Hello again fellow deck builders of MTGSalvation. Today I bring you a much improved, streamlined GW Legends deck list.
The key component that makes this deck tick are the Thalia's Lancers. A 4/4 first striking body for 5 is already decent in a GW midrange build, which this deck most likely fits under, while also acting the part of a one-time Captain Sisay (who is also my commander for EDH format). Standard currently has a powerful suite of Legends in White and Green, while others are just "decent". Oviya isn't the absolute best but I'll be play-testing with her in mainboard. The most powerful combination of legendaries to search for are the ill-fated Gisela and Bruna, to meld into Brisela. If you manage to get the Angel Eldrazi onto the battlefield, your opponent is going to be in for a bad time. Other Legends offer utility and evasion to the deck's repertoire - Thalia works well against aggro and Sigarda protects the handful of Humans *and* you from targeted effects and alongside Odric becomes far fiercer in combat.
I think Legend deck is losing its position.
If everythong goes well, we can cast Thalia's Lancers at Trun 5, but we can only cast the strong creatures at T6.
Then? Which creature can end the game at T6? I think Emrakul, the Promised End might be the only one, which is difficult to be casted by a GW deck.
If we can't win the game at T6, we're leaving too much time for control like Jeskai, or Aetherworks Marvel
It may have lost its position, but I have collected the cards for this list, minus 4 DiS and Sideboard, and have fun with it. I haven't had a chance recently to make it to a Standard FNM tourney due to this being a WIP.
I've managed to cast Thalia's Lancers on turn 4 consistently and Brisela *can* happen. I admit I need to streamline this and resolve to address the Tier 1 decks, but that will come in time.
I need to update the OP to reflect the decklist I currently have stashed away in a deckbox...that hasn't seen FNM play for a long while, but I would like to bump this in order to get some advice and suggestions, especially with AER on the horizon. Any feedback and critique, outside of "you should play X tier 1 list", is appreciated.
Updated OP. Need to work on SB, absolutely, and would love some feedback as to how I should streamline this deck.
Please advise! Any and all help and constructive criticism would be appreciated!
Well, speaking of Rishkar, Peema Renegade and Eldritch Evolution: I have 1 copy of Rishkar and 3 of Eldritch Evo now. Got to draft triple AER last night and opened Rishkar, Sram and an Oath of Ajani; even got 5th place out of the 18 people that drafted.
I still need to streamline this deck, though. >.>;
Seeing the Pro Tour lists and thinking about my meta and the budget I have when compared to others I play against at FNM, alongside a friend saying he doesn't want to get into standard (despite loving the Grixis or just UB control/improvise decklist), have all made me reconsider my deck a bit more harshly.
I don't have the budget to jam Gideon or Avacyn into the list I do have together; and I don't know if my curve or creature/non-creature ratio are good enough, let alone my removal. My actual chances against the tier 1 or 2 lists feel lower and lower as they're streamlined by competition, while my list is basically "rogue" now, despite having roots in the formerly played Naya Legends and...I haven't gotten to play standard since 2-3 weeks into KLD release.
I'd really appreciate any feedback or recommendations. I don't want to feel so bad about standard, let alone my options when deckbuilding on what little budget I do have, but I am - and hearing commentaries and critiques may just help me streamline this into something at presentable and competitive/fun enough for FNM.
As for potential directions I could take...I don't know if a budget WB angel-control deck would be a good direction to head or a BG +1/+1 counter list, especially on a budget. I know I play pretty well with GW midrange, but I don't know if the list I have - if any list at all - would be viable.
If any decklist that's at least passable at FNM level, with tier 1 and 2 lists in the meta 100% of the time, would be a decent direction I could take from the cards I do have - whether it be WB angels or BG counters or something else - please let me know.
Given the 2.5 deck meta of standard, which my LGSs reflect consistently, and a lack of advise otherwise - I've decided to sell almost all non-Captain Sisay relevant BFZ and SOI block cards that once made up this deck.
I have little interest in Standard where they ban 3 cards and think it helps diversify the format, when instead we've probably seen even more of a 2 deck standard than before. Quite frankly, I think WOTC should have banned something this past week, but they're not me and I'm not them...so the best thing I can do for myself is to not even bother with Standard until post-rotation.
I happen to play something kind of similiar. It has differences, as my list has more removal and blue splash for Tamiyo (easy to cut tho). I'm not focused on legends so much, as I use Traverse as main tutor. Delirium sub-theme lets me play Ishkanah, which in a lot of matchups is just great.
I went 3-1 at FNM, going against 2x mardu vehicles, GR energy and GB energy. I also tested vs 4 color saheeli, and you just need your authority in this matchup or it's a nightmare. Mardu matchup feels doable though; cant probably win game 1s, but post board it's fine. And stealing game with Linvala or Gisela is not out of the window.
Come now, it's a Legends deck, you're worried about Saheeli combo? Then run 3x Thalia main! Thalia, Heretic Cathar will block everything the main two decks present on the ground, and stops the combo. It's still not enough but it's a good start.

I appreciate the suggestions, but I'm really not interested in Standard right now. The 2.5 deck meta and the fact I haven't gone to a Standard FNM in ages...Yeah.

Most often you'll have a combination of Sylvan Advocates, Tireless Trackers, and Duskwatch Recruiters forming an early defensive assault, followed closely by heavy-hitting legends on land and in air.
Removal is reliant mostly on exile-effects from Stasis Snare and DiS, but the main focus is on having better creatures than your opponents.
The most likely cuts I would make are to the 4-of Deathcap Cultivators and Collective Effort.
Creatures
1 Bruna, the Fading Light
4 Duskwatch Recruiter
1 Gisela, the Broken Blade
1 Linvala, the Preserver
1 Odric, Lunarch Marshal

1 Rishkar, Peema Renegade
3 Servant of the Conduit
1 Sigarda, Heron's Grace
4 Sylvan Advocate
1 Thalia, Heretic Cathar
2 Thalia's Lancers
4 Tireless Tracker
1 Verdurous Gearhulk
4 Canopy Vista
8 Forest
4 Fortified Village
8 Plains
Sorceries
1 Collective Effort
2 Declaration in Stone
Instants
1 Blossoming Defense
Enchantments
2 Oath of Nissa
2 Stasis Snare
Artifacts
1 Skysovereign, Consul Flagship
Planeswalkers
1 Ajani Unyielding
1 Bruna, the Fading Light
2 Cataclysmic Gearhulk
1 Linvala, the Preserver
2 Odric, Lunarch Marshal
1 Skysovereign, Consul Flagship
