Domri is 100x better then Rhythm. Fights and ramps and pumps....no contest.
It doesn't grant haste...
and it's only 2 of, roughly 10 creatures in that deck have riot. Like I get why it's not in the mainboard that's obvious and really steers away from the main point. Neither cards really don't do much against discard or wrath based decks but I digress and will drop the topic all together.
No it is a good point. I'm not sure if it is worth the lil extra SB value to take up a SB slot though.
Using 3x domri has worked for me but i have been testing with both cards interchangeably. Seems like they always have the mortify for the rhythm tho. My domri seems to last longer in that matchup than the rhythm did.
Personally, I'm a big fan of stranding Esper's stupid sideboard Hostage Takers when you have a Domri in play.
Rhythm of the Wild seems better than Domri, Anarch of Bolas against decks that are significantly slower than whatever "size" (more Aggro or more Midrange) of Gruul deck you are running - even when those decks aren't full-blown Control decks, but very slow Midrange decks (like Sultai Midrange) - this is because giving Haste (or double Riot on creatures with Riot) allows us to catch up in terms of Tempo and/or creature size quite quickly.
Domri, Anarch of Bolas is really great if you're planning to ramp into 5 drops, though, so if your Gruul deck is already planning to go very midrange-y.
can someone tell ol noob here why Thrash // Threat is good? Or has WOTS brought better alternatives?
Good is pushing the limit. It is a GG removal spell. That is the only real reason that it is used. New Domri, Anarch of Bolas is just better with more useful text
Thrash // Threat has been utilized because it's a removal spell/threat (like the name lol).
Both sides are very medium, with the removal spell being better than the threat.
It's a fundamentally weak card that we have played in the past to fill spots in the curve without being too narrow. I'm glad that I don't have to sleeve it up anymore. The meta might shift to a spot where it's a B- card again, rather than a C- but that may never occur.
I'm waiting for the top 1k Mythic players to drop. I was #378 in Bo3 before I hopped off the ladder for work two hours before the end of the season. Here's hoping I didn't get bumped.
I don't love the mana but Mobilized District is really good. This probably isn't the best Mobilized District deck but I figured I'd give you guys the heads up concerning the power level of this card.
Rhythm of the Wild is better than Domri, Anarch of Bolas as it gives a +1/+1 counter not +1/0 buff so it stays if Rhythm of the Wild is removed from the field. The counter works with proliferate and doesn't have to be triggered to make your creature spells uncounterable. It can't be attacked by creatures. It can give haste if you need that instead of a counter. It just gives you more options than Domri, Anarch of Bolas

Domri buffs ALL of your creatures, not only ones that come into play. Rhythm cant indirectly save you life by having creatures attack it. One is a fair draw after T5, the other is not.

I totally agree that Domri, Anarch of Bolas is way better than Rhythm of the Wild. It buffs all your creatures, ramp and as a removal. Rhythm is only good at turn 2 play and worse top deck. Domri on turn 3 is great too. Pair up with riot dudes and the deck is fast and big.
Turn 2 and 3 both Domri in, up both for Lava Coil or Zhur-Taa Goblin is my best so far. Hellkite seems like mediocre. Carnage Tyrant and Etali is a temporary slot. I feel like God-Eternal Rhonas could be better. Mixed feeling to slot in Ilharg, the Raze-Boar because I feel like it should be in a different kind of deck. Also, a bit too much on removals ? Maybe Sarkhan the Masterless in for Skarrgan Hellkite or -2 from Banefire or Collision // Colossus.

SB is still in flux. t2 Thought Erasure into t3 Mortify was making Pelt Collector aggro unplayble -- which is odd except for the fact that you'd often be stranded with 1/1 Pelt Collectors regularly. I've like Paradise Druid rather a lot -- especially since it can blank removal the turn it comes into play ala Gruul Spellbreaker.
I don't like Ripjaw Raptor except for against RDW. I'm not sure what I'd play in it's place. Radha and 4cmc Domri ain't it.
I don't lose many games where I resolve Bolt Bend. I've Bolt Bended quite a few Teferi tucks, Bolas downticks, Lava Coils -- just plain nasty. It's very good against midrange and tap out control where you have targets for their removal. Less so against Esper control.
Nvm on my last post. Trying to rock Mono Green splash red right now. I really do not think we should be siding that much against mono red. Esper is one of the harder match ups. Here is my current list.
Gang, first new set tournament played yesterday with Golgari Stompy, not here to talk about those colors but to encourage you to try God-Eternal Rhonas!!! I only played 1, want to try 2, but it won me quite a few games and the recursion is awesome.
I can only imagine how much better its would be in a deck with fliers!!!
Tibalt looks bad but is very good against a lot of the decks right now. Superfriends, Esper, UB, etc. He even makes idiots that block pretty well for 1/1s. The fact that he blocks lifegain from Contempt and Enter the God-Eternals is huge. He's also another body to carry Sarkhan animations -- maybe the strongest part of this deck.
Thorn Lieutenant is good because he's quite the tempo snag against decks rocking cheap removal. He's a bit slower than Zhur-Taa but that guy dies to a sneeze so...
Congrats! I have been trying Chainwhirler variants (with Llanowar Elves) and I haven't really decided which version works the best. I have also been impressed with Tibalt, but I have him in the sb.
Can you elaborate on the sideboard choices? Especially Ravager Wurm, Bolt Bend and the lack of Carnage Tyrant and Dire Fleet Daredevil. I've been trying small Vivien as well but she seems to fizzle often.
Do you side out the Llanowar Elves in any matchup?

Bolt Bend is a weird one. It's good in most midrange mirrors. The only times you want 2x copies is on the play against mono-red (it's great for their sandbagged lava coil) and on the play against midrange esper. Otherwise, I sideboard in one copy. I don't bring it in against control unless you think you'll get them. Sometimes I board it in vs. Superfriends but I'm not sold. In place of Bolt Bend, you could play Dire Fleet Daredevil. However, I think that card is awfully slow. Carnage Tyrant also fits this description against control. You need cheap impactful spells against Esper, not slow ones that get Thought Erasured on turn 4 or 5. Carny T is just a tad slow for my preferences.
Small Vivien is a good card but I don't like it with how light I am on creatures.
I used to board out all my mana dorks in prior lists against control. I now board out 4 mana dorks and leave two in. You still want a reasonable amount of mana sources for your GCG or Sarkhans.
Thanks for the info. I like that the deck has many configurations and is not yet established. I've been having too much fun with small Vivien and Daredevil casting Dovin's Vetos but ultimately I agree with your reasoning.
Had an Ilharg in play.
Played a Gruul Spellbreaker (Haste)
Played a Zhur-Taa Goblin.
Attacked with all of the above, putting a Skarrgan down with Ilharg.
Boom
Luckily they weren't playing Fog Spells. They conceded when I attacked.
Outside of the Elves thang, is anything glaringly wrong?
I'd consider more mana in the form of more lands in this deck since you're not running elves. At least 24. They can be in the form of Mobilized District, if you like.

Overall Domri, Anarch of Bolas is better than Rhythm of the Wild, the latter is an awful top deck, it has utility but most of that is corrected by the former.
