I agree with this statement. I do like the Phyrexian one a lot more than the Mirran one, but I think I'll stick with my "What Color Would You Like Me To Beat You With Today?" and ":symtap: That Ass" shirts.
I don't have any hard numbers on this, but I'm targeted more often than a black guy driving a beat-up sedan with a broken tail-light and no license plate, and Cy's well aware of that.
We have not officially opened this forum yet. But to answer your question: This forum is going to house discussion of various combo decks in Standard because their viability comes and goes at random times. We'll either be adding decks ourselves or allow users to create threads about certain combo decks. We haven't ironed out the final details yet.

the controversial portion of Matignon's deck would be the Kiln Fiend sideboard plan. He said in a later interview that he wouldn't play it again. it was supposed to be an option vs. ??? nothing apparently.
i think he wanted to use it vs. UW control anticipating that they would board out Wall of Omens and Path/Condemn so he'd have a clear shot at bashing for a bunch with Kiln Fiend. I get the impression that in practice alot of UW guys actually keep the Walls in just because they cantrip, so that really screws up the whole plan. They get to chump the first attack with a Wall and the second with Elspeth tokens or whatever. it ended up not working out properly.
i think the far superior SB card vs. UW Control is just good countermagic, since what they're most interested in doing is either countering or destroying your Ascension. Negate is a given. Second choice probably goes to Spell Pierce as negates 5-8.
Kind of a niche combo deck that is particularly good at preying on UW Control (or any deck with Jace, the Mindsculptor). This recently placed 2nd at Spanish Nationals.

my thoughts: nice metagame call. probably good against Titan Ramp decks as well. Might have problematic matchups with decks that can exploit its howling mines. RDW, Jund, Naya, maybe even Mythic could be a bad time.
In my opinion, you should state that only Runeflare, Pyromancer's Ascension, and Time Sieve can be discussed in this forum. Or else you have people discussing things such as Kiln Fiend Fling combo....
This deck seems to fold to any form of aggro, most notably RDW, mythic conscription, and naya vengevine. It simply doesn't have enough ways to deal with creatures. I think a combo deck is nice, but it's gotta need some form of blockers. Why not find room for calcite snapper/sea gate oracle/something else?
Unfortunately, lost in the first round of top 8 due to inability to get a fifth mana! Will definitely run 24 lands in the future. Beat several Jund decks, Esper, and others all day long. Never saw a UW control even though they were 70% of the decks there that day! Had to fight through every matchup. Only losses were to a Vengevine Naya deck in round one (saw no cards I needed in either game) and then in the top 8 to a nice RBG Destructive Force/Titan deck. As I said, lost only to mana screw in that one. Won game one, was at 4 mana when he tapped out for JtMS and I Leaked it. I had a Mine out and 2 Time Warps in hand. All I needed was a mana to go off and didn't see one for 3 more turns, right after he cast Destructive Force...
i encountered a Urgw version of this deck a while ago that splashed green and white to play naya charms to regrow spells and to tapp out as a fog effect, it also ran fog

Jund's second rampage! :symb::symr::symg:
There are a bunch of variants of this deck running around, most with a UR base. Some splash white to bring in baneslayers out of the board. Some bring in Calcite snapper as a generally more robust option than kiln fiend. This deck deals pretty well with early pressure through bolts and bursts, then hopefully combos on turn 5. A lot of this running around in my local meta. If you are going to run this deck it is important to have a plan against relic of progenitus and bojuka bog coming out of the sideboard of a lot of decks. For that reason cards like snapper or Baneslayer make a lot of sense for stalling or alternate win conditions.
After being totally wrecked by the only mill in my LGS recently I might have to find some SB tech against it too.
I run a single Elixer of Immortality and it's worked out great. Some people run one of the legendary Eldrazi.
I've been playing this over Runeflare Trap the last couple weeks. Not sure which I like better. This one is more resilient, more consistent and has a better game against aggro as well as most other decks, HOWEVER, there's a LOT more hate for it and it's really hard to protect the Ascensions, a lot more than trying to force out the RFTs.
With that said, last FNM I played this against Vamps and lost game one, then got hit by a Sadistic Sacrament in game 2 and still won that one. Game 3, ANOTHER Sadistic Sacrament turn 3 this time (each time he pulled out three Ascensions), and I still managed to get it out and active and then he cast Vampire Hexmage to strip it AND I STILL WON.
As this deck becomes more dominant in Meta-games, I think a new bounce spell is needed.
Regress works pretty good as it also bounces lands. I have sb'd just one in and passed the turn back to my opponent and he has no permanents in play!
I have put 4 Into the Roil's in over 4 See Beyond. I am questioning taking Halimar Depths and Treasure Hunt out for See Beyond and more basics.
See Beyond is not that bad. (I like that it let's me shuffle my single Elixir back in.) And I only run basic lands and Scalding Tarns. As I mentioned in the other thread for this, there is nothing worse than needing a single mana to go off with your Time Warps and drawing one of these.
Also some list run Howling Mine over Treasure Hunt.
I'm really torn on these. I actually like Temple Bell better as your opponent does not get the initial advantage. I would take them out against any deck that runs counters or o-rings or anything that can destroy your Ascensions as you do not want to give them cards. I'm playing Jace 1 now as it does two things: answers Jace 2 and draws only me cards.
The turbofog deck last year used a sideboard with 4 Baneslayers to take advantage of opponents siding out removal. My version of the deck does the same. 4 Sphinx of JI, 4 Conundrum Sphinx. This card caused some contraversy.
Last weekend, after winning game 2 for 2-0 against U/W control with my 15 in/15 out board, my opponent poked the card as I was putting it away accusing it or being "garbage." I calmly responded by pointing out it had done 4 damage to him, drawn me a card, and added up to killing him w burn and the bigger Sphinx. Also, I can board in only so many cards, so this card works well with top deck manipulation (scry, Ponder). Sphinx oJI may seem like a tough card to cast in a deck with so few lands, but put in more counters and leave the draw spells and it works pretty well. Draw/go U/R FTW.
EDIT: On Halimar D. I don't like them. Missing a Time Warp because of a tapped land or getting Tech' Edged. This deck relies on opponents having dead cards, why give them more live ones? Might be a tiny percentage of different, but those small increments win games.

Temple bell, while you get the first draw advantage, cost 1 more mana, and in this deck the lower the curve the better.
I'd definitely recommend running an alternate wincondition out of the sideboard or (ideally) in the maindeck. If an opponent puts down a Leyline of Sanctity turn 0...
A single legendary Eldrazi seems like a good idea... it is another way to win and messes with Mill's game plan a lot.
Yeah I forgot that detail: the smug look the U/W player had with that 0 turn Leyline. He even hardcast another! Sanctity isn't the problem. Leyline of the Void on the other hand, troublesome....

I'm having a very hard time beating any deck that runs red. My bud has a standard goblin/tokens deck that wrecks me all day. Red is clearly the hardest matchup for this deck. I was thinking maybe running UW or UR polymorph, instead of green, but green just seems better overall. Thoughts?

Since when is using Polymorph in the purpose for which it was created a combo? Polymorphing a plant token or an Eldrazi Spawn token is not, by any means, a combo.
I'm with battle on this one. Kiln Fiend + Fling and Polymorph are not combos in any real sense of the word. I agree that Runeflare, Ascension, and Time Sieve are the only true combo decks out there, and even Runeflare is getting close to pushing it.
Just out of curiosity, why doesn't this archetype play Jace, the Mind Sculptor? It seems like it would be a stellar addition (it is to any Blue deck, really). Brainstorming would be incredible.

Because it really does not help that much. I have a version that had Jace TMS main deck then put it into the SB instead, finally I took it out. You are already digging so deep into your deck with all the other cards, that Jace TMS does not really add anything to the deck.
They are the only competitive combo decks, I don't want to waste space in this sub-forum with people playing decks with Giant Growth, Fire Servant, and Fog. Polymorph I could see you making a case for, but it already has its own forum, so I don't believe it should be included in this subforum as well.
