Also, I prefer Spell Shrivel over Void Shatter, simply because getting 2 Blue mana by turn 3 is far from guaranteed.
I dont have another two. I had ordered them last week and the holiday mail influx has slowed down the delivery time I suppose. I can make the swaps on the other two and see how it runs.
Tonight is just for fun, as its an FNM and my local play group is sick of my G/B Delirium deck and have made strong efforts to sideboard in a ton of hate for it. I think it will surprise them to see its a U/W flash deck.
I ended up dropping 1 Thalia and removing the Skyship to the sideboard all together for the Gisela's last minute, I also dropped the Always Watching for a 3rd Selfless Spirit I was able to borrow.
I did remove the Negate for the Rebuffs and they worked out well in all the matches aside from the R/G Stompy deck I played against in the last round.
I cam in 2nd overall. I played against an Aetherworks deck, a Grixis Emerge deck and the Stompy deck. Swept both and the Stompy won in a split, mostly because I took a bad hand I thought I could draw into, I had no idea he has a Pummler and a ton of pump spells and he murdered me on 4. 48 total damage. It was insane.
Anyway, I will be taking this to the showdown tomorrow, hopefully it performs equally as well.
Is this the right thread for discussion of the Esper Aggro deck that Jim Davis and Lee Stehl played to success at Atlanta?
I went 4-0 with a similar deck at Saturday Showdown today. Great fun to play.
I went 4-0 with the list I posted above today and got second at FNM the night before.
I plan to run the Lee Stehl deck next weekend for Showdown possibly if I can get the rest of the cards.
I agree that Revolutionary Rebuff is the more flexible main deck counter. I see that you have chosen to stick with UW rather than adopt a splash of black for Scrapheap Scrounger. Personally, I have found the scrounger wonderful. It fits the theme of the deck beautifully being able to attack with a 3/2 that trades with the likes of sylvan advocate and copter, then returns from graveyard to the battlefield for a couple of mana later in the game when you need it. Think I'd rather have them than rattlechains and my selfless spirits are in the side for when I expect sweepers.
There was one game when black mana was slow to show up, but it arrived eventually. Three colours was otherwise not a problem.
My only reservation about Esper Aggro at the moment is that it dies too often to RW vehicles.

I do not think the Scrounger fits into the synergy of the deck. I personally won many games due to a flashed in Rattlechains at the end of the turn. Selfless Spirits are there to trigger Avacyn in a pinch, and protect against board wipes. I did not side them out once, as I felt their value to to great to ofset the 2/1 vulnerability.
Though, these are all dependant on your current meta, so if the Scrounger is working for you and splashing black is giving you what you need, they stay with it.
If I need to get rid of a Copter or Sylvan Advocate, I just Reflector Mage it or Quell it. Sometimes I will Snare it if I am ahead and can create more benefit by Snaring the smaller creature then a larger one. I won two games alone by Snaring a manland.
Updated the deck, I now have 3 Avacyns and 4 Selfless Spirits. Lets see if I can do as well today as I did last week. I removed Gisela from the main deck, despite success last week with her. She did get hit with removal a few times so we will see how this goes. I am choosing not to run 4 Avacyns as play testing has led me to get some hands with multiples and thats not always a good thing.
I've gone 2-1 the past three weeks (place I play only does 3 rounds on Friday's). My losses have been to R/W Vehicles twice and G/B Delirium once. The wins were against R/W Vehicles; R/B Vehicles twice, B/W Control, Metalworks Colossus and a home brew.
The two R/W vehicle losses both came down to where he (same player different weeks) curved out perfectly all 4 games (he got me 2-0 both times). While I end up with slower hands and one game I flooded out with 1/2 my lands in play. In the G/B Delirium loss game 1 was close but I didn't draw an answer needed to finish out the game and Liliana took it home game 1. Game 2 I never drew a 2nd white source and died with 2 Gideon's, 2 Avacyn's and a Snare in my hand that I couldn't play.
Not much to say about the wins accept against the R/W Vehicle deck that has tormented me the previous two weeks; I beat it 2-0; due to he stumbled with slow hands and I ended up curving out perfectly both games going turn 1 Inspector, turn 2 Copter, turn 3 Mage/Queller game 2, turn 4 Gideon, turn 5 Avacyn.

R/W vehicles is a walk in the park. I sideboard out 4 Reflector Mages and 3 Gideons, in goes 2 Blesses Alliance, 2 Thalia, 2 Declaration in Stone and 1 Linvala. If played well, you can win. It required taking some life hits and being aggressive with the copter when possible.
What's everyone's opinion on the 4th Gideon? I like multiple Gideons, almost never dead.
I run 4 MD and don't mind seeing multiples. The 1st one I ultimate 75% of the time for the emblem; since it helps win the mirror match and also helps keep Queller out of Harnessed Lightning range if they don't have any extra energy.

What is the thinking with Bruna and Gisela in the sideboard? Where do they come in to be effective?
I use them in against control decks and some slower aggro decks that dont run a lot of removal. The Gisela is a nice target that is okay to have in the yard due to Bruna, and I usually follow it up with an Avacyn. Her lifelink and first strike come in handy. I have had great luck with her so far and had her main board for awhile and she performed well, but moved her sideboard to run the 3 Rattlechains to protect the Spell Quellers and give my Selfless Spirits flash for that unexpected sacrifice to flip Avacyn.
I too am liking that Disallow, its a cheaper Summary Dismissal, and being able to counter an ultimate is wonderful. I was thinking along the lines of 2 or 3 of the Barals, and 2 Disallows in place of the Revolutionary Rebuff I have now.

After playing several matches, I can say Spell Shrivel is indeed much more versatile then Void Shatter. Thanks for the suggestion.

Taking this same deck to FNM tomorrow night. Does anyone have any changes they would like to see me try?
