Im working on a ur madness/prowess deck and was looking for some advice ive drill it down to the cards i want to use but am having trouble drilling it down any further and with card counts thanks in advance for any help given
I have been playing this deck exclusively pre and post rotation.
It is my standard Baby.
*Key note are if you do not win by turn 4 or 5 you probably lost. This is a very aggro deck.
The highest you ever want to pay for an instant or sorcery is 3 manna, and that spell should be Uncaged fury. Uncaged fury is what allows your consistent turn four kills with titan's strength.
You also need to be main decking either Dispel or Essence Flux because this format is chalk full of removal, and this is a deck that can't afford to lose creatures, unless you can sneak one in for the Uncaged / Titan combo.
What about Brain in a Jar? Also I would love to see a hybrid Madness with the 1 mana cantrips. Are there any 1 mana creatures that do a lot of damage with spells?
The problem with Brain in a Jar is the investment barely gets paid back.
You pay 3 mana and a card to cast a 1 drop.
4 Mana and a card to cast a 1 drop and a 2 drop.
5 Mana and a card to cast a 1 drop, a 2 drop and a 3 drop.
Basically 3 turns to even come close to breaking even and that is ONLY if you curve out.
For the same amount of mana, you'd have 2 2 drops and an one drop already out swinging.
At first glance, I didn't think the two would work well together because you use instants to pump your creatures, so you either limit your attack or waste your creatures.
This deck can consistently flip Thing in the Ice on turn 4 or 5. Sticking a turn 3 Fevered Visions is also a huge value generator and you are probably getting in at least 4 damage even against aggro decks. Control decks just die to visions.
Match 1: Temur Werewolves 2-1
This deck was interesting. He was running Silverfur Partisan with Zada, Hedron Grinder. Initially I thought this was going to be a bad matchup.
Game 1: I stuck a turn 2 Jace and turn 3 Fevered Visions. His hand must have been pretty bad because he only dropped 2 creatures all game. I ended up beating him with 2 Fevered Visions out, a flipped Jace and Thing in the Ice.
Game 2: I expected him to bring in more burn spells and possibly Negates and enchantment removal game 2. I sided in Engulf the Shores and Negate taking out Jace, Jori En, and an anticipate. I ended up getting mana screwed and he ran over me with a million wolves.
Game 3: Stuck to the same sideboard plan. Got out a couple of Stormchaser Mages and he folded to my burn spells and pumps on the mage. (I was right about his sideboard decisions, he added in 2 Negates and 2 Naturalize)
Match 2: G/R Werewolves 2-0
This was almost the same deck as my first match, but with no blue splash and it used Collected Company.
Game 1: Turn 2: Thing in the Ice. Turn 3: Fevered Visions. Turn 4: Stormchaser mage, Expedite, Slip Through Space. Turn 5: Fevered Visions, Expedite, Anticipate. Flip Thing. Game was over.
Game 2: Same sideboard plan as the game before. An early Stormchaser Mage with Lightning Axe and Fiery Temper did the trick. He did get a Collected Company off, but I just Engulfed the Shores next turn and the game was mine after playing a turn 6 Chandra.
Match 3: BUG Control 2-1
Easily the hardest matchup of the night. I wasn't very familiar with how his deck would play and he kept me guessing. These matches were also very grindy
Game 1: Fevered visions was the MVP here. He had a lot of creature removal and I couldn't stick a Thing or Storm for more than one turn. His only mainboard wincon seemed to be Kalitas but Lightning Axe makes short work of him. I won off of burn from Fevered and Fiery Temper.
Game 2: I wasn't sure what to sideboard really. I only saw the Kalitas in game 1 so I took out Just the Winds and added more counter magic. This was a disaster. He had a transformational sideboard and ended up going very aggressive with Sylvan Advocate, Den Protector, and Nissa, Sage Animist. On top of that, none of my creatures stayed on the board and he was able to stay under the 4 card limit for Fevered Visions. He took this game quickly.
Game 3: New sideboard plan: blank all of his removal. I took out all of my creatures, put in all of my bounce and counter magic. He played Duress turn 1 and took a Negate instead of a Fevered Visions. I was able to play the Visions on Turn 3 and had enough removal to keep the board mostly clear. I ended up seeing all 4 Fevered Visions this game. He Negated one and tried to Trangress the Mind another, but Invasive Surgery stopped that. The game came down to me having 3 Visions and dropping a Chandra to finish out the game. When the opponent is using creature removal on his own creatures to stop the Fevered Visions burn, you know you are winning the game.
Match 4: Esper Dragon 2:0
Probably my easiest matchup. I only worried about Duress and Transgress the mind. Both games went the same. I got to stick an early Fevered Visions and got in some chip damage with Stormchasers. He played Ojutai and Silumgar, but again Lightning Axe is very good removal. Game 2 I just sided in Dispel and Invasive Surgery in place of Jace, Jori, and a Slip Through Space.
This deck did much better than I expected. I really thought that I would be up against more enchantment removal. But as my last opponent said "I don't know what to sideboard in, I can deal with Visions but then I lose to the rest of your deck." This deck is very versatile and has multiple win conditions. Its hard for an opponent to decide if they want to risk having a Thing in the Ice flip, keep getting beat down by a Stormchaser, or leave the Fevered Visions out. Fevered Visions was easily the star though. Even when players could avoid the burn, this deck is more efficient with the extra draw. The cheap cantrips give you even more gas and more damage on Stormchaser and quick flips on Thing. It wasn't uncommon to chain cantrips to flip a Thing or get in for 4 or 5 damage on Stormchaser. The only thing I had to worry about was hand disruption but people underestimate Visions and will take a Chandra or counter spell instead.

Danger, any updates for your list? I am working on a similar aggro list. The biggest problem, as you mentioned, is keeping your creatures alive. What do you think about Glint? Seems more main-deck worthy as it can help your creatures block if needed (I use Dispel and Negate in the side, but against CoCo not removal). I will put up a deck list when I have time. This style of UR Aggro may need a different thread as it is more focused on Prowess and less on Madness.

This is the deck I run.
4 Elusive Spellfist
4 Abbot of the Keral Keep DO NOT PLAY A LAND IF YOU ARE CASTING THIS.
4 Stormchaser Mage
2 Goblin Dark-Dwellers Primarily for bringing back Roast or Uncaged Fury if the game is stalling. One of the weaker cards in the deck. May be removed for Zurgo Bellstriker
1 Jori En, Ruin Diver
1 Zada, Hedron Grinder
This is a deck where you cannot afford to see multiples of legendaries. If you are not winning by turn 4 or 5 you have probably lost.
4 Fiery Impulse
4 Titan's Strength
4 Slip through Space
3 Essence Flux
3 Uncaged Fury
2 Roast
2 Magmatic Insight A must have of at least 2, because nothing is worse than drawing too many lands with such a low cost deck.
1 Expedite Also one of my weaker cards
21 Lands
You pay 3 mana and a card to cast a 1 drop.
4 Mana and a card to cast a 1 drop and a 2 drop.
