I'm having trouble trying to update my BG sac deck with the rotation. It's been really frustrating to part with pretty much the backbone of the deck without Kaladesh adding new features or even something to make up for the rotation. Right now, Nantuko Husk and Liliana, Heretical Healerand Llanowar Wastes, along with everyone's hated Collected Company are gone from the deck.
I've been looking at the same problem. I think too many of our cards are rotating to be left with a competitive deck. All of the cards you mentioned are huge but even losing the humble Elvish Visionary has a big impact. I loved playing the deck but I think it might be time to put it away.
Yeah I brought a UB build to FNM a few weeks ago and did respectable for the field, it centered around the sac and drain mechanics. Ive lost too much and the format is just either too fast or full of sweepers.
Even if bant coco humans was "the best deck" they had plenty of games where they couldn't even profitably swing until T4-5. I feel like the format is maybe speeding up a bit again. Not like temur battlerage and [/c]become immense[/c] levels but it feel faster when games are building these insurmountable board states in testing.
Yeah, Marionette Master + Metalwork Colossus is the best sacrifice/drain engine out there in the new format. The problem is that the Ever After combo deck probably does that better than an aristocrats-style deck could.
Would cards like Voldaren Pariah and even Vampiric Rites, the emergers like Distended Mindbender and Foul Emissary along with Eldritch Evolution for some toolbox effects be enough of an update for this deck? Or should I just call it quits and move on to some other archetype?
