When going against the leyline of Sanctity, a Grave titan or Nantuko still wins the match. Who cares if you can't target them, we just have to change our gameplan. This Friday, my creature plan is to run Grave Titans, Nantuko Shades, Abyssal Persecutors, Gatekeeper of Malakirs, Vampire Hexmages, and I'm thinking about adding Vampire Nighthawks (some creatures will be sideboard). Basically the plan is to give them too many threats to deal with, but only playing one or two at a time so as to keep from eating a DoJ, Coup, or Earthquake.
At the last FNM, I played the one-of Grave Titan twice, and I won both games easily, since most of their removal had already been used on Percy and Nighthawk.
My plan is to use Everflowing Chalice in order to ramp the Titan out a turn earlier, and I might even try to fit in a couple Grim Discovery or Disentomb for recurring that big boy.
Regarding our Leyline of Void, I do feel that it should be mainboarded. Vengevine, Knight of the Reliquary, Bloodghast, Sprouting Thrinax, and now the dreaded Mitotic Slime all are severely stunted with the Leyline. I saw all of those cards minus Bloodghast on Friday too, but by far the most devastating to me was the Slime. I went against a Rock deck with him, and I didn't even think about siding that in against him until immediately after the match and looking at my board again:facepalm:. The Slime hit the board, I blasted it with a Tendrils, and cringed...:uhh: Then a second one came down.:gaping: Followed by an Eldrazi Monument.:weird2: Yeah I'm running at least two Leylines main board from here on out.
well if an aggro deck with white will use leyline of sanctity like naya bant, or winnie? os course gatekeeper of malakir will be useless agins them.. do we have to use infest + consume the meek? or 3 consume the meek is enough?
- gate keeper of malakir
- consuming vapors

I'm sure it needs a lot of work, but it's a first draft. I'll let you know how it goes when I get some testing done with it
Have you considered Grave Titan over the Bloodwitch? I used the titans at my last FNM, and they win games on their own. I know the witch can too, but the Titan provides great CA while doing it.

Here's a few reasons:
John 3:16 John 8:12 1 Peter 2:24 James 1:12-13
Hebrews 13:8 Ephesians 6:10-17 Psalm 86:8-10
I just removed the 4-of persecutors in my deck to do some tinkering with a home-brew R/B Fling sort of deck, so I needed a replacement finisher in my MBC, and so I thought it would be a fantastic time for me to test out Corrupt!
I have it in there as a 3-of, and I think I just added another piece of removal in the 4th Percy slot. Anyways... my win-cons looks like this currently:
Heres what im thinking now, im also considering running just a curve based deck with nothing but threats (shades, nighthawks, abyssals, bloodwitch, titan)
Thoughts? There are so many cards I want to run so I'm having trouble with quantities. Leyline Of The Void any good? Does All Is Dust seem like it'd any good to combat Super Friends? Should I be playing Grim Discovery and fetches?
I plan on playing MBC post-rotation, it seems pretty strong to me. But I have a question about Nantuko Shade : For those of you who have tested it, how good do you find it ?
Depending on the meta, I may move the hexmages to the SB and replace them with Nantuko Shades. Thoughts about this ?
Nantuko Shade has been great. He forces the opponent to deal with it on your terms and late game it's a finisher that can be played for cheap. I'm also agreeing with the sentiment on Hexmage. If Super Friends isn't as prevalent come rotation I'm moving them to SB as well.
Is there any modification that you see? I wonder of cutting out 1 shade and 1nirkana and put in 2 titans. I choose Tutor over liliana vess because you can tutor on T4 and play it T5 and you still have your draw unlike liliana You tutor on t5 and got to top deck it on your next draw step which seems little bit slower and can get messed by PTE.
How bout you guys? does liliana work for you?
Ok so my friend on lackey Today played a Mono Black Control Deck he made and To me it looked like a really good deck. his had 4 Lich's, 4 Shades, No mainboarded IoK's, Consuming Vapors or all is dust. He said he wanted to make the deck more powerful and he challenged me to try and do it.
I have never played a Black deck in my life, and not a control player. I am more of an Aggro player. But when Playing against Black decks I have things I really do not like to see. So I created a Black Control deck with a heavy emphasis on removal. I also chose the Dark Tutelage over the Sign in Bloods because I seen it work ridiculously well today and I have ways to lifegain with Consuming Vapors, Tendrils and corrupt.
The creatures I chose are creatures than can stand up to a beating and at the same time, beat back themselves.
"Some call it a Habit, Cardboard Crack Addict
Tried to pull away, but now I'm Back At it
Love is Emphatic, cards need to be played
Hailing from the BA, accumulating CA"
Yea, those are MTG Bars. What can I say, I am a dork
The ideal go at this is to turn 2 Sign in Blood, turn 3 Gatekeeper, turn 4 Tendrils or Ball with Scry 2, turn 5 Mind Sludge, turn 6, Grave Titan, turn 7, Sorin Markov (down to 10 life, Grave Titan goes in for 10)
Any suggestions for me? It tends to work pretty well but i want to optimize it.
Overall i feel like i can land the pivotal turn 4 - 5 mind sludge more easily like this, and a follow up turns typically seem pretty good, following up with a turn 6-7 All is Dust pretty much spells victory. Early turns maintain a veriety of removal or phyl lich who seems to pretty much hold his own against non white decks. The white decks tend to o ring the artifact to 2 for 1 me but it hasn't been game breaking for me. Sometimes they like to point out that they are holding a day of judgment instead and its dead against the lich, or are worried about having to path him which combined with a turn 2 chalice might push me into a turn 4 mind sludge for 5. He doesn't have evasion though but for the most part a turn 3 wall that can block virtually anything on the ground isn't bad. Brittle Effigy has provided me with some more artifact targets for phyl, an additional out vs iona/emrakul and been pretty effective at hosing vengevines... really can't complain about it.
yeah pretty much. Normally i run 3 mind sludge MD to hopefully avoid the crappy top deck it tends to be and i pull off the T5 mind sludge "occasionally" probably like 1/3rd of my games as a rough estimate. But running 4 Tutors and 1 Sludge is "virtually" like running 5 mind sludge without the crappy top deck possibilities. I think i've really underestimated diabolic tutor builds. Turn 2 Everflowing Chalice Into a turn 3 Diabolic Tutor Is pretty nice.
Consume the Meek may make a singleton showing in the deck list also.
Heres what im thinking now, im also considering running just a curve based deck with nothing but threats (shades, nighthawks, abyssals, bloodwitch, titan)
I think your curve runs too high for Tutelage. I'd fit in another crystal ball (if you think you need them) or two and find room for vampire nighthawk. You also need sign in blood.
I took the following list to a local Tournament with 18 players Sunday made it to Top 4 before losing to Jund. I played against four of the top ten players in the area and did pretty well. Ill explain card choices and matchups after the list.
PS This is the third time I've played Standard EVER. I play Legacy and casual usually.
I had played Naya Vengevine the two weeks leading up to this and knew what the good players were playing (for the most part) and talked with some people that knew the meta even better whis influenced a couple decisions. The meta was full of creature based decks with no real control, except maybe one guy, so i figured I would just kill everything my opponent played, land a threat and call it game. I ran all the non targetted sac cards because, 1) it usually doesnt matter because they only have creature on the board and 2) it gives me outs for Persecutor other than Corrupt.
4 Persecutors may be too many, I'm thinking of goin to three but then I need to find another suitable beater. Nantuko Shade is absolutely AMAZING and should definitely be a 4 of in any mono black deck. Sword of Vengeance is better than most people give it credit for. It makes Shade stronger against everything b/c of first strike, allows Persecutor to win in 3 swings. and makes the Titan even better b/c he can assign 1 damage to any blockers and get in there for the rest. Marsh Casualties is perfect when your opponent opens T1 Heirarch, T2 Lotus Cobra and Heirarch and it doesn't kill my guys.
The SB. Marsh Casualties and Malakir Bloowitch will probably come out for 4 Duress. I'd really like to fit a 4th Deathmark in as well since it is good against almost every deck around. I sided it in every match except mono red. The Bloodwitches can go because Im really not scared of white creatures at all and it never even got a glance while I was choosing what to side in. Haunting Echoes is great against a lot of decks especially with all the removal in here.
Match 1 Mono Red: Lose 0-2.
Game 2 he was at 2 life I was at 3 and I had a Persecutor on the board and had Haunting Echoesd him removing a large chunk of burn spells. I had a corrupt in my hand and the mana to cast it, but only 5 swamps thanks to Tectonic Edge, but wanted to save it for my Persecutor. Yes I know it was the wrong the move. He Staggershocked me (I didnt think he had any cards in hand but I didn't ask) at the end of my turn for the game.
Match 2 Naya Fauna Shaman: Win 2-0
He played turn 2,3, AND 4 Fauna Shamans that all died to removal before they could get online. Got in there with some creatures and used a Consume the meek to wipe the board once. Game two was similar. I dont remember much other than killing 2 Fauna Shamans and getting hit with a Beta Lightning Bolt.
Match 3 Mythic Conscription?: Win 2-1
Game one he's on the play and gets a T3? Soverigns of Lost Alara and swings with with his Lotus Cobra to make quick work of me. In comes Deathmark again. T2 Nantuko Shade plus a Deathmark or two make quick work of him. Game 3 is a real fight with me drawing lots removal and a Persecutor with a Sword. Swing to just under 0 and play Consuming Vapors.
Match 4...?: Draw into T8
T8 I play against the only undefeated guy running mana dorks, Primeval Titan and Destructive Force. Win 2-0?
Game 1? I'm able to keep his mana guys dead and not get beat on too bad. Game 2 I kill all his guys almost as soon as he plays them but he gets D Force off 3 times while in the negatives. My Persecutor with a sword stares down his Titan and then my Titan comes out too. Eventually I have 3 mana and draw my 4th Gatekeeper.
T4 Jund: Lose 2-1
Don't remember a whole lot other than Blightning is bad. Game 3 I lost because I equipped my Shade with a sword instead of playing Persecutor or leaving Tectonic Edge and a mana untapped for his man land. Shade Got struck by Lightning and his Putrid Leech and man land got in for just enough. I would've killed him the next turn if I remember correctly.
Overall I think it worked extremely well. Like I said earlier, Duress is going to make it into the board to stop those pesky things like Destructive Force and Blightning. Please let me know what you guys think.

Please let me know what you guys think.
i would cut the doom blades and play them in sideboard.

Type 2: Mono Black Control
No. Nighthawks have no room in MBC. MBA ya, not control though.
Doom Blade/Smother/Deathmark would be much more efficient.
@Vegeta; Those lists are way more MBA than MBC, which there is a thread for already somewhere around here.
EDIT: Here ya go. =]
