I'm looking into building a TS deck and I really like the CFB build, but I am not a fan of Glint Hawk. I'd like to replace it with a flying artifact, and it seems like these are my two options. 1/2 vigi vs. 2/1 with a loss of 2 life. Opinions? (Vault Skirge and Signal Pest are in the deck already)
I guess I'm torn. I see why it's a good card, but I'm wondering if its pros/cons outweigh the pros/cons of having another artifact that can benefit from TS.
Auriok Sunchaser and Spined thopter are better than Hovermyr. Spined thopter gets bounced by vapor snag painfully , however Auriok Sunchaser is well... awkward, I reccomend trying out spined thopter over hovermyr for the raw power of a 2/1 flyer for 2 mana (aka both those cards suck but spined thoper sucks less)
I run Hover Myr over Spined Thopter(ran Spined Thopter first) because of the higher toughness. I don't run Glint Hawk for the same reason I don't run 4 Mox Opal's... Dead cards late game. The spot of the Hawk is filled by Hex Parasite x2 and Turn Aside x2.

There was a thread with this exact same question less than a month ago - it's been said, Spined Thopter is better than Hovermyr because it is a 2/1, not a 1/2. Vigilance doesn't really matter, and the life loss is almost always irrelevant.
Either way though, as long as your playing 4 Memnite and 3-4 Mox Opal, Glint Hawk is better.
I've been doing well with Illusions recently and today I ran into RW tempered steel with Hovermyr. Needless to say, me (and another strong illusions player) were promptly demolished by hovermyr. It effectively blanked Moorland Haunt and once tempered steel joined the party it was big enough to hold off both sides of the table.
tl;dr I have alot of newfound respect for Hovermyr
IMHO Howver Myr is better than Spinned Thopter, simply because the 2 life is relevant when your running Porcelain Legionaire. Vault Skirge pays for itself and the Legionaire for me is too good not to have. But having 3 creatures deal damage to you may put you at a disadvantage.
I liked Howver Myr when i had him because he allows you to block and attack each turn, with TS he alone can tip the board position in your favor so he has more Utility and less drawbacks than Spinned Thopter. That said im not running either of them in my current deck. I dont like Glint Hawk either, Glint Hawk Idol is MUCH better and works with TS.
Not to thread necro, but right now having a lot of fliers really seems to help. I'm going to try 4x Spined Thopters with 4x glint hawks and see where it takes me.
Wow old thread, back when i ran Porcelain Legionnaire Glint Hawk should be auto include, i dont like the Myr or Thopter, but the Myr is slightly better for pinging every game and maybe block. I think 24 creatures should be enough and all of them have evasion except memnite. If i HAD to have an extra creature i think i would still go with Porcelain Legionnaire instead of the Myr because of first strike

This isn't really a good example though tbh, as illusions and other similar u/w variants tend to get annihilated by TS anyway.
I'd love to hear more thoughts. I'm aware that Thopter's power alone makes it better than Hovermyr in a race, but what about a lot of decks running Gut Shot? Besides, I imagine Hovermyr would shut down Haunt and when TS is in play, it would shut down significantly more. I'm aware that neither are stellar, but is Spined Thopter really that much better? The fact that both Phyrexian mana fliers are the ones to get insta-gibbed really sucks.
I would play Hovermyr over Spined Thopter if you have a lot of Moorland Haunt, Gut Shot, and Vapor Snag in your meta. If you ahve none of those, I'd go with Spined Thopter. Both aren't great cards but Hovermyr is worthy of consideration IMO.

Over analizing time!
Myr 1/2 vigilance vs 2/1 (looses 2 life)
The extra 1 points of damage takes 3 turns to become a good investment, why?
t1 Spinned thopter (you loose 2 life)
t2 Atack for 2 damage (+1 compared to Myr)
t3 atack for 2 damage (+1 Compared to Myr)
So it takes 3 turns to deal back the damage you took, 4 turns to be a good investment
plus you cant block with Spinned Thopter
Hover Myr on the other hand:
-pecks for 1 every turn without tapping
-can block further protecting you from damage
