Unfortunately looks like the variant of the deck at the Pro Tour got crushed. Was excited to wakeup and see Carvalho in the top 8 but I guess he was one of the Dex players who was not on Improvise.
Inventor's Goggles with Weaponcraft Enthusiast and Bastion Inventor in the main board. The sweet thing about Willy's build is the Bastion has hexproof. So playing the goggles to make him bigger is fun. I dont splash red so I just played Murder instead of Licensed Disintegration and Weaponcraft Enthusiast instead of the motorist and pia. Mana is smoother for me. Metallic Rebuke is cool, but unless you are playing the O cmc build it's not that great. The no copies of Tezzeret seems legit, he doesnt do enough for what the deck is trying to do.
I've been messing with this deck myself, having great success running the "humans" package of Dhund Operative and Marionette Master and the Bastion hexproof 4/4 coupled with the Mimics, wrapped in a control shell. I'm pretty new to the forums, I'd post a decklist if I knew how.

If you want to learn how to post a decklist, the best advice I can give you is quote someone who posted a decklist, then look at the details in that quote.
If that doesn't work for some reason, when you post their should be a list of things like Bold, Italics, Underlined, bullets, numbers, ect. and on the far right you will see the backs of magic cards. Click the one that has 4 or 5 back faces of magic cards and one front. You can then edit it.
New list after going 2-1-1 last FNM.
Round 1, 1-1-1 tied to G/W mid-rangey with Planeswalkers and other green white "good stuff", including heart of kiran. I really like this matchup, with 6 ways to kill Heart of Kiran mainboard in 3x fatal push and 3x unlicensed disintegration.
Round 2, 2-0 I beat a worse Improvise list. It was very similar to my original list, not going Grixis. Weak pilot and weaker deck was an easy 2-0. She did run treasure keeper, which may or may not be a card worth running.
Round 3, 1-2 I lost to G/B tokens. Constrictor into Rishkar into Gearhulk or Woodland Wanderer was just too much for me. I had a ridiculous game 2 where I went turn 4 Herald of Anguish, turn 5 Herald of Anguish, Turn 6 Herald of Anguish. He dodges Grasp/Push which seems great, and Murder isn't played as often.
Round 4, 2-1, I beat G/B Energy/Aggro. Fun match. Nothing to see here.
All in all, the deck struggles again "big creatures". I am making the following tweaks.
Took this to my last FNM, went 3-0-1 but that's not really an indication of anything as most guys were just trying new piles of randomness. This is by no means a tuned list, it's missing Herald of Anguish because I don't own any yet. I was trying a lot of stuff to see how it performed, so the numbers are random, and there are several cards that do pretty much the same thing in small amounts.
Round 1 - Saheeli Combo W 2-1
Round 2 - Turbo Fog W 2-0
Round 3 - Mardu Vehicles 2-1
Round 4 - Mardu Vehicles ID 0-0-1
The Rebukes are great early, but pretty lukewarm late game, although using one on them one early changes their math when you can consistently bluff a one mana Mana Leak. I'm not sold on the card yet, but I'm not ready to completely ditch it.
I have been moving Ornithopter in and out of the list, it feels a "win more" card, but is a good target for Touch, adds some flying blocking early, and accelerates the deathtouch of the Dhund Operative.
I love the Marrionette Master, but it will be Heralds when they arrive. I wish the artifact didn't have to hit the graveyard to trigger the ability. lol
I was testing Dockhand, That slot was Metallic Mimics first, which was pretty good with the Humans theme I had going, but wasn't overwhelming. I tried the dockhand as and EOT draw/filter engine. It is slow, but offers a turn 1 artifact, into turn 2 Dhund Operative. I'm not sure if Dockhand will continue to make an appearance in my list.
As for the Operative, it has been early game MVP, it messes up combat math early and is basically a two mana removal spell. I'm not trying to race out artifacts or go agro early. Rather I'm attempting to build board position and stabilize before landing Tezz. I'm still unsure which version this deck should eventually take. I'm not sold on the 0cmc improvise version, and I like the red black versions I see popping up but like this one, it feels like it's missing something.
For those wondering, I often play mix matched lists, odd ball cards, and random synergies at FNM to find a niche that works well. The ultimate goal obviously being to take a tuned and fully prepared deck to GP's, PPTQ's, etc. I work backwards so to speak, I start outside the box, I rule cards out by testing them extensively against the field and narrow my card choice pool that way. As opposed to starting with the cards I think are best, finding they underperform, and then searching for something to fill that spot. If that make sense.

Interesting seeing Willy Edel's version;

I am getting killed on Magic Online with it. Lost a few bucks on Herald's of Anguish overnight.

Dockhand is too slow. On Turn 2, you need to be playing an artifact (ideally). I would test out Dhund Operative.
@w03havoc; I would recommend enchanting an artifact that can get you value with tezzeret's touch. prophetic Prism, Metalspinner's Puzzleknot, or servo schematic. Sacrificing Metalspinner's Puzzleknot in response to removal is great, plus you get it back in your hand. Same goes for Servo Schematic (getting an extra 1/1 servo and it goes into your hand).
