So I wanted to put together a Type 2 deck using as many cards from the SoM block as I could, not only so I could play with my friends but so that it would last me a good deal of time. I wanted to avoid Infect, and one of my friends made a Metalcraft deck, so I decided to try out Myrs, because they seem really neat. Here's what I came up with:
Gold and Palladium Myr are my mana producers, and they help everything roll out fast. Perilous Myr is just too cool, and can help me deal with some dangerous weak creatures. Hover Myr is just amazingly useful, and the only flier I have in here. Myr Galvanizer is the deck 'lord', and he'll make my Myr troops deadlier by the second. Myr Superion is a huge bruiser that can come out really easily with all my mana production, and Myr Battlesphere is just hilarious. Plus, totally deadly! I know that Elesh Norn and Wall of Omens don't really fit the theme, but I love Elesh and think she'd be really useful, and Wall of Omens is in for cheap blocking and some card draw. So yeah, really don't want to drop Elesh :X
Dispatch is my creature removal and can take out any creatures in my way, and Apostles Blessing can be useful for an unblockable attack, to beat a big creature, or simply to protect one of my creatures. Tempered Steel is devastating, and Myr Reservoir is nice mana production and can keep my Myrs safe; Emeria can keep all my creatures safe too if the game goes on too long. The Sword is in just because I got lucky at a draft last night and pulled it, so I want to use it!
So...thoughts? This is my first type 2 deck and I'm a little worried about how slow it is; do you think it's ok? How can I help these adorable things turn into real killers? Thanks!
It looks like a fun deck, but myr just lack the support to be a competitive deck. For friendly play, kitchen table duels, and even less hardcore FNM scenes though, this will probably serve you well.
that said, more tempered steel is never a bad thing, and some sweeper insurance would be helpful. shrine of loyal legions comes to mind, and it's even on theme.

Mainly it'll be used for fun with my friends, but a few started going to type 2 games at a local store, and I thought it would be fun to have something in case I went with them. I know it's not the best deck in the world, but I was hoping that it was decent.
That Shrine IS awesome, and it saved my butt at the prerelease draft. But I don't know what to cut for it, or even for another Tempered Steel (great card, but do you think 4 is too many?).
I am a big fan of Myr, and I am sad that it is near impossible to build a good Myr deck. That said, Shrine of Loyal Legions is good for resistance to board wipes, and many a win comes from Myr turbine combined with battlesphere. I recommend packing a DoJ or two.
I'm torn on Myr Turbine; it's good, but I don't really know where to put it. The Shrine might make a good sideboard if I'm playing against someone that does a lot of DoJ stuff, and...hmmm, it would be cool to have one or two of my own but again, really really not sure what to take out for it...
If you want to play myr, then you want to attack with hordes of weenies! Who needs blockers anyway
If you're looking for DoJ resistance, maybe try Myr Sire? It's just a fun card lol.
Also, I'm skeptical of playing Emeria in an 18 land deck. It slows you down, and in most games, won't even have a relevant effect! If you want reanimation, maybe try Marshal's Anthem. I want that card to work somewhere ^^ I'd bump the land count to 20, maybe including tectonic edges if you have/want them. Or, if you'd rather not be mean, Quicksand is still fun, and gives some good utility.
Chibi, those are good ideas. I decided to put in one Myr Turbine just to see how I like it, so I'm going to see how this goes. Thanks though!
Mobo, that's very interesting advice. The Marshall's anthem card looks neat, but I'd rather just bump Tempered Steel to 4 honestly; that, Galvanizer, and 2 Elesh Norn's seem sufficient for pump ups. I will take out the walls, though; the spot could be used better. Myr Sire is certainly not bad, but not something I really see as a priority. I prefer Perilous Myr, that's like my favorite Myr, haha. I don't really know about Quicksand (funny card though) but Tectonic Edge seems perfect, thanks.
m4nu, that looks like a very interesting deck; to be honest, I had thought about R/W. Galvanic Blast is just awesome, and I know Splinter Twin is really popular...but your deck almost seems more reliant on Splinter Twin itself than on anything else. Not trying to be rude, but it seems like a different direction than what I want. Neat deck though, I certainly like it. I think I'll avoid the Splinter Twin route if that's ok though :3
That's fine :). The splinter-twin is a win condition, certainly, but I find the Battlesphere wins more often than it. I usually win through Tempered Steel aggro, using apostle's blessing to get through defenders or shrug off removal, depending on the situation.
Oh yeah, I really like your deck; Tempered Steel is amazing, and I love how your sideboard looks. Revoke Existence is wonderful, but what do you think about Dispatch?
I had one of these back when we only had SOM. Add some portals or mimic vats. They both do a lot of work in this deck, and provide an (off color) control element.
I guess OP wants it to be 'keyworded' like "dies" was. What word would you replace ETB with though?
When Aegis Angel is born?
When Huntmaster of the Fells arrives?
When Kitchen Sphinx lands?
When Faerie Imposter busts in?
When Dread Cacodemon pops in?
When Malfegor shows up?

I prefer Prototype Portal to Mimic Vat, although I feel like I should put Voltaic Key in if I go that route.
