Hello, I've tested this deck at xmage and seems consistent but I loose to tier 1 decks and sometimes tier 2 decks. What you guys think? the idea is to cast Trials and then return them to hand. My creature cards put more than one creature in play so I normally don't have much problem casting the cartouches. Here is the deck:
I think I would go with Jund colors, the red cartouche is a single mana, grants haste, +1/+1 and makes a creature unable to block that turn. It gives you access to the red trial as well, which is a creature lightning bolt for 3. I would also play the green two drop chaneller for mana fixing. White offers very little here (yes Gideon is good), but you aren't playing the powerful white removal spells (like Cast Out) to deal with Cat Combo, or the new Manglehorn to deal with Vehicles. Red also gives you access to magma spray which hoses Scrounger in the Mardu matchup. Just my opinion.
You are right about Red, the Trial is very good and it has efficient instant speed removal but I like the white cartouche, Felidar Guardian (witch can target cartouches, trials and Plainwalkers), Gideon and the white God is also very good with a lifelink and/or trample cartouche. I also like the white removal, at least in sideboard (Anguished Unmaking and as you mentioned Cast Out).
I will try Jund but I think I will have to change the strategy to make it work, make it more aggressive, I'm not sure how.
Well as of posting this message to day I regret and am heppy to inform you that Felidar Guardian is banned.
hear is a deck that I cam up with on my form.
It might give you some inspiration. Also Rhonas the Indomitable could replace felidar you might also like the Liliana, the Last Hope as a one of as a secondary win condition since you have so much removal. plus what your lacking is card draw try to add in three sources of card draw and I bet this deck will really sing. If all ells fails add in more removal and go for control in your side-bored.
