So there has been a little bit of discussion about Sunbird's Invocation and how it's fairly bad as it's 6cmc and you have to take off a turn in order to get value from it.
Does this synergy hold value to be competitive? What would be the best case card to cast off Sunbird trigger? Cant we win on turn 5 using this strategy?
May be able to get it to turn 4 with Prying Blade or Ornithopter shenanagins!
Let's brew some ideas!
Most of the focus on Sunbird's Invocation has been with Approach of the Second Sun. If you cast approach and there is another approach in your top 7 you would win the game (assuming no counterspells).
Metalwork Collosus is interesting. You could use Heart-piercer Manticore or Fling to try and turn him into a free 10 damage burn spell.

My initial thought was to use Manticore or Fling, but the Sunbird's trigger happens before Metalwork hits the field, so there would be no target for those cards. However I was thinking of maybe a way to give him haste + double strike? Samut, the tested, or Samut, voice of dissent. Maybe the big 7/6 Dino?
Your mana is off. How do you cast both Cultivator's Caravan and Inspiring Statuary on turn 3 with 3 mana? Seems like a turn 5 combo at best, unless maybe you dropped 2 one drops on t2 (giving you one more artifact for a turn 4 Sunbird's Invocation cast; you could do t1 artifact, t2 2 artifacts, t3 caravan or statuary, t4 drop the other and tap all 5 artifacts plus your single remaining mana to drop Sunbird's Invocation). Even still, that is only 9 CMC of artifacts, still no Metalwork Colossus until turn 5. Sounds very slow; Metalwork Colossus was a serviceable deck when you could cast multiples on turn 4, but it never broke into tier. This sounds worse, sadly.

Yea I noticed that after I wrote it and not seeing Inspiring Statuary is only for nonartifacts spells. However it can still be done using 1 ornithopter to get a turn 4 sunbird, but I'm not sure how ornithopter will help the gameplan. Either way, can still be done turn 4, better game plan of a turn 5.
That wouldnt work.
Colossus wouldnt be in the field until after invocation resolves
That's true. My idea wouldn't work. Spell Swindle your own Metalwork Colossus? It's not really competitive, but it seems fun.
This could work if you can cast Marionette Master from your hand. Spell Swindle the Metalwork Colossus, get 11 Treasures. Sac 6 treasures to cast Marionette Master, then sac the remaining 5 treasure for lethal, or use use the colossus in the grave to sac your artifacts and keep the treasures back for something else.

I have found you can easily ramp to Sunbird's Invocation by turn 5, and cast Metalwork Colossus that same turn and dig 11 cards deep. An example of that would be: t1 - land + renegade map, t2 - land + prophetic prism or treasure map, t3 - land + Cultivator's Caravan OR inspiring statuary, T4 - Land + Something to help our game, T5 - Land + Sunbird's Invocation + Metalwork Colossus(search 11 deep for something cast).

Which shouldn't be hard in red
