Round 1 vs Tempered Steel
Lose 2-1. I had no idea what he was playing so I kept a hand with no removal because I had 3 lands a lashwrithe and a crusader. bad call.
game 1 I lose roll, and he plays memnite land mox followed by 2 etched champions then a TS...not much I could do. played a batterskull t5, but his 4/4 champs rolled me.
game 2 he opens with inkmoth, memnite, mox, and t2 I drop a ratchet bomb and 2-1 him. This game comes down to the wire as he gets a TS out with 2 inkmoths and a champion. I barely won, and only because he used his dispatch on my nexus in response to the equip instead of waiting till attackers were declared. So I just paid the 4 life and equipped again ftw.
game 3 he mulls to 6 then goes memnite memnite land mox glinthawk idol, followed by land glint hawk, recast mox, idol to dump his entire hand t2. I'm sitting there with my 1 swamp in play thinking OMG! I actually almost stabilized with a 3-1 black sun, but he drew a 3rd idol and then a TS.
Round 2 vs blue/black infect.
Win 2-1
New magic player with a borrowed deck. Played this game friendly as he was friends with a buddy of mine. I gave him tips as we went along(when to cast mutagenic etc...) and let him take stuff back etc. He beat me game 2 with a silly big crusader/runechanter pike, so we went to 3 games. Snuck in a t4 specter/lashwrithe and discarded his hand. Mop up was easy after that.
Round 3 vs Solar Flare(kinda). Unburial rights, praetors, wurmcoils etc.
Win 2-1
Game 1 I get overconfident and he sneaks a sheoldred into the GY via alchemy. I didn't even see it there and t5 he Unburial rights. I had a crusader and vatmother but he just recycled blockers and killed my stuff off.
Game 2 I distress his gftt dont see an unburial rights in his hand so I sneak in a t4 specter/lashwrithe and he loses his hand. He draws into unburial rights but I had a t1 nihil spellbomb and cleared his GY in response.
Game 3 I discard a couple things, he removes my early threats, eventually I stick a lashwrithe followed by a hasted skittles. He tries to dismember, but the Spellskite is an allstar.
Round 4 vs mono white spirits
Win 2-1.
Game 1, I stupidly keep a 1 land hand and get stuck on 1 mana for 4 turns. I scooped after I discard my 3rd card.
Game 2 I open with a land, he drops a doomed traveler, I distress an mirran crusader t2 and he drops another doomed traveler. I drop a Skite for blockage, and he drops a voiceless spirit which I virulent at his EoT. I draw into 2 crusaders and a lashwrithe and he dies.
Game 3 he opens with doomed t1 and another t2. I open with land and distress him twice for 2 adaptive automatons. I play a skite and 4th land, He plays a voiceless spirit which I victim of night. I play a batterskull. He forgets about batterskull token and gives me 4 life to transform one of his travelers into a flyer. I draw into 2 lashwrithes and a stinger and he runs out of flying blockers.
Round 5 vs Blue White control.
Win...*cough*...lose 2-0
There were too many people so we were going to have to have 6 rounds. I had to drop because I had work in 5 hours and needed sleep. I wanted to play him for real and I swept him. But he is a good player and I didn't want to hose him into the pitty pack then turn around and drop, so I conceeded so he could still finish top 8.
@Lands: I don't like to lose a game due to mana scrw, so I'm playing 25. Sounds enough for me. Don't need to comment about Inkmoth, right?
@Creatures: 4 Specters are too much and 12 creatures isn't enough, so... 3 Specters. It's working fine.
The other 10 creatures are staples.
@Liliana: She's amazing, seriouly, I tried to get rid of her, and failed. There's no reason to play Tribute to Hunger over Liliana... She's not just a fogged edict, but a really good topdeck and if you opp doens't remove her when she comes into play, it's almost GG. If they focus on her, our creatures will eat'em alive.
@Removals: I'm splitting Doom Blades and Victims of Night 2/2 and it's working fine for me. Virulent Wounds are insane in my meta full of delvers, humans and illusions.
@Lashwrithe vs. Trigon: I tried both, as 4 of, and I like topdeckin Lash more than Trigon... The instant effect is a thing, but Lash puts way more pressure.
@Clasp: I read it as: "When ~ enters de battlefield, destroy target Illusion, Human or Wizard.
4, T: Deals 2 damage to target player, this damage can't be prevented or regenerated."
I've got more games with Clasp than Skittles... And it's a good topdeck also, because of the ploriferate thing, ofc.
@Gambit: It's working pretty much fine as 2 of.
@Distress: Those are 3 spots that I think about... Sometimes I love distress, sometimes I hate it... Idk yet..
in the red black version of the deck do you think olivia voldaren should be a sideboard inclusion?
she seems to make sense in that she could turn our opponents offense around, but at the same time she isn't a card that furthers out plan of poison.

I'm pretty sure graveyards are something you're gonna have to control or die no matter your deck, either by stopping people from casting or casting outta yours...wayyy too much recursion.
- great GY delve control
- will make our non exile removal spells meaningful (keep those surgicals sideboarded for their real purpose Gideon hate post distress) without that our removal spells are going to be close to worthless
- 1 mana cost provides a great t1 turn that will not screw the perfect play rotation
- Constant effect whereas nihil is single use (but potent)
The cons
- removal by U/W control will still own us, and exposed even more with the advent of undying and GY play. Oblivion ring will still own us.
- Makes our removal spells meaningful but at a cost- assuming 3-4 played to counter the GY threats = 3-4 less control/removal
- Does not exile GY cards and GY can still be returned to hand
So do we sideboard a few grafdiggers but keep nihil spellbomb main or just stick with nihil the whole way.
I love the way Mono Black infect plays, but I just keep feeling like there aren't very many options to change it. I've just been playing it with mostly proxies so it's not like I'm deeply invested in it, I just like the quick kills and interesting mechanic. (infect). Haven't created a sideboard because I don't have the real cards, not planning on taking it to FNM until then etc...
1x Curse Death's Hold was put in for testing purposes.
I only had 1 x Plague Stinger and it's been pretty control-not having them.

The lifegain from Tribute to Hunger I find is gamebreaking in aggro matchups especially against RDW. The life is simply huge because of the reliance on phryrexian mana.
Undying Evil is the only new card that can be used by us? I know that since we are playing Infect our options are limited, but that card seems to be the only playable black card at all. (Ok, we got Zombies too).
Even with me sometimes playing a BR Infect, red doesn't add nothing too.
So, how many Undying you plan to play? Maybe 2, to save our Nexus and dudes, and to Sac Specter and turn him back. I'm trying to find 2 slots in my heavy removal build.

Does Undying work with Nexus?
Spiteful Shadows could be fun in the mirror match.
Tragic Slip could find it's way into the deck depending on how the meta evolves since our guys tend to die a lot.
Other then that, you're right we didn't get much although I might try the new Mikaeus just for fun.
As far as I know, if Nexus are a creature you can target it, then it hit the byn and back to game as a normal untapped Land, and then we put a +1/+1 counter, despite of it be a creature anymore. And in a future activation that Nexus will be 2/2, cuz the counter stays there. But like I said, as far as I know.
Spiteful Shadows in enemy Vatmother would be fun in my build with Red and Chandra 3.0! But I won't try it. We will certanly get a BW Token deck, so I hope BSZ and Slagstorm techs gain some love.
as good as virlent wound or 1cc spot target is against illusions, the sacrifice clause on the illusions causing them not to gain poison counters as it causes virlent wound to fizzle is a problem. I got to say tumble magnet is much better in and for this situation.
I don't entirely see how curse of death's hold can be considered an answer to tokens. a lot of times it seems honor of the pure or Intangible Virtue are on the field long before curse can be played. thus enchantment for enchantment curse is negated.

So I've dismantled all of my decks other than my MBI...wanted to see what you all think. I actually haven't had a chance to play for a month or so and haven't incorporated cute things like Undying Evil yet, but take a look:
It's done very well in limited playtesting with friends, but could certainly use some tweaking. I was poking around for new directions for this type of deck and here were my thoughts:
Painsmith really stuck out as something with potential that I'm not sure anyone really uses (although I haven't read the whole thread). For a 2-drop you get an okay early blocker, but with a slew of cheap/free artifacts to back it up you get free pumping and deathtouch or murder an illusion whenever you drop one of many artifacts.
Livewire Lash has amazing synergy with Mutagenic Growth. T3 Whispering Specter, T4 Lash/equip and a mutagenic growth can easily shoot down their flyer, attack for 5 poison and wipe their hand. I really like Undying Evil with the Lash, too, and in a pinch it can equip Spellskite to bring down Mirran Crusader the next time it acts as a lightning rod
So those are my bits o' tech for MBI. Thoughts on tweaks include dropping the Trigons for Nihil Spellbombs or maybe another Swamp and a Skittles. I know 22 land is pretty low, but the top of this curve is only 4, so I haven't really had too many problems. Right now it's extremely aggro and either kills by around T6 or loses. I don't really like Plague Stingers much since the deck already has a bundle of 2-drops. I already swapped out Distress for Despise because I always seemed to have something better to do T2.
SB options are also welcome. It's pretty sloppy right now. Could use some life gain, maybe...lots of Phyrexian mana floating around in the deck

Yeah, my biggest problem is my threats getting killed/countered and cards outside Black's range (Artifacts, Enchantments, Planeswalkers) throwing off my tempo.
Gideon Jura and Liliana of the Veil are really bad for us to see, late game and early game respectively. That's not even mentioning how annoying Sorin, Lord of Innistrad looks to be with his streams of chump blockers and huge blowouts thanks to his emblems. And of course Oblivion Ring and Mimic Vat...ugh.
"Bound by hell-forged chains and fate-haunted circumstance. Well, then--let it be thus so--and men will have cause to tremble and flee when they hear the names of Elric of Melinbone and Stormbringer, his sword. We are two of a kind--produced by an age which has deserted us. Let us give this age cause to hate us!”
as good as virlent wound or 1cc spot target is against illusions, the sacrifice clause on the illusions causing them not to gain poison counters as it causes virlent wound to fizzle is a problem.
Removal is removal, wether they get the counter or no. And hex parasite has more applications than tumble magnet, i'd take hex parasite over tumble magnet any day.
As always the 5 spots dedicated to removal are purely a meta-game choice although I like to always have at least 2 Tribute to Hunger/Geth's Verdict in case they drop a Thrun or Geist.
I've taken out the Whispering Specters. I don't really feel like it's that big of a loss since they were always the first thing I sideboard-ed out anyway. I can't remember the last time I was playing a good deck and actually hit with one that would have made my opponent discard more then 2 cards.
The sideboard is pretty heavily anti-token since I expect to see a lot of b/w and w/u decks right after release. Of course the Ratchet Bombs are also useful against any werewolf decks I might run into since they seem to be getting some pretty big hype. I tend to go with Beast Within over Naturalize simply because it takes out planeswalkers but again, if you don't expect to be facing many Naturalize is cheaper. They both also take out Honor of the Pure/Intangible Virtue although giving them a token with Beast Within probably isn't a great idea.
Dropping a creature/Inkmoth with a Ranger's Guile and Undying Evil in hand is going to make it really hard for your opponent to win if they're not running counterspells or lots of burn. Don't be afraid to Virulent Wound your own Crusader/ Skithyrix so you can give them undying again either if they're not playing lots of X/1s.

That's it's terrible.
MBI's guys have some pretty good evasion so being blocked isn't usually much of a problem and the things that are blocking are often black/artifacts.
Gideon Jura and Liliana of the Veil are really bad for us to see, late game and early game respectively. That's not even mentioning how annoying Sorin, Lord of Innistrad looks to be with his streams of chump blockers and huge blowouts thanks to his emblems. Removal is removal, wether they get the counter or no. And hex parasite has more applications than tumble magnet, i'd take hex parasite over tumble magnet any day.

4 Ranger's Guile
4 Undying Evil
3 Tezzeret's Gambit
2 Doom Blade

3 Ratchet Bomb
3 Black Sun's Zenith
3 Curse of Death's Hold
3 Spellskite
3 Beast Within or Naturalize
