Silverblade Paladin - 1WW, 2/2, Soulbond (You may pair this creature with another unpaired creature when either enters the battlefield. They remain paired as long as you control both of them). As long as Silverblade Paladin is paired with another creature, both creatures have double strike.
All ready loving the card... It is too bad that it has no built in protection but after rotation should end up being a replacement Mirrian Crusader. Now I am wondering how I should fit it in my Natural Justice because a double striking Hero of Bladehold will be kind of bossy...
I can see this creature being played against a tapped out opponent to swing in with a 3/3 double striking Champion of the Parish. The problem is, Champion can get removed the next turn, and then you're left with a Scathe Zombie. This can be fixed, if there's a four drop with soulbound, to make the Paladin regain double strike and to also gain another cool ability.
Even though there may be some cool synergies that way, don't expect it to be better than Mirran Crusader.
I could see some white weenie/Human decks running this initially as an experiment, but it's probably not strong enough to warrant a place in anything competitive until after Scars rotates.
It's definitely not a replacement for Mirran Crusader, as if its partner (odd word choice, I know) gets removed, it's just a vanilla 2/2 until something else comes around. Furthermore it doesn't have the protections that make Mirran Crusader great for its cost.

Lapsed DCI Rules Advisor - Retired from playing but still hanging around
Even though we can all agree that Mirrian Crusader is the better creature card here but I would like someone to please explain to me why this creature card could not be a viable alternative once the Crusader rotates out? Unless there is something else out there that fits a 3cmc double white dounle striker that I missed?
Edit: NVM... Pretty sure rotation talk is not allowed here and I'll cross that road once my favorite creature card rotates out and I'm looking for a replacement...
Uh ok. Yes its not as good as crusader mainly for the pro black/green. But I cann see using this card. It will be the target of spot removal. First turn champion, 2nd turn gather, third turn champ swings for 8... I like it. Then turn 4 when ur opponent swings flash in restoration angel for further double strike crazyness....
As per usual, I prefer to withhold real judgement on a card until the entire set is revealed, but as it stands, I think giving anything double strike for 3 is a pretty good deal. We'll see just how good a deal it can be.

It’s like the universe screams in your face, “Do you know what I am? How grand I am? How old I am? Can you even comprehend what I am? What are you, compared to me?” And when you know enough science, you can just smile up at the universe and reply, “Dude, I am you.”
I don't like it. I don't see it replacing Mirran Crusader, or really doing anything at all.
It will seriously depend on the meta. However, I think in a deck running, say, Invisible Stalker and the equipment, or even Geist, he becomes clinch.
Geist swings.
Angel comes into play.
You can Soul Bond him to the Angel.
Or leave him on Geist to increase likelihood of surviving. it is really a call.
Quote from Mittoo »
As far as I can tell, Soulbond triggers whenever another creature enters the battlefield.
IE:
You have Champion of the Parish on the field and cast Silverblade. Soulbond triggers and links them.
You have Silverblade on the field (after Champion's died, for example) and cast Hero of Bladehold. Soulbond triggers and allows you to link those.

You would be correct. The wording states that when a creature enters the battlefield (be it the creature with the ability or another) you get to make that decision. I think SOulbond may become a very powerful keyword in this set.

Eh, I don't think you want too many 3cmc guys in your weenie deck. I think Geist of Saint Traft is going to get the nod over this card almost every time. If you're not playing some blue in your white weenie deck you should probably a) play this card because you have no choice or b) consider playing blue. Sorry, 'wet blanket time' was overdue! It's great for more budget human builds... though I guess there's more to be spoiled so we'll see if there's anything there...
i like this one. giving double strike to arbitrary creatures at a reasonable cost can produce some bone-crushing hits. big potential here. the ability reminds me of Exalted in alot of ways too (though better actually).
imagine having a deck with several soul-bond creatures in it, so that you're able to Voltron up a real monster with soul-bonded buddies.
i don't usually like to do the Magical Christmas Land thing, but maybe its worth listing an example for this card, since it seems pretty sweet.
turn 1: Champion of the Parish
turn 2: Gather the Townsfolk, attack with 3/3 champion (3 damage dealt)
turn 3: Silverblade Paladin, soul-bond to Champion, attack with 4/4 double strike champion (8 damage dealt), and a pair of human tokens (2 damage dealt)
turn 4: lethal damage on board, any play you make this turn is just to help connect for the win or go over the top.
He actually combos quite nicely with geist as he can pair with the token and make him hit for 8 in the air.
I would probably do geist turn 3, then turn 4 this guy and hold a faiths shield to protect him from their spot removal. All in all not as powerful as crusader, but he's got some serious explosive potential
How good this card is depends on what other Soulbond creatures there are and what their effects do. Two Soulbond creatures paired with each other = double effect.

^ This.
This card alone needs to stop being compared to Mirran Crusader. They do not play the same role. Crusader is a 3 drop double strike with built in evasiveness, This is a 3 drop combo piece that is followed by an ideally devastating play. More cards with this ability will be ideal.

I am hoping they make a soulbound creature in green just so I can have a turn 3 Strangleroot geist swinging for 6.

I was reading Soulbond wrong. I still don't love this creature, but the ability to attach it to new creatures and not just one when the Paladin enters the play is definitely okay.
I really like this tech and look forward to see more. I just like the idea of being able to soulbound something turn 3 hense swinging ur accorder/legionair for 6 turn 3

If they print good 1-2cmc soulbound creatures, human deck actually can switch from anthems to soulbound.

Identical color, cost, power/toughness and double strike is on both cards. I think comparisons are ok.
