This is the deck as I've posted on tappedout. The only difference between it and on FNM is -1 Demon, +1 Emrakul. You can even see that I posted the deck 2 months ago, but no one is playing Marvel like I have.
I've never had a problem playing against ANY version of BG Delirium on xmage or at FNM.
I've never lost to UW. And vehicles = autowin.
I'm not trying to brag. I'm just saying that after about 50 games on xmage, I would say I've lost 10-20% of the games. And for FNM, I wasn't able to go play for Nov/Dec, so I did most of my playing on Xmage. I went the other week (finally) and it went undefeated. All the while, watching GR Marvel make its way to the top.
As opposed to a mountain or another land?
If you dont add a forest then your are reducing the percentage of casting one of your T1 green spells.
If you dont add a forest or mountain you are also reducing the chance of the Game trail coming into play untapped.
looks really great, how about adding a Ever After for some ingredient.
Since AWM deck always tend to draw or throw away ulamog or big creature. Hitting a Ever After will summon a big creature back from the graveyard.
What do you all think?
Do we think this deck is viable in the new format?
I am not optimistic, that combo deck......
I think the G/B has a better chance because it can run Grasp and Fatal push. I think in that shell it would be more delirium than marvel having energy just for the demon
I think you might be right. I have gold fished this deck a little (about 30 times) and I have yet once been able to Marvel out an Ulamog. I know I wasn't playing against anyone but I guess that's my point. If I can't get it out playing against a ghost, How can it be a good deck choice? I am lost here and I really wish I had an idea of what I wanted to play.
Even a resolving Ulamog with a successful cast ability beyond Turn 5 can be very underwhelming. I ran into many situations where Ulamog gets countered, exiled, or sac'd by an effect. I rarely get a chance to keep Ulamog beyond a turn before it gets removed by Declaration in Stone/Stasis Snare or sac'd by Blessed Alliance. Ulamog is a powerful creature but there's too many answers. As much as I hate to admit it, I'm opting for a BG or Jund shell for Marvel without a huge emphasis on Ulamog. The Demon may be the next best thing like Red said. And like PJ I, I am little conflicted in which direction to go. Maybe its too early to tell and we will have better ideas after ProTour Aether Revolt in February.
So if Ulamog, is not the answer, what is? Does B/G version have any legs, or is this deck just dead?
I think this deck is a wrap unless someone else wants to unlock it. I am not seeing a way that G/R can beat the combo deck because there is so little interaction: only Harness Lightning Game one then Negate/rebuff game 2 and 3 but thats after they side in their on dispels or whatever.
I feel like trying to cheat Ulamog with marvel would take just as long with a dedicated ramp deck that played Traverse.
More over it might be better to go U/R Improvise Ramp, you get to play main deck Shock and Metallic Rebuke with trophy mage to find 1/2 Inspiring Statuary or Deadlock trap. being artifact themed that unlocks: Reverse Engineer, ....gotta go
At this point, I am looking at a Jund shell without delirium. Demon seems promising and maybe a Demon Marvel deck will make more sense in this new meta. After looking at other G/B deck list (thanks to Snipercandyman, dough54321, & WalkingJupiter), this is my early build. Should this still fall under Marvel or should a new primer be created as Red suggested? This deck can technically evolve out of Marvel and use Gonti's Aether Heart instead. I guess this answers my question.
Good luck trying to track down all of those cards by next week. But I do agree with you that Marvel would give us an additional way to get the combo out. I plan on running the BUG version of Marvel tonight at FNM. But I'm hoping we just draft considering no one has access to the new cards yet.
I have been testing out this build and main decking the trackers have been nice. I have the maps, wilds, and attunes to get a lot of clues into the battlefield along with just the normal land per turn. I like the statuary to help cast the ulamog and world breaker if I end up drawing them. The 12 artifacts and all of the clue tokens make both only costing 2 or 3 most of the time. I have a feeling that there will be a lot of token and aggro decks now after the bannings so i like the returns mained. I might go 3 returns and 3 lightnings if there is more token decks but for now with all the Saheeli combo decks expected, it will be better with the 4 lightnings. I usually kill off the small threats early and by the time the big threats hit the board I can hard cast a world breaker or ulamog. Energy isn't a problem when the marvel hits play with all the clues and maps hitting the yard. I'm not sure what I am going to do with the sideboard yet. Let me know what you guys think.
OK gentlemen. This week at SCGCOL there wasn't even 1 copy of a marvel deck in the top 64. Is this deck dead? I apologize. There was 1 marvel deck finishing at 64.

My feeling is that it is going to have to morph into a different deck with Marvel being used as an alternative wincon. The loss of Emmy really hurt the deck and while a turn 4 Ulamog is pretty backbreaking against most decks. The fact that control decks now have a way to stop the activation using Disallow; and that at the SCG Open; CopyKat based decks were between 40 and 45 percent of the meta; just meant that your best bet was to play something else.
I don't have any idea as to how I would put this together at the moment so that it would be able to attack the current meta; since it has to be able to disrupt the CopyKat decks and fight through their counter spells. It would also have to be able to survive and interact with the fast G/B Aggro decks and decks like G/W Tokens that go wide in a hurry.

I dont think thats a statuary deck, should have more artifacts, go blue for trophy mage and use Cultivator's Caravan.
fixed the deck tag situation
It's not suppose to be a statuary deck, that card is in there just just to help hard cast my big creatures when I draw them or get them bounced to my hand. It is a better alternative then having to put a lot of mana excel in the deck.
