Got this deck idea while working on a few other decks that are UR and BUR. This an UR Midrange deck that splashs W for Thraben Inspector and Fragmentize, the reasons for which are explained below:
So the idea is to play small Human Wizards that get bigger once Docent of Perfection flips into Final Iteration and swing for massive amounts of damage with big flyers. There is a counter/burn suite designed to keep the path clear for our creatures to strike or stall our opponent's board if need be.
Thraben Inspector: I splashed W in the deck specifically because she is the only Turn 1 card in all of Standard that BOTH generates a clue token and leaves behind a body for offense/defense. That clue token is important when you follow up your Turn 2 play with Daring Sleuth.
Daring Sleuth/Bearer of Overwhelming Truths: Is a great card and and good Turn 2 play, provided you can flip it from Sleuth to Bearer by Turn 3. This is why the clue token made from Thraben Inspector is so important. Turn 3, you crack the clue token before combat flipping him into Bearer and hit for 3 dmg. Heck, if you have a Shock in your hand you can even shock your opponent for 2 dmg triggering Bearer's Prowess and hit with him for 4 dmg instead. That's 6 dmg total.
Docent of Perfection/Final Iteration: Our big finisher! This is type of card you pray doesn't get countered/killed the turn you plop him down. It's best to play this card Turn 6 or 7 instead when you have a counter spell in hand you can play in conjunction with it to protect it. I've been debating on whether there should be three copies instead of two because it dies to a great many types of removal. BUT, it's not Legendary, so if we manage to get multiple copies onto the battlefield, their static pump abilities stack.
Baral, Chief of Compliance: The other big centerpiece of the deck. I built the deck specifically with him in mind! Iteration turns him from a measly 1/3 into 3/4 flying beater. His abilities are self explanatory, and because the deck doesn't play as much card draw as other UR decks, he helps filter as well.
I built the sideboard with more counter in mind, with a little bit of board wipe and vehicle removal via Fragmentize.
