IMO valakut is very inconsistent. It can get turn 4 titans... But it's very rare. Eldrazi gets consistent turn 4 titans with the occasional turn 3 titans.
All the valakuts that I've played against usually run slimes as their artifact, enchantment, and land hate.
The only time that I usually lose to valakut is when they do end of turn trap into AoZ... Even then I am usually able to dust the board because I MD 3 AiD's.
Without Primeval Titan you kind of have to ride Overgrown Battlement and Wall of Omens to victory. If it dies you'll need to bring it back, so use Sun Titan to bring it or them back... And Expedition Map will have to be your Eldrazi Temple or Eye of Ugin fetcher.
~SNIP~
If you live in Magical Christmas land you can do this:
Turn 1 -> Forest, Treespeaker (5 Cards Left)
Turn 2 -> Plains, Level Treespeaker, Overgrown Battlment (4 Cards Left)
Turn 3 -> Plains, Wall of Omens, Wall of Omens, Overgrown Battlement, Overgrown Battlment (2 Cards Left)
Turn 4 -> Eye of Ugin, Pay 7 to Fetch Emrakul and cast, get an extra turn.
Turn 5 -> Attack with Emrakul, Fetch 2nd Emrakul and cast, get an extra turn... repeat Turn 4.
If you can't get Sun Titan, Perimeter Captain costs 1 and adds to defender count. [-4 Sun Titan, +4 Perimeter Captain, -1 Growth Spasm, +1 Expedition Map]
Hoping to test this in apprentice at some point.
Really just nitpicking here, but that's what I do. Your Magical Christmas Land must have a Grinch or something, because you can't do your turn five/six move. Sure, you cast your second Emrakul and take your extra turn, but upon seeing each other both Emrakuls go pop as the legend rule takes effect.
I don't see how the Zenith helps mge over valakut. They tutor prime and almost immediately win off triggers. MGE does it and gets eye and temple. As for ramp, most valakut lists these days run either overgrown battlement or lotus cobra in the 2cmc slot, so they can tutor ramp as well. also, they run oracle of mul daya in some builds soif they are sitting on 5 mana they can grab him and ramp like that too.
True. I was just a bit overexcited there. Our Valakut matchup will probably remain around 55/45 or even after MBS's release.
I don't see what you guys are talking about, "Eldrazi Green Dying". We got Green Sun's Zenith, which I am definitely playing a few of, just because of its versatility. This deck is too dependent on god draws, as someone pointed out earlier, and Green Sun's Zenith helps shore that up by basically being a ramp spell or a Primeval Titan. Postboard, I'll always board in another green creature (think Thrun, Baloth, Terastodon, Acidic Slime). For sideboard, we also got the aforementioned Thrun, as well as possibly Phyrexian Revoker? Anyways, to me Eldrazi Green looks to be on the rise no matter what pessimists say. Basically, there are no viable aggro strategies right now (the best being Elves/GW Quest, neither of which I am afraid of), we have a good matchup against control, and we just got much better against Valakut (GSZ helps us more than them as most/all of their ramp isn't creature based).
The problem with MGE is you rely on god hands, successful traps and have no backup plan. its fatty or bust. I played it for approx 7 months an dI am just tired of how bad it can be. Also im sick of decks with red taking over my stuff and killing me with it. this is why I switched to valakut. my Eldrazi and AIDs will be sad in my binder, but oh well.

I like Wall of Tanglecord better than Fog because Fog is a one-use thing while the Wall is hard to get around (and it helps pump your Battlements).
Yeah I actually prefer the wall over fog as well... i was just thinking it'd be nice to blank a huge attack from an elf deck, but i believe it's stupid to have a sideboard card that would only be used against one deck. so i am thinking about this side board?
and yes, i run x3 all is dust main deck... so against elves and GW quest, i'd have x3 ratchet bomb, x3 AiD, x2 nature's claim, x3 wurmcoil engine, and a platinum emperion... i am hoping that'll get the job done! i dunno if id wanna run the walls against those two decks because i'd rather try racing them to emrakul... i can usually cast emrakul around turn 5 if all goes right!

I still don't understand this.
If your hand doesn't ramp, you're going to mulligan it. That seems pretty obvious. Otherwise, the deck can do plenty of stuff. I feel that my deck runs thin on win-cons and still has at least 16 cards that win me the game. Consistency is far from an issue with this deck... the bigger problem is usually the skill level of the pilot.
As for GSZ, I've tested it and don't like it much. It feels too clunky; sure you have a toolbox, but you're either cutting consistency or win conditions to play a card that serves no purpose 80% of the time other than to (unsuccessfully) replace itself. No thanks.
Anyone main-decking Thrun? Anyone tested Knowledge Pool yet? It seems strong in Eldrazi-heavy builds. Is Thopter Assembly complete trash? MBS rose some questions that I haven't been able to answer yet due to time constraints.
When Terastodon comes into play and on ETB effect on the stack, if I target my own tectonic edge to blow up, can I respond and tap 1 open mana and sac the edge to destroy my opponent's land and still get a 3/3 beast token???
no, the ability will get countered due to an illegal target
Incorrect.
When Terastodon enters the battlefield, you may destroy up to three target noncreature permanents. For each permanent put into a graveyard this way, its controller puts a 3/3 green Elephant creature token onto the battlefield.
Please don't talk about rules if you don't know what you're talking about.
If you choose Tectonic Edge as one of your up to three targets then pop the Edge in response to the ETB trigger, you don't get the Beast token because it wasn't put into the graveyard via Terastodon's ability. In that respect you're better off choosing only two targets and just popping your Tectonic Edge separately as in your scenario nothing is happening by making it a target.
Tested with and without. Zero main, zero side. I like it that way. I have more consistent Traps, better topdecks, and the only times I wish I had it I think of all the times I'm glad it wasn't wasting space in my hand.
That's fantastic man... I am glad the list is working out well for you as it has been for me!
I ended up making adjustments to my sideboard due to the growth of aggro in my meta, especially GW Quest and Elfs!
My new sideboard goes:
x3 Ratchet Bomb (used to only run x2)
x4 Wall of Tanglecord
x1 Wurmcoil Engine
x1 Platinum Emperion
x2 Nature's Claim (dabbled with taking this out, still iffy on it...)
x2 Gaea's Revenge (used to run x3, such an amazing card!)
x2 Terastodon (dabbled with taking this out as well. I really only used it against the mirror match and valakut... and I am really only the MGE in my meta and there's one valakut player that usually plays different decks every tournament.)
Any way I am happy to hear that your doing big things with this list! running x3 of the spells that normal build run x4 isnt so bad! plus i feel that it cuts down on the mulligans!
Yeah quest is more of a combo deck then aggro, you really just need to kill them before they go off as opposed to trying to buy yourself time. I like Emperion in a lot of matchups, you can chump him on a plant token or a wall if he gets Marked and even if he doesn't live very long he buys you the time it takes your opponent to deal with it which I think is a plus
as for walls vs. baloths the jury is still out for me, I'm testing the walls in place of baloths at the moment but I see the benefits of both.
walls:
ramp you if you have battlement in play
can stop flyers
are not a mark target
do not gain you life
do not trade with anything
baloth
at least trades with most of aggros beaters
gains you life
can act as a beater if necessary
is a mark target
can't block flyers
Like I said I'm testing walls at the moment, but won't hesitate to switch back to baloths if the walls flop.

I thought Slime was a staple whenever you run green, but I've seen more and more Eldrazi Green lists cutting it lately. I've been considering them for main deck in a control heavy meta over Wurmcoils since the baneslayer thrinax is such a dead card against them while slime can blow up key lands or take out a spreading seas in game 1. What do you guys have to say about Slime?
(note: also in conisderation for Wurmcoil's slots are Terastodons, while better to trap into, they are harder to resolve with a hard cast)

I main deck 2 with one on the side.
Your only answer to avenger of zendikar.
Great Game one sweeper against over extending decks like quest, boros, vamps and elves.
Great against U/B control against Jace and Grave titan. (assuming you dont get it countered....)
only answer G1 against a abyssal persecutor
Its awesome to dust then swing with eldrazi to enforce the scoop even further, or to not lose.
Yeah the removal is a big problem, especially against decks like Vampires that I wish some for. I'm so far 0-4 against R/B Vampires, they're just too quick and by the time I get an Eldrazi it's already too late or it's hilariously Mark of Mutiny-ed for the finish (if it's not Emrakul of course...which hardly is). I'm going with 3 maindeck All is Dust now, rawr!
I main deck a single mountain and 4 copperline gorge to add pyroclasm off the board for G2 and 3 against vamps and others.
The scars duel still gives us an untapped green source for the 1st 3 turns for our nut draws and I find myself in more situations loving the splash then wishing the land did not come into play tapped late game.
Playing a clasm on T2 to get only one, but hopefully 2 creatures can buy your 1-2 turns before they plop a demon on the table. Hopefully you have found yourself a tumble magnet by then.
I believe it's a preference thing. Either Acidic Slime or Terastodon. Some run a 2/2 split, which is nice as well! Some like that Slime can blow up one land, an artifact, or an enchantment... other like that terastodon can blow up those plus planeswalkers, but not just one, up to THREE. Some think Terastodon gives you more value, others think acidic slime can be more valuable beacue of the given qualities PLUS deathtouch, which is extremly nice!
IMO the reason why some will sway to slime over terastodon is because terastadon give your opponent tokens... but IMO, it's all how you play the don!
For me, I am in favor of either or lol... sometimes i like slime, sometimes i like dons...
Really? Well I guess that's your opinion... Please play test it and let us know how it goes I suppose! I am all for no additions to making this deck better!
Considering our habit of more or less emptying our hands quick to land ramp, has anyone thought much of bringing in Lead the Stampede?
I'm going to bring 2 in for FNM tonight to give it a try, but it feels like it could be a good addition to our deck, not as a 4 of, but maybe as a 2 or 3 of.
