Nahiri, the Harbinger might be worth more slots as it deals with the influx of enchantments. Dovin Baan is cute but could be a solid card to fight agro, draw a card to find more action and gain life to not die.
Things to remember Commit can be targeted by Torrential Gearhulk and Memory be cast. This lets us cast a draw 7 EoT on the opponents turn. Depending on how I like the interaction I might try to main deck this.
I like the idea but I think Sweltering Suns should be a 2-of mainboard because the deck seems a little soft to aggro without any sweepers. Also perhaps add a singleton Chandra, Flamecaller? She's one of the best planewalkers to close out a game, especially if you're taking a couple turns in a row via Glorious End.

I was debating the Suns...I'm not sure with oath and harness and scatter I hope to stave off early aggression. Gideon can lock down a single target while Chandra and fire down most creatures. Jace can bounce a threat that I can counter...will def. playtest.
Chandra might be the right call maybe 1 dovin 1 flamecaller?

Is this true? I vaguely remember reading about a recent rules change to split cards that doesn't make this true anymore.

Yes that is true. The rule change mostly has to do with how split cards CMC is treated. For example, you can no longer use Kari Zev's Expertise to cast the Call half of Beck // Call for free.
While not on the stack, the characteristics of a split card are the combination of its two halves. For example, Destined /// Lead is a green and black card, it is both an instant card and a sorcery card, and its converted mana cost is 6. This means that if an effect allows you to cast a card with converted mana cost 2 from your hand, you can't cast Destined. This is a change from the previous rules for split cards.
