Champion of Wits looks SUPER underwhelming. I think they'd be much better off with 4 more 2 mana draw/sift spells instead.
It doesn't look too great, I agree. However it is a 3 mana creature that can loot you into Fiend, as well as having the correct CMC to Emerge Fiend out the next turn

There's a reason you should play test a card instead of just looking and reading it. Champion of wits is SUPER goood in any graveyard based deck. It's a tormenting voice on a stick and in late game it's pure gas.
I actually recently saw it featured in Gerry Thompsons Temurge video over on SCG. It was actually pretty good in that deck, so it inspired me to check it out. It's not what I want to be doing on turn 3, and it's definitely not what I want to be doing for 3 mana at sorcery speed.
I can't speak for everyone else who plays the list, but the way I want the deck to operate when I'm playing is turn 2 dump a zombie, turn 3 revive a zombie. Not only does this set that plan back by a turn, it takes the place of a 2 cmc spell making it even more unlikely for that plan to fire off.
In the late game, I was equally unimpressed. I'd much rather have Take Inventory than champion. In the late game, not only does Take Inventory net me 2 or 3 cards, it leaves me mana open to revive a zombie and bring back some Prized Amalgams with it. In many cases, there's still mana left over to protect/interact.
That was just from my play style. Others may have a different experience. Overall, it was SUPER underwhelming to me.
Ronnie328, would you mind posting your current decklist? I've been following this deck for a few months and it's always interesting to see how your take diverges.
I haven't been playing much the last few weeks, summer, family and vacations and all. The only hour of devastation card I've added is Strategic Planning. I haven't done any play testing, and I haven't updated my sideboard (which I'll likely replace Release the Gremlins with Abrade), so I'll just post the main. It's not too different than what I've been playing.
It's funny that you mention Hazoret. I playtest this deck last night and it actually did great against RDW (PV's list) and the best card in this deck to counter hazoret is actually fevered visions. RDW just can't dump their hand fast enough to get Hazoret online and by the time they are able I usually can lock her down by chaining EDF.

The sideboard mostly only has more control. Typically, my game against control decks seems pretty strong, so I sideboard heavier against aggro.
What do you guys think of insult // injury in this deck?
