Still hasn't played standard again, but my son borrowed the deck to play it himself and didn't fare that well. He lost twice against monoblack control. According to him monoblack control was a hard matchup, althought in theory it shouldn't be that hard. It might have to do with him piloting the deck for the first time, but I'd like to know your thoughts on it as to get prepeared for the next time I play.
On another note, I've beeb really happy with nimble obstructionist. I got to counter quite a bit of dramatic stuff in this deck (Pharaoh gift trigger, cast out trigger, Teferi's -3, Scarab's god return clause) but while pkaying around in Arena got to explore lots of stuff that could get countered by it. I got to counter ulti s from sagas, Vona's activated ability, Tetzimot's ETB and even evolving wilds, amongst other things. So I'm thinking of dropping the Dreamcallers for some more obstructionists. At worst, it's a 3/1 flyer that can come out of nowhere. I really like it a lot.
I might experiment with a couple of odd cards I've been liking for SB sitations, like Vizier of many faces (Great for copying lyras, Gofted aetjerborns, chupacabras and Glorybringers,, while at worst being an extra copy of my flyers) and Entrancing Melody which in theory looks quite bad but been working very well in Arena games.
Me and my friend both went to GP pittsburg and played this deck. my friend day 2ed and had a peak record of 9 wins 3 loss but he dropped the next 3 rounds and started out the tourney with a 6 and 1 record. His twitter and list can be found here https://twitter.com/ashgrabbr
Good work! Losing all the bonus damage cards seems like it would slow the deck down a bit, but I can't argue with results. How did he feel about the Merfolk Trickster performance?
Merfolk trickster is one of the best cards in the deck. We arent a rush aggro deck, its more of a slower tempo style protect your guys sort of deck. I didnt make the day 2 cut sadly, I ended up going 5 and 3, loosing to mono red once, and blue white control twice.
This version goes a lot more heavily on the permission plan. The evasion sub-theme is very toned down in comparison. As always, an unchecked Curious Obsession is probably the best start.
I've been playing the Crane of Thrones version to modest success recently. It definitely earns some bonus points in my heart from how salty people get when they lose to it. We benefit a lot from Turbo-Fog slowing down the format IMO.
One thing I have noticed lately is that Goblin Chainwhirler has made Walking Ballista worse. There's hardly an X/1 to be found in standard right now.
Mono Blue “Tempest Djinn Tempo” hasn’t really lost or gained anything from rotation. Do you think this deck will have a place in Guilds standard?
Don't know that it isn't stronger splashing red or black for the benefits provided. I think there might be a stronger deck than this, in those colors, that just drops the Djinn because it can be tough to cast.
I think Mono blue can hold it's own, but only time will tell.

Just finished the Weekly wins and had only 1 loss. I played only those casual games without sideboard, but it looked good and only costs 4 rares.
Its a good budget option to start there.
Mist-Cloaked Herald replaced Slither Blade
Surge Mare replaced Baral
2xBlink of an eye and 1x Exclusion Mage (i have 3 now) replaced unsummon
2x Negates replaced Commit//Memory
2x Chart a Course replaced Aethersphere Harvester (had nothing in that place, so i decided to lower the curve and include some draw spells)
1 less Island, first games i was flooding. Most one land hands i am keeping.
