@JoninWherever: I think Scrounger is better vs control than Speedway, because of the reanimation. But if you are running mono, maybe Speedway would be alright. Hellion is likely better than Pia in that matchup too. I'm not sure on so many pumps, but you might consider Built to Smash instead, since the extra toughness is relevant if they try to use damage based removal. Only trouble is that you can only use it when attacking. Other than that. I don't think you are running even close to enough lands.
@Kapak44: BG Delerium is hard to give a single concrete plan since there seems to be a lot of versions of it. Mostly though, there is the aggro Copter type and then there is the bigger Emrakul Midrange type. I'd likely want Transgress for the Midrange lists, but not the Aggro lists. I think for both you want to bring in Lightning Axe to kill Kalitas and Ishkanah. I think possibly you want Chandra too, but she is less effective vs the Copter version understandably. Generally Bomat Courier would come out, due to it being so poor against Liliana. Depending on their version, you could take out a few flows as well. I probably wouldn't side in Kalitas for either version, but certainly not the bigger Midrange version.
Kalitas is for the aggro matchups and against the Haunted Dead/Prized Amalgam decks. Generally, if you are bringing in stuff like Bombardment, you'll want to have Kalitas as well.
Some modifications. In the main I cut Fleetwheel Cruiser and went with a full set of Forerunner. The sideboard is a complete rework to try out some of the other cards that decks have played.
Round 1: Abzan Aggro 2-1
I'm guessing somewhat similar to the Top8 lists in the recent SCG classic. First game they just couldn't keep up with the aggression backed up by Burn. Second game, I think I sideaboarded incorrectly. I tried the control plan on the draw, but Westvale Abbey proved to be a serious issue to that game plan. Game 3 I was on the play and resided into an aggressive deck and again was able to apply too much pressure too quickly.
Round 2: Grixis Control 2-0
Basically the Shota PT decklist. This is where Forerunners really shined, because the extra pressure from haste was big. I managed to take the first game by T6 before he was able to turn the corner with Gearhulk. Game 2, I sided in Transgress over Flow, which helped to keep him off Radiant Flames and Gearhulks. One of my Bomat Couriers drew me 5 cards, as he was constantly busy with bigger threats. That sealed the deal.
Round 3: GR Pummeler Energy 2-0
Rematch from gameday, as this was the guy and deck that I lost to due to some mana stumbles and a bad keep. I think that match also helped me a bit to figure out the matchup. Game 1 I was on the play and had a really good start, and he wasn't able to get his stuff going quick enough. Game 2 I sided into control, but he had one if those hands light on threats and heavy on pumps. A T4 Chandra on an empty board gave me a clock, and eventually won the game for me after ultimate.
Round 4: 4-Color Aggro 2-0
A brew that I guess was somewhat similar to the GP deck that got some feature matches. Both games he sort of flooded out. First game he drew mostly nothing relevant and aggro got there. I switched to control and ended up Transgressing him 3 times, taking all his real threats. He did draw into a Verdant Gearhulk and nearly got there with it and his manland, but a Disintegration off the top for me sealed the deal.
Were there any moments that you missed having Fleetwheel?
Nope. I had been siding out Fleetwheel quite often, hence why I tried cutting it.
Forerunner:
Puts a bit more pressure on control as an earlier haste threat
Gets in under counter magic, though dies to the same removal
Hastes Scroungers and extra Copters cast afterwards
Pilots early Copters since it is only a 2-drop
Dumps from hand quickly to take advantage of Bomat Courier
Chumps blocks if needed to give us extra time
I thought about whether my Forerunners would have been better as Fleetwheels when I had them in hand. Only time I ever had an issue with Forerunner was when I started a hand with a couple of them and only Aether Hub as my Black source.
I ended up going off the beaten path and tried full on hand control with the aggro. Lost Legacy made a few people want to flip tables on me during some games since so many decks at the last FNM I was playing were using Panharmonicon and Aetherworks Marvel. Also basically neutered a delirium deck multiple times by naming Emrakul, the promised end and Sylvan Advocate. Amazing how bad those decks are when suddenly your best wall and win condition just got snagged away forever...
Not that I recommend everyone suddenly packs Lost Legacy. It's really a strictly worse Transgress the mind since you basically have to know what you are playing against for it to work, but when it does it's amazing.
Unfortunately... It doesn't work very well when the deck is RW vehicles or the mirror. Contrary to popular belief, our deck CAN survive without looter scooter. Gideon, Ally of Zendikar did his best hulk smash impression on my face and surprisingly, I did get nuked by a Combustible Gearhulk. Did not see that coming in a RW vehicles. Basically, the game came down to I was at 7, he was at 6, the game was running long, he had a chandra and I had a chandra, he casts T5 gearhulk, I think let him draw the cards because he's going to probably do enough with it to kill me instantly, and it turns out he drew into a Weaver of Lightning, mountain, and Galvanic bombardment. This would not have been so bad if he hadn't already got three bombardments in the yard. If he didn't have the bombardment I'd have been fine since I had two copters and pilots out.
1. (Ravnica Allegiance): You can't keep a good esper control deck down... Or Wilderness Reclamation... or Gates...
2. (War of the Spark): Guys, I know what we need! We need a cycle of really idiotic flavor text victory cards! Jace's Triumph...
3. (War of the Spark): Lets make the format with control have even more control!
Lost Legacy is effective for anything that is a win-condition for one's opponent or a lose-condition for oneself. I'd consider it against decks that run multiple copies of any board-sweeper, for instance.
It is always card-disadvantage but it can still be worthwhile.
Spending 3 mana doing nothing to effect the board and only marginally effecting the draws of your opponent is not a good game plan for an aggro deck. It works vs Marvel since that deck is essentially a combo deck with no real other way to win.
So we got a Top8 at GP Warsaw! I won't have time to wait for the decklist to be posted, but there was also a GPT winner.
-Key is in the side and Fleetwheel is nowhere to be found
-FOUR mainded Bloodhall, more than I think we've seen top so far (correct me if I'm wrong)
-Three mained Lightning Axes
-4 Marsh > 4 Aether, and 5 swamps instead of 3-4
It's a pretty cool build. I think what Andrea was trying to do was maindeck the answers to U/W Flash and B/G Delirium in the form of Bloodhall and Lightning Axe. Bloodhall helps to kill the smaller U/W Creatures and Lightning Axe helps to take down Kalitas, Traitor of Ghet and Sylvan Advocate, threats who could, at least in g1, only be one-shot killed by Unlicensed.
Both cards help to stop the decks that Andrea was afraid of, while also being generally useful against a large majority of decks, with more specific hate cards like Weaver staying in the side deck.
The only thing that I don't fully understand is who exactly Key to the City is being sided in against. Token decks?
So, yet another one of my random moments of madness, and here's a thought to be shot down. What about running some of the OGW lands (like Unknown Shores)? That would give red or black sources, but would also give colorless, at which point running Reality Smasher, TKS or Mirrorpool becomes an option (curve up through Apprentice, Copter, Pia, Cruiser, Smasher, copied Cruiser?)
I think if you're going to run Thought Knot and Smasher your talking a different deck at that point. The RB list is pretty tight for space as it is, since you need a critical mass of artifacts for Apprentice and Disintegration. Checkout the Mono B Eldrazi Aggro thread link in my sig. A lot of people trying the Red splash.
Yeah, I guess TKS and Smasher really do put the squeeze on. Just trying to think of ways around the crap ton of control I have around me. Mirror pool was the thing that drove the original thought though.
Anyway, that mono-red creature heavy list looks like it could be a good one to punch through control, by simply landing more threats than they can counter. May slip some to-the-face burn in over the Axes and take it for a spin...
You don't want to be slower vs Control. You want to be faster. Have a look at the last list of those Top32. It's basically Mono Red. Bushwhacker would be my first port of call to improve your control matchup.
5 lists in the Top64 of GP Santiago. In fact, Carvalho got narrowly beat on tie breakers for the last slots for Top8 (one of 6 players on 36points or 12-3, only 3 made cut).
On a good note for our deck, it appears to have had a resurgence in the meta. While we did not have a very big portion of the day 2 meta for either GP, we had comparatively a lot of pilots that put up good records. Furthermore, we had a Top8 in one of the GPs and a near miss (10th) in the other.
The big decks were UW, BG, and Vehicles. It would appear the deck holds its own in that meta. Vehicles, specifically RW did badly. GB did very well. And UW seemed to underperform despite a win. I expect GB to grow in popularity and UW to lose its best deck aura. I don't know which matchup is harder, but my inclination is UW, so this could be a good thing for RB.

What are some ideas for playing against G/B? I noticed more main decked lava axes...anything else?
I don't know how much Lighting Axe does for us. Killing Ishkanah isn't that great since there's still a wall of spiders. The real threat is Kalitas that shuts off our burnout path. Maybe it's time for mainboard Chandra similar to Carvalho's list. Magmatic Chasm out of the board also seems like big game against a deck looking to stabilise by gumming up the board. Key main also feels like a better call. It's possible these decks cutting it were tuning against RWx.
Has anyone tried Cryptbreaker in the deck? It's a little slower than the other one drops of the deck, but it still seems like a potentially solid fit in a more madness focused built (with Bloodhall Priests) and can do a good job demanding an answer as a one drop because of how insane it can be if they don't, especially in a game that goes a bit longer.
I've been having a lot of fun with the Ganz list. All out aggro in game one is always fun and the switch over to a more controlling stance post-sideboard is interesting. I have been having a little bit of trouble with a few decks though.
Is there a plan for the Aetherflux Reservoir lifegain deck? AFAICT we can't really interact with the combo and it's hard to get them on the straight damage plan.
Similarly, what do you guys do against U/B control? I've found they can remove all of my guys while also getting a planeswalker or Kalitas on the board.
BTW, a little combo that I didn't notice until I saw it in play: if you trigger Bomat Courier while the Bloodhall Priest is in your hand then your madness cast happens while your hand is still empty. Every little point of damage matters, right?
That matchup can be coin flippy based on who goes first. I think the plan is similar to R/x Aggro matchups in that you want to side into control on the draw. Timing when you go for removal is key. Sometimes that means on your turn when they are tapped out so they cannot Blossoming Defence. Sometimes you won't have an opportunity or they have a couple of game ending threats so waiting for when they go for it and blow them out with Disintegration is the way to go. I like siding in Transgress on the draw to try to snag Hydra, as that is the hardest one to deal with once it is on board. On the play I think you want to race. They tend to be a little slower than us. I'd likely not bring in Transgress at this point since we just want to finish the game ASAP.
Transgress for both Marvel and UB is what you want. For the former, wait on Transgress until the turn before they can cast it.
Not Marvel, Reservoir. The lifegain deck. They run Thraben Inspector -> Reflector Mage -> Cloudblazer with a bunch of bounce and flicker effects, capping out with Torrential Gearhulk and using the Reservoir to finish you off. I found it hard to keep up with their lifegain.
Ahh, read Aetherflux and brain skipped over Res/lifegain bit. I've only played an early version of the deck. However, answer is the same for different reasons. Seems like hitting Res, Cloudchaser, or Gearhulk is the big game there.
There are a several options. The first four listed below are played in most successful deck lists.
Trangress the Mind - One of the more versatile sideboard cards. Good against control, Marvel, and bigger midrange decks.
Galvanic Bombardment - Good against other aggressive decks like RWx.
Chandra, Torch of Defiance - Good against control. Varies against certain midrange. Can come in if you side into control vs aggro. Versatile enough that it is mainboardable.
Kalitas, Traitor of Ghett - Comes in against aggro for the lifelinke. The exiling effect is also good against dredge/zombies.
Lighting Axe - Decent removal if you need extra ways to kill large threats.
Reckless Bushwhacker - Generally would come in against a control deck playing sweepers
Magmatic Chasm - Can be effective against BG midrange decks looking to lock up the ground.
To the Slaughter - Can be a blow out against RG Pummeler under the right circumstances. Sometimes hard to setup though.
Collective Defiance - Good against UR spells style decks as well as spell heavy control.
Call of the Bloodline - Interesting end game engine vs Grixis and UR spells, who likely cannot remove it.
Weaver of Lightning - Good against RWx and Spirits.
When do you bring Kalitas? What matchup s?
