I have been using loose change as tokens as I only have 1 1/1 flying spirit token card and 2 1/1 human token card. I was just wondering what you guys use as tokens as I want to use something a little better than random loose change.
I bought tokens for 5 cents each just because people were getting annoyed at my using dice. I didn't want some one to claim I was misinterpreting the board. My advice is to just go ahead and get them, they will make your life easer.
I use token cards too as the deck generates too many types of tokens and for competitive play using dice simply won't cut it. My current iteration of the deck requires:
Humans
Soldiers
Spirits
Lifelink vampires
Sorin's emblem
Golems
Myrs
On top of this counters are needed for the Champions of the Parish. It's gotten to the point I have to bring dual deck boxes to any tournaments I enter, one for the deck and the other for tokens
During drafts I saw people leaving them on tables ready to throw away, plus my LGS gave me a bunch for free. I was able to pull 1/1 Vampires with Lifelink (4 of them) so that was really cool as they are hard to find and I traded a booster pack for an emblem when it was only worth $3.
I have about 100 Tokens in total and up until 3 hours ago had them all sleeved with the same color as my tokens deck when someone mentioned that I should use a different color as I was accidentally shuffling them into my deck after a game ended.
Reality: What I actually do is use upside-down cards from my graveyard as tokens (they're sleeved). Since my deck and the opponent's decks don't operate from the grave, it's rarely and issue.
Do as I say, not as I do.

Where is a good place for me to buy the tokens from?
You can get them from any online retailer. Just type in spirit token and it will pull up all the spirit tokens. Tokens come in common, uncommon, and rare so dont be shocked if some cost more then others

I just get them from packs. At Drafts and such people just throw away teh tokens so I just ask them for some.
I've got.......probably 20 1/1 human tokens, 8 or so 1/1 soldier tokens. Nearly 30 1/1 spirit tokens. 3-4 3/3 golem tokens. 4 2/2 flying vamp tokens, and then a single lone 1/1 LIfelink Vampire token.
pff no. You can use dice. Anything. Tokens are litterally worthless. the only reason people sell them at any price is just cuz tehy are a buisness and wanna make money when they can.
For example. A lot of times before I used spirit tokens when a Doomed Traveler Died I would just flip him over and use that as teh spirit token.
It really depends - if you're playing in a sanctioned event the rules tends to be stricter and you are not allowed to use cards from your graveyard to "proxy" as a token.
But yes you can use anything as tokens. I think way back Jamie Wakefield used to use dinosaur toys as his tokens from his green fatties...

Lol.
and yes your right that most sanctioned events did not like you using the flip tech with Doomed. Though anything under a Gradn Prix should be fine. If someone starts giving you lip about it use a Dice or anything. Hell I've even seen people use buttons, paper, extra card sleeves, part of their sideboard, whatever they just so happen to have in their pockets.
I made these for use on Cockatrice, but have since printed them off and actually use them in real games. I need to go back and make one for Human tokens and one for Vampire tokens, but haven't settled on the right pokemon for each. Right now it's looking like Mr. Mime and ________, since I can't think of a good vampire :/
I was using dice but found people were annoyed by them. I sleeved up 10 Human Tokens, 12 spirit and 10 Soldier tokens for my deck. It makes the the board easier to read for not only your opponent but you as well.
I made my own! I whipped them up using Photoshop (er, GIMP). They have real Magic card backs, too. They always get me compliments when I play them.
I have never liked facing or playing dice as tokens as you can't tell as easily if it's tapped or not, and when you can have 4-5 different kinds of tokens out at once, it's also hard to sort which are flying and which aren't, which get the Honor of the Pure buff and which don't... with actual tokens that's tons easier.

Had a moment of revelation there...

I have 1/1 Myr tokens but I haven't been using Shrine of Loyal Legions
check your local card shops. they tend to be cheap if not free.
