After 2-2 ing my most recent FNM, I figured a couple of changes were in order. Metamorph is the best 4 drop in the deck. Spellskite is 100% a star, out of the board. Everything else seems to work pretty well, with exceptions for 2 things:
We have very little removal.
We have very little control.
I had to Mindslaver my opponent in my first match to cast HIS day of judgment so I wouldn't get Puresteel Paladin'ed to death. I also managed to Splinter twin my Wurmcoil Engine and a Treasure Mage thanks to Mindslaver.
But, I'm working on a rebuild that has at least a few into the roils. 3 might be the target number. And at least 2 hard counters.
Little removal is the price we pay... I run a couple pseudo-removal cards in my U/W version such Mortarpod and Contagion Engine. I'm thinking about working in something else... not sure yet. I also just started running two hard counters (1 Deprive/1 Stoic Rebuttal). I actually think Mental Misstep should possibly become a sideboard card against MBC if that becomes more popular.
MBC hasnt been showing up much at my FNM's because it folds SO hard to Sword of Feast and Famine. Mental Misstep does stop some other nastiness though, like Lightning Bolt and Condemn.
I also found that running two baby jaces was pretty tech against Splinter Twin, what with all the brainstorming they need to do to get the combo off sometimes. Just sitting on Jace Beleren for three turns helps enormously.
I also think that meta wise, we could potentially run 1 each of the 6 CMC artifacts, and in a couple of matches, I did just that to great effect. Having 3 spellskites and 4 flashfreeze main was crucial to my two eked out victories.
My previous list will be addended to have an extra Jace B. in the board, and I may just do away with the one drop approach entirely, to move towards more control. I think the idea of playing control to turn 5, and then powering out our artifacts might be the way to play this forward.
Its a fun deck in any permutation, but no removal = tier 2 no matter what we do to the maindeck. If only we had a one drop with a useful ability tacked on.
Has anyone been considering Ub? I was having some success with that list before, though I've been putting my limited interest in standard towards soul sisters for the last few weeks. It gets around the lack of removal at the cost of a very slightly more shaky manabase. 12 duals goes a long way towards reliably hitting colors.

[Pr]Jaya | Estrid | A rotating cast of decks built out of my box.

i JUST woke up and was like: "oh F&%k you CAN, because it´s and artifact!!"
sweeeeet haha. My bad
We do in fact have too llittle removal. In my case, i´m running 2 contagion engine, not the best removal, mainly cause we don´t run infect (except for the nexus) but if we get the chalice and thrumming bird/nexus online with an already poisoned opponent, it´s pretty much over. And triskelion as a hawk/goblin/myr etc etc killer. I think trisk is pretty nice, may EVENTUALLY remove it. I was gonna play 2 but it´s probably the worst fatty of all. I still don´t have him so i can´t say much, but, not really sure it would be too threatning to play this guy t3.
And i´ve been thinking that tumble magnet is good but not sure if we can rely on it that much.
As soon as my cards arrive and i get to play my first FNM i´ll give you guys the details!
I have started to love the chalice for it´s epicness. And i feel so sad we´ll be losing it :(. What are the chances of a reprint again? Sphere of the suns is disgusting compared to that beast.
I´ve already done tons of stuff with the mindslaver, played a dude just to gftt it or lighning bolt everything he had. It was nice
so, you think the one drops should be removed for some sort of counterspell, removal or maybe little jace?
Has anyone been considering Ub? I was having some success with that list before, though I've been putting my limited interest in standard towards soul sisters for the last few weeks. It gets around the lack of removal at the cost of a very slightly more shaky manabase. 12 duals goes a long way towards reliably hitting colors.
I tested U/B for awhile and was never happy with how it performed. Now, I'm playing U/W which is pretty awesome.
As for the lack of removal, at least in U/W I can play DoJ, Condemn... etc I'm still in the semi-testing phase and I'm not sure what the meta is like since I haven't played an FNM in like 3 weeks.
@ PaBlItO
Tumble Magnet is a very very important card in this deck. I play at least 3.
Playing a blue one drop isn't necessary, but it will speed up dropping fatties. I recommend testing with and without them. What 1 drop are you playing currently??
The one drops are the hatchlings. They own aggro because they survive, giving me time to drop something big. (sideboard 4 perilous myr, amazing against kuldotha, that stupid crusader crap, hexmage, gatekeeper and why not birds or llanowar elves too)
I´ve got the cryptologist´s, but i feel that they are pretty weak against red or really agressive decks.Porbably nice against UW control though.
The main problem i see with this card, is that i don´t want to level it up asap; By the time i´ve got 2 mana open, i´d rather play a thrumming bird or a preordain to get another kraken (hopefully) if i´ve got the architect/fatty in hand
The kraken takes 2 phyrexian crusader hits, and stops a lot of things. With an architect out it gets pretty fat too.
The only thing i miss, is, of course, flash effects. The crypologist could be nice if i get to draw an extra leyline and need to discard it. I think it´s probably impossible though i´ve been playing with it and it´s really nice to drop a treasure mage, block, and potentially just drop fatty later (thopter foundry).
I got to play yesterday with a friend playing liquimetal coating to turn everything into artifacts and then just crush and naturalize every permanent i had, the leyline was a target multiple times. It was pretty fun because in gatherer, if you look up "spine of ish sah" there is a dude who wrote "Fine, i´ll just naturalize it... wait, HOLD ON" and that´s exactly what happened to me...haha. Flashed in a spine and the dude said and did exactly that. Fun
finally, i´ve got a feeling i should run 2 metamorphs and 1 side, because i mainly use it as a defensive card, waiting until they drop a bomb to copy it (sword, batterskull...that would be nice). Is it a good idea to play it that way, or should i just say "☺☺☺☺ it" and stary copying wurmcoils and hellkite (awesome card by the way... holy cow)
I´ve got to say, i´m starting to really like the interactions of this deck though!
I'm playing around with maindecked Dismember. It's nice to have proper removal in mono blue (Into the Roil only gets us so far...), but 4 life is a lot. It seems like if I can stick a Wurmcoil shortly after dismembering a key part of my opponent's strategy, i end up way ahead and can usually squeak by but without that big chunk of lifelink health, it's often does more harm than good...
i´m not a big fan of dismember... people at my local store said it was "sick". Seriously, if you think you can just play 4 and no black mana generators, you´re crazy it WILL add up.
I think you should probably play black for this. Kills for 1 and 4 lives or 2 and 2 lives (looks a bit better to me)
kuldotha red has a new buddy, because removal was their problem (if you get wurmcoil down and survive a turn, it´s over)
You could max out on wurmcoils and life won´t even matter that way. But i think you´ll be better off playing black and you could put in 4 drowned catacombs just for dismember and sideborded cranial extraction or dispise though =/

i don´t get the lone spell pierce or liliana =/
And what are your thoughts on blight agent. I might play him if i caw blade keeps topping at fnm, i could copy a sword equip it and smash with the agent. could be fun.
No one drops? I see it takes a more infect/based game plan.
I like it. Only thing i would do is probably take the mana leak spell pierce and put in some more hand disruption, probably IoK... i dunno. Not even playing black though.
Agreed on Blighted Agent and Inkmoth Nexus. That's all you need (though Necropede hoses aggro so hard, why not?). With Contagion Engine, 1 poison could easily mean your opponent's demise.
I almost always side in Blighted Agent so I might start mainboarding it. It's just so awesome to stick a Battleskull or Sword on him.
Agreed! Pity I bought all my UB duals instead of some Tezzerets... I might borrow some *shrugs*

I was just testing Liliana. I thought her ultimate might be easier to pull off with tonnes of proliferate lying around. On the lone spell pierce, I preferred having one copy of spell pierce in the main lol. I just think it's easier to leave up Ufor Jace/Gideon/forcing through Grand Architect, than the 1U needed for a 3rd mana leak. Although, I'm beginning to think that I don't run enough counterspells to make them worthwhile... I'll test more and revise ^^
Taking suggestions. I reserve the right to ignore them, as my meta is like <10 people and I know their decks very well. (No Caw-Blade :D)
Maxed out on wurmcoil (nice)
Don´t think there is a real reason to play 2 mindslavers =/ though
Have you tried the hellkite? it´s pretty nice, gets insane amount of pump if you got your little dudes the chalice and the architect going on.
I haven´t really got (got or gotten? not a native speaker hehe) to try them yet, but the spellskites look like sideboard material for splinter twin and if you know that there is going to be extra hatred sided in for artifacts. Also, caw blade is playing (in my meta) divine offering, so after game 1 for example after you get to clone a sword and kick ass with the agent, there is probably going to be something to try to stop this madness, thus bringing in more artifact hate.
All in all, what i mean is, that it´s quite noticable that artifact hatred should be sided in after game one on their side.
I ,for example, play only one wurmcoil that i´m actually going to sideboard out JUST because of jace and stick a battlesphere in because not only can it get some damage in (tapping the tokens or even attacking with them) but it doesn´t get bounced... 4 more tokens FTW!
I´m running 1 triskelion JUST in case, because it shoots down little dudes or planeswalkers, and can proliferate insanely with the engine...
My latest addition was the metamorph, but i also want card draw. Should i take out the preordains and stick in steady progress or tez gambit?
I LOVEE that there at least 2 ways to begin kicking ass with the deck
t1, land
t2, land thrumming bird
t3, land chalice for 1, attack with bird (chalice for 2) tap chalice and 1 land treasure mage for fatty
t4, fatty
or the t3 architect with fatty and 2 dudes
maybe steady progress could be nice
t1, land
t2, land thrumming bird
t3, land ,chalice for 1, attack with bird (chalice for 2) pass
end of turn for opponent tap chalice and land for steady progress (i just HATE sorcery speed card draw)
t4, land attack, chalice now has 4 counters and fatty (even without the bird attacking you´ve got 6 mana open or 7 if you play a land)
looks pretty nice either for battlesphere or emperion =/ (if you get by with the bird)

Even our best starts roll over to a day of judgment followed by a batterskull though. Without addressing the fact that we can't blow up artifacts or creatures, we're only going to get rogue wins with this deck.

Architect gives us a huge ramp that is lost easily to DoJ...in that case toolbox Caged Sun before the impending doom. Even if they play DoJ, we keep the ramp, for virtually the entire game and match. Unless they sideboard Revoke Existence. Wurmcoil wins, but Wurmcoil can be Condemned. I'd only play Caged Sun against control though. As for Batterskull, I think Tumble Magnet and Metamorph handle that just fine
Lodestone Golem is still incredible. It might make Architect cost 4cmc,...but it makes an entire U/W deck cost 1cmc more. That 1cmc pisses them off more than anything and it never did hang around for very long.
I really don´t think you should play caged sun though. Please discribe a situation in which this card is game changing as it comes in AND drawing a fattie would have been worse =/. But that´s just me.
As @Zeros mayhem stated, the metamorph and tumble magnet could be pretty devastating against that sort of events.
The reason i don´t play the golem though is because "on paper" it didn´t surprise me that much and, i was having a REALLY hard time finding a spot for one, much more 3 (my original idea).
I could try it ou though
PS: in addition (this isn´t really a global phenomenon but...) the caw blade deck here have stopped putting in Gideons AND wrath´s... new cards include emeria angel, third sword, and the obvious batterskull. no idea why

A DoJ will wipe your field which will include a Thrumming Bird, Grand Architect, and maybe a treasure mage. The wurmcoil lives somewhat but you lost a lot of mana ramp. And that's if they didn't wait to Condemn or Journey the Wurmcoil and then DoJ.
Caged Sun (like Tumble Magnet) is virtually immune to any card U/W has (besides counters). It doubles your mana pool which allows you to play your fatties without the need for Architect. It pretty much does almost everything Architect does without the weakness of being a creature. And unlike the fatties, it can't be condemned, it can't be Journeyed, and it can't be destroyed by day of judgment. It can also be a target of Metamorph if needed.
As for Lodestone. The 1cmc increase is a such a massive pain to control. If you managed to play Metamorph on that forget it, that game is looking very good for you. What are they gonna do? Preordain for 3?

I still don't like Caged Sun... at least with with my U/W build, if I need more mana I'll search up SoFaF and equip it to an Inkmoth which generally survives DoJ. Also if I have Venser out, I'll just make Inkmoth unblockable.
