Hi, I'm the proud owner of the complete set of 2019 challenger decks. I have been wondering if there were any obvious upgrades I could make using the new war of the spark set. I haven't found any articles online regarding this, and if you have any suggestions I would be grateful for them. Thanks.
My favorite is probably the Izzet deck, but I feel like I have it pretty well tuned in and don't need to make any changes. After that, white weenie is a lot of fun, thinking of buying a second one to make it optimal. I'm least satisfied with the golgari and red decks and feel like they need the most work.
No need to buy the 2nd WW deck. The cards dropped in price so much, you can finish it for like $6 more prolly.
The red one has a few bad cards in it.
-2x lava coil (move to sb)
-1x bane fire (move to sb)
-2 mountains
+1 experimental frenzy
+4 light up the stage
Then you literally have the top deck atm. so for $5 you can run a tier 1 deck.
Izzet is absolutely smoked by esper...that is why it doesn't do well atm. If you are just playing casual table top games, then it is really good.
+2x history of benalia ($2)
+2x legion's landing ($2)
+4 law-rune enforcer
+4 venerated loxodon
-4 ajani's pridemate
-4 healer hawk
-3 pride of conquerors
-1 hunted witness
and you can fit Gideon into the mix too.
+3x gideon
-2x adanto vanguard
-1 law-rune enforcer
The golgari is the hardest to tune atm. The deck had fallen off before they printed them. The explore package is good. Could also add path of discovery and bolas's citadel for a pretty good combo
district guide is bad, seeker's squire isn't great and you need vraska's contempt in thee somewhere.
If you want specific reasons to why these changes are, feel free to ask. I currently run RDW (the red deck) in standard and it does good VS every single matchup. WW is also very very solid still. Even moreso now with gideon and unbreakable formation. I used to play izzet drakes before Esper fixed itself up against red and sultai.
Haven't played golgari for almost a year now, but that doesn't mean it isn't feasible. Pretty much on the same level as izzet.
I have the Izzet one.
Saheeli, Sublime Artificer has a spot in it. Having a token clone Crackling Drake is fun.

I just bought 27 of them off of Tcgplayer for 0.15 each. Was a mistake but *shrug* i still got em.
Card kingdom has em for $2 each though. Your LGS can pound salt. lol
