I know it isn't tribal, but has anyone thought to try Reckless Bushwhacker in any of their iterations? I'm still playing around with my previously listed version, but I will probably try the goblin out at some point if nobody else does.
This deck blew me out 2-0 last night. Both games he put down a Falkenrath Heir. Then an Olvia. Then he would discard and haste out a Thunderbreak. It was fast and hard hitting.
Some other cards I witnessed were Alms, Kalitas, K-command, Drana. I dont think he had any 1cmc creatures

seems similar to my deck. aside from Alms, does he have any other madness cards? aside from Heir and Olivia, does he have any other madness enabler? thanks!
Any suggestions? Should I include Stensia Masquerade as 2 of?
Thanks to all
I don't think I would play Masquerade main-deck on a bet. I don't have any at all currently and don't plan to test it.
Main-deck I want only burn for removal and only burn that also goes to the dome. Ruinous Path is good side-board for Plainswalkers and nasty four-drops that ruin your day.
I didn't have success with Asylum Visitor or Olivia, Mobilized for War. Visitor just so rarely survived long enough to produce and my hand was always depleted or nearly depleted by the time I could cast Olivia; I just never had a Madness card and a Vampire available.
Personally, I'm going to try replacing Falkenrath Gorger with Indulgent Aristocrat. I may ditch a Titan's Strength for an extra Aristocrat. Also, I'd like to swap more Burn for the other two Titan's Strength but the available Burn is just so awful; still I'll probably try it as top-decking Titan's Strength with an empty board and an opponent at one-life is the über-suck.
For reference, here's the last list I played and to which I refer for the foregoing changes.
I also like Ruinous Path in the side-board. There doesn't seem to be enough of a chance for Delirium in this deck for To the Slaughter to work well.
I wouldn't touch Lightning Axe especially main-board; I want my burn to go to the dome. Exquisite Firecraft still seems mandatory.
Hello everyone! I have been playing a r/b evasive midrange deck since Shadows was released. It took second place at FNM one night, but lately the results have been underwhelming. If you want to check out what's going on with r/b evasive midrange check out this thread.
We have had a couple of people place with their decks. Could be a good place to get ideas and share thoughts. Us Rakdos players need to stick together as our colors seem to need a little help.
I'm considering trying out this new deck list that is more vampire-aggro centered. This deck keeps it's old theme of evasive creatures, but it runs lower to the ground. It adds in a burn theme. The deck's goal is to lay down evasive creatures early and often then finish the opponent off through Fiery Temper, Alms of the Vein, Exquisite Firecraft and Grotesque Mutation.
I didn't see Grotesque Mutation mentioned in the last couple of pages in the thread. I played 2 in the sideboard with the older midrange version of the deck last FNM and they did great things. I found myself putting them into the deck for multiple games and enjoying the results. This card along with Alms of the Vein look a little underwhelming on paper. However, with 4 copies of each we stand to gain some serious life, something this deck could use. Also, Grotesque Mutation furthers the original game plan of getting damage through to the dome when paired with evasive creatures. I think it could be a sneaky turn 4 play if the opponent doesn't have up mana for instant speed removal or isn't playing a color that has a lot of it. Double Grotesque Mutation onto Olivia turn 4 to gain 9 life and deal 9 flying damage. Grotesque is going to stand to gain us 5-6 life most times we use it. Of course this requires careful play and paying attention to the opponents mana and what kind of removal spell they are playing to be effective. One of my problems in previous incarnations of the deck was getting killed just a turn before the opponent was about to die. I think these cards will keep me alive long enough that my slightly slower, bigger creatures with evasion can finish off the opponent.
What do you think of this decklist? It looks a little bit slower than most decks posted here. However I think the damage potential of 3 drops such as Olivia, Drana and Sin Prodder gives it extra punch to finish off the opponent in a more consistent manner (hopefully.)
I'm surprised that people haven't been liking Olivia, Mobilized for War and Drana, Liberator of Malakir. They combo amazingly well together. Turn 3 Olivia turn 4 give Drana haste, attack in for 7 flying damage, 11 flying damage if you had an Heir to Falkenwrath out on turn 3. You end up with a 4/3 4/4 and 4/5 flying creatures on the end of the turn. Giving Sin Prodder haste turn 4 can also be a good idea if they don't have 2 blockers up. Or madness a Fiery Temper to remove a blocker then swing in with Prodder. Perhaps the reason I like Olivia/Drana so much is that all of my creatures have evasion. It becomes easier to just keep up the full swing of creatures into combat when they all have evasion.
I've seen people playing Sin Prodder in their lists here. I've found it quite useful and usually played 3-4 copies in previous builds. It can win games very quickly if we have been getting in a bit of damage before it drops. It really does provide great card advantage as it filters lands off the top of the deck. This is something that I didn't appreciate fully until I started playing it. You should see an opponents eyes bulge when a turn 3 Sin Prodder is followed up by turn 4 Sin Prodder. If they both reveal a spell on your next upkeep it's going to be gg very soon. I like that this new build has so many direct damage spells. If Alms, Fiery Temper or Exquisite Firecraft are revealed, the opponent will be taking damage either way. This fellow is a hidden madness support card. When we have them on the tail end of their life total, they just have to put the cards into our hand or die. I've seen it happen many times before, but I wasn't playing madness at the time. Extra cards means extra chances to flip Heir, give things haste with Olivia or use an alms/temper for it's cheap madness cost. Also, this deck has a decent amount of haste enabling, which means even creatures put into your hand can sometimes get damage through that turn.
People have been talking a bit about sideboarding in Duress and Transgress the Mind. YES! These cards are awesome. Just what we need to pick out sweepers and planeswalkers. I recommend at least 6 copies between the 2 of them, I may be going even higher. It is such an amazing feeling when after getting crushed by a control player game one, you proceed to out-control them games 2 and 3. I have done this more than a couple of times The nice thing is that, our control spells cost so much less than theirs do! This means we have a good chance of getting rid of what we want before they can play it.
PS, I have been considering Expedite as of late. Thoughts on this and the rest of the deck? It's untested right now so insights are appreciated.
It's funny you should mention Thunderbreak Regent as he is a premier card in the other r/b evasive midrange deck this deck came from. I'm probably going to stick with that deck after all. I'm not too sure about posting it here as it's not aggro or all that vampire/madness focused.
Check out this thread if you want to see that list.
As to Grotesque mutation over Titan's Strength, it may not be the right choice but I think it is. I've noticed I lose a lot of games where, if I only had just a bit more life, my opponent would have been finished the next turn. Grotesque Mutation really helped with this. Also, I'm hoping that by pairing it with Alms of the Vein I will get a nice fat life buffer so my creatures can get damage in for an extra turn or 2. Scrying 1 is pretty sweet too though!
I've made a R/B madness deck, and I use x3 Mad Prophets in it. Some of my buddies really questioned that, but when we played them, they saw it was amazing for madness.
Ok, I been playing with this archetype for a little over 3 weeks.. I top 8 a pptq and have won several FNM's with this build... I don't know if this is an optimal build, but I think it makes this deck a RDW Madness deck splashing black for Olivia, Heir, and Transgress.
Four Goldnight Castigator's seems like a recipe for trouble. I'm not sure it's really main-deck material at all. I have two side-board and the one time I used them, they pretty much beat me. I may have lost anyway, but the Castigator's definitely helped with the losing.
I have been working on a B/R vamp madness deck but can not seem to get it to run right. Had a small tournament last night and lost 2 out of 3. I know the deck can work. I used it prior to the tourny and won all 3 games. How can I make the deck quicker and more aggressive?
I only have 2x Foreboding Ruins and 2x Smoldering Marsh otherwise I would have more in the deck. Also, I am suppose to be getting 2 more Drana's which I will be adding to the deck. I will probably replace 2x of the Twins for them. I have 2x Asylum Visitor that I took out. Do they need to be in the deck? If so, what should I replace them with? Last night I got a guy down to 1 life and could not draw another burn spell. He was playing control so all my creatures was gone so I am looking to make the deck faster. How can I make the deck more aggressive? Also, what would be some good cards to have in the sideboard? I was thinking Transgress the Mind and Duress. I was also thinking about adding Avacyn's Judgment to the sideboard if I did not replace the Alms of the Vein with them. Thanks for taking the time to look at my deck and for all of your suggestions!!

Collective Defiance will probably be the replacement for Exquisite Firecraft when that rotates but I'm not sure it's good enough to replace it now. Any thoughts?
Interesting deck build. Though if you're running Furyblade, Distemper is an awesome combo for him.
Here's how I would go about with the BR Madness build. I added in more discard outlets so Bloodhall's ability triggers. Also reduced him to a 2-off. Voldaren Pariah feels like a sideboard if anything.
If feels like you have too many discard cards and not enough cards to be discarded.
I count 17 cards that want to pitch cards to the graveyard. Voldaren Pariah and Haunted Dead are needed to give you the ability to make more bodies when you discard.
12 cards from Heir of Falkenrath , Stromkirk Condemned and Furyblade Vampire
seems like much.
With the Distemper of the Blood, you could get blown out by removal getting 2 for 1'd consistently.
Could you bring in card draw since you are going to be hellbent consistently?
At this point, i think the deck is best to be split onto monocolor and splash decks.
Mono red and mono black have more than enough cards to be viable on their own, especially red. mono red and Black splash red is likely the best for madness.dec.
At this point, i think the deck is almost more RDW than madness, but it utilizes madness so much that i think it's still part of the madness archtype.
I think Stromkirk Occultist and Bloodmad Vampire are interchangable in decks without distsmper and strength. But in my list I refuse to value Occultis as high as Bloodmad due the lower base power, and the draw form being unable to trigger madness on. If you draw into a Distemper or Strength, its a dead draw and you're down a very valuble card.
I think you're on to something here, Red Shadows... Though you could replace Bloodmad Vampire with Stromkirk Occultist. remember how some RDWs ran Abbot of Keral Keep? Occultist would be your Abbot.

Yep. I'm aware of Occultist, but i think its bad here. It's an absolutely dead draw on 11 cards in the deck. Strength, Youths, and Distemper are all unplayable if exiled by Occultist.
Yes it helps dig, but only AFTER it deals combat damage, which gimps our combat tricks. Youths costs 5 via the exile cost, and that's never going to be realisitcally effective post combat.

The best thing this deck can do is:

I won't leave home again without play-sets of these three, plus sets of Olivia's Bloodsworn, Alms of the Vein, Fiery Temper, and Exquisite Firecraft. I like three of Tormenting Voice as well. The rest is negotiable.

Firstly, I'd dump Lightning Axe for Exquisite Firecraft. Olivia's Bloodsworn is, in my mind, an auto-include. You should probably go down to three on Tormenting Voice as you don't want them in bunches. I'd also recommend the full sets of Alms of the Vein and Insolent Neonate.
I've had little luck with Drana, Liberator of Malakir or Olivia, Mobilized for War; both are just too slow to provide the needed impact. Incorrigible Youths is a guy that can get it done. He obviously likes Madness but I've had success even hard-casting him.
