Mace Windu of red mages...cool, tempered logic in deliberation, but capable of just flat kicking tail when the situation warrants it.
The bonfires...HELL NO. It was just an experiment. Blacks actual list though, yeah I'd play that before delver if only because it's...more robust. Delver blade has trouble in the games where it can't be the aggressor game one. Blacks deck functions as a more midrange control deck as opposed to aggro control which I feel gives you more options.
It's really a choice between a deck with a nut draw, and a deck with good options from turn one to turn twenty. I'm also biased in the style of decks I play. I don't like non-red aggro and I don't like swords which usually leaves me playing control decks, even though I've played my fair share of delver. The midrange deck is MUCH more my cup of tea.

Black's list is kind of interesting to me. It makes the creature matchups incredible, but SoFaF and Restoration Angel already seemed to go along way to improving that matchup -- and it doesn't seem amazing vs control builds like the solar flare decks that seems to be doing well all over the place recently (although I suppose you do have 4 wraths post board which is huge if they're counter-light).
I'd be interested in how it fares against regular UW Delver though. Is it legitimately a solid deck choice, or is it just a flash in the pan riding on the fact that everyone keeps bad hands and sideboards wrong assuming you're a Delver deck?

The list looks good, im thinking of just stealing the tamiyo x1 gideon x2 play and using outta the sideboard along wit doj, leaving the delvers and swords maindeck, and using a 3/2 split with geist and splicer,
thinking of removing the Geist and Swords for phantasmal images and lingering souls, but i enjoy the decks ability to attack from all angles when you include the geist and swords.

well, considering he was 2nd on WCQ, then the next day someone with the same deck won PTQ and at the same time someone else won another PTQ with similar list it makes me think this might be pretty solid choice (poor my vallet)

But, these wins came in quick succession, without any time for the deck list to become known. It's likely that people sided thinking that the deck was Delver in all three tournaments.

I will play what wins, not what is convenient. Personal preference is nothing, The win is all that matters. I will netdeck at every opportunity, but I will not let that stifle my creativity. Style points do not appear on tournament reports. A good deck with an incompetent pilot is nothing more than a dressed up match win. I will crush my opponent mercilessly, and expect no less from him. Victory is its own reward, The prize is just a bonus.
