I'd say your best bet for beating MBC and most other control variants is going to be Thrun, the Last Troll. He can't be countered, he's hexproof and he can regenerate. Keep the mana open and you can chump block for days while Doom Blades, GftTs and dismembers rot in their hand.
Sure, you'll still have the problem with hand hate, but at least this gives another target that they have to choose from, perhaps leaving one of the cards you need in your hand.
She often will eat removal, but if your opponent Despises on T1 he is going to nab her rather than your other guys, because she is massive VCA against their deck.
You will have to race them, usually. Fog effects are better than lifegain against them but no one has room for that.
If he keeps smashing you with Phyrexian Crusader you will have to do something about it. Thrun with a Sword is pretty nice.

so has anyone else found green doesn't really pull its weight in a Human deck? I have cut my pilgrims and my hamlets in favor of more white humans, and havn't had any issues (except rebalancing my mana). I'm running a splash of green for 2 Mayors, 4 Beast Within, and 2 Townships. I think cards like Grand Abolisher and Elite Inquisitor fill green spots perfectly, and get even more boost from Hotp.

In a fight without sweepers, GW is superior to WW because our mans get bigger faster.
That said, I have seen a few folks running WW Humans and absolutely smashing face with it.
Personally, I like Mayor of Avabruck, Hamlet Captain, Avacyn's Pilgrim, and Naturalize too much to dip out on GW like that.
It may be a better deck in some matchups, but I feel like a properly-tuned GW list has better game in the field right now.
That may change if they print a human with protection from red.

I didn't think to swap Melria in, I'll have to try that. I'm pretty sure he'll be there today for Innistrad Game Day, I'll see if I can get a rematch against him.
I didn't have much trouble outpacing a UB Control deck that was there, so it's definitely possible I just had two really bad games.

This matchup was against one of my best friends and the person I playtest with all the time and the person i playtested against to make my WRR matchup better.
I was just too fast for him. Won both games in 4/5 turns.
2-0 (4-1)
Round 3 - Bant Pod
He got game one by playing Blade Splicer then metamorphing the splicer, then phantasmal imaging the splicer.
I get games 2 and 3 by turn 5.
3-0 (6-2)
Round 4 - UB Draw-NO
Worst matchup I've had in all playtesting.
G1- He gets game 1 by countering/killing everything I play out and milling me for 3 each turn with Nephalia Drownyard milling all my threats and leaving me with land draws. He finishes the game with Army of the Damned
G2 - I come out the gates - champion / mayor/ crusader, he BSZ for 2, i play champion and mayor on my turn, he scoops after playing think twice and not getting an answer.
G3 - Pretty much went the same as game 2, except he BSZ twice, both times my champion survived and i got a Kessig Cagebreakers that he couldn't get an answer for before i was going to swing.
4-0 (8-3)
Only me and one other guy were undefeated so we decided to split since we're friends, even though I'm pretty sure I would have won since he was playing WRR, which I've only lost to once, and that was only b/c i got stuck on 1 white source 2 games in a row.
i was thinking in put Elenesh, Titan Sun and green Shrine, to get some mana fast, and rush elenesh, or use this pretor to counter token deck... bad idea ?!

True story. I'm bringing my WW Humans to a tournament later on today. I'm contemplating over what to choose as a finishing sideboard.
The timely reinforcements are what i'm questioning. I'm not going to reveal my exact build as i feel that my work shouldn't be compromised from a net decker (it is comprised of Mainly Creatures and Enchantments) (I love Mesa Enchantress over Mentor of the Meek) ; however, in the playroom the list has gone 6-0-0 in sets. I'm Fumbling over Grand Abolisher or Day of Judgement for the possibly of wolf run. I just don't think Timely Reinforcements holds enough weight to prevail as a consistently useful sideboard choice. Any thoughts?

Gambit is probably the best choice for these types of decks. IMO every time i used it, it was a great helper for the boost and the 2 card draw is amazing.
Regarding my SB post I'm choosing 2x Grand Abolisher over Timely, it's just better for the Spellskite shannagins and those pesky removals and counters.
question how does contested warzone help us? it makes us more aggro in a way and it can be activated way cheaper
Contested Warzone isn't great for us. It's a noncolored mana source and we need to hit our colored drops and curve out. All they have to do is swing with a 1/1 and boom we're down a land.
You could sideboard it in against UB Control, maybe. But still, this is risky.
We need our lands for mana, which is why Township is so good. By the time we can use it we have 3-5 mans on the board.

Gambit was great. I have no issue paying 2 life for a guaranteed 2 cards. It's also so synergistic with champion an gavony township. I like it over LTS.
not a gw expert but your land count does not match your deck
21 lands with 1x7, 1x6, 2x5 even with the green shrine it is not ok. And also you will not pump the shrine fast because you have not a lot of green spell.
You also need to play the duals.
And mirran crusader win games on his own, should be a 4 of imo

Just got back from Innistrad Game Day, went 2-1 (only 3 rounds, only 6 people showed up). Was much more of an actual test than FNM last night.
Round 1 (2-1): Solar Flare
Aggro decks smash solar flare. He beat me one game because of mana starvation, but I played a hand I shouldn't have, so it was my fault.
Round 2 (2-1): Blue Control
He had a blue draw-no deck with Army of the Damned win con. He beat me the first game due to me underestimating how much removal he actually had against me, but once I slowed my pace a little and made him use his removal to tap out before playing anything big, it was pretty easy. MVP here was Mayor of Avabruck since it forced him to do things during his turn. He burned a lot of Forbidden Alchemy and Think Twice just to keep the mayor from flipping.
Round 3 (1-2): Mono White Token
Arguably the best deck currently. I'm definitely on board with Evanus that a little tuning and we can beat token consistently. First game was down to the wire at the end, very drawn out, we were both topdecking at 2(him)-3(me) life, when he landed a Timely Reinforcements for the win. Second game I played a hand with a plains, township, and 4 green cards. Took the risk and lost big time. Third game we raced each other, I almost had him but again, Timely Reinforcements won the game for him. The first game both of us were at our best. We both had ideal opening hands, and draws were very good. I definitely think we can take tokens down with the right tuning.

Went with fairly standard list.
Game 1: Played UB Control. Got absolutely murdered - Champion got doombladed, couldn't stick enough guys, BSZ'ed, etc. Widdled him down to 8 life or so, but after the second wurmcoil hit the table, I was done.
Game 2: I didn't buy Thrun (too cheap), and bought Shrine of Loyal Legions instead. Shrine seemed to be doing work - until ratched bomb showed up to ruin the fun. I got raped again. I think I should've bought Thrun.
On the whole, this is one of our worst mu's, and the best deck in the format. I'm considering mainboarding a Thrun: thoughts?

Game 1: Played against a friend piloting Mono Black Control. Gameloss for ****ing up the register sheet game one.
Game 2: I won easily - his 4 life lashwrithe equip got 5 for 1'ed by dismember.
Game 3: Came down to the wire, I won with a well placed oblivion ring at the end. Overall, we have a fine matchup - crusader is really play-aroundable and dismemberable.
Match 3:
Game 1: UB again. Got raped (again).
Game 2: Same thing. Got him down to 2 life both times, but couldn't finish the job.
1-2, drop.
I played a number of casual matches, including several against a friend piloting UW Puresteel (who won the gameday), and won almost all of them. Our only bad matchups seem like red and UB. Especially UB.
I plan on going 1 Thrun main, 1 or 2 side, keep shrine in side, add Nihil Spellbomb to side. For red, timely is good, and perhaps apostle's blessing or something if it's still bad. Celestial Purge is also a board option.

Took second place at my local Game Day with my G/W Human deck. Only losses were to a mirror match, another G/W Human that took first. And I would have beaten him too if I could have lasted *one* more turn on game 3.
Either way, fun stuff and I'm loving how the Human Deck is performing. Just constant pressure with a bunch of crazy awesome low cost creatures.
And I know a lot of people don't care for Elite Inquisitor but I got some good mileage out of him today. Sure his Pro-stuff doesn't matter often, but he was still a 2/2 with first strike and vigilance for WW.

First thing I noticed was you have 10 nonland, noncreature cards. That's too many IMO. 6-8 is better.
You appear to be running almost the same maindeck creature package as me, minus Doomed Traveler, so obviously I approve
Should probably go down to 22 land, however.
Sideboard looks good except for DoJ. Get that fool out of there. Baaaaad.

I plan on going 1 Thrun main, 1 or 2 side, keep shrine in side, add Nihil Spellbomb to side. For red, timely is good, and perhaps apostle's blessing or something if it's still bad. Celestial Purge is also a board option.

Either way, fun stuff and I'm loving how the Human Deck is performing. Just constant pressure with a bunch of crazy awesome low cost creatures.
And I know a lot of people don't care for Elite Inquisitor but I got some good mileage out of him today. Sure his Pro-stuff doesn't matter often, but he was still a 2/2 with first strike and vigilance for WW.
