Hmmm, to be honest, the 4 color version seems more inconsistent than my old mardu version. Abzan Ascendancy is good but I don't think I need 4 of them, and evolutionary leap seems better. Also, both cards seem like "Win-more" cards. My deck was doing fine without any token generating enchantment and I'm not sure I need it as it kind of slows down the aggro beatdown.
Thought I'd do a quick tournament report from the SCG Open in Atlanta. I don't remember much but will try to be as through as possible.
My buddy had been playing an almost identical list to the one I played for a week and had been doing real good with it, especially against the red agro decks so I thought it would be a good choice. I ended up going 10-4-1 and got 28th.

Round 1 Abzan Aristocrats. 2-1 win
Game 1 I won easily. I hit a Grim Haruspex and buried him under card advantage, and he missed on a CoCo only getting 1 creature.
Game 2 I wasn't even thinking of Anafenza coming in so I mis borded and scooped when she came down turn 3.
Game 2 I kept his board clear with a couple of Minister of pain triggers and kept up card advantage with the haruspex
round 2 Dark Jeskai. 2-1 win
Game 1 I don't really remember mush except I got out ahead of his creatures and won.
Game 2 I mulled to 5 and missed land drops.
Game 3 I flooded the board and won before he could wrath my board.
Round 3 Dark Jeskai. 1-2 loss
Game 1 I won easly don't rember much about it except turn 5 he scooped.
Game 2 I mulled to 5 and lost under his massive board. Somehow I still remember it being close though
Game 3 I mulled to 6 and didn't hit my 3rd land till turn 5 and then my 4th till turn 8.
Rounds 4-6 the same, 2-0 wins, all some form of atarka or BR.
Round 7 I played aginst I believe a temur splashing B but not sure. 2-0
Game 1 my opponent got a loss cause he played a morph but layed the wrong card and didn't figure it out till the following turn.
Game 2 was a game with me chipping way at him and him hammering me. by my turn 5 he was at 12 and I was at 7. He had a thunderbreak regent and the BR dragonlord. A CoCo n his turn netted me a Haruspex and a Husk while I had the Cutthroat on board. On my turn I drew another Harspex and sacked it to pump the husk. that netted me a Hanger back which played for 1 allowed me to pump the Husk 2 more times and swing with lethal.
Round 8 Abzan Aristocrats 0-2
Game 1 I mulled to 5. I got him to 7 then bricked for the following 6 turns all while scrying 1-3 cards a turn looking for a CoCo or husk to finish him off. He also played 3 CoCo's
Game 2 I kept my 7 and he had the turn 3 anafenza. I had an answer but didn't draw it till he dropped a couple visionarys the following turn. So I was looking for a Minister of Pain as well. By the turn I got it the minister would have killed me from the Cutthroat triggers.
In the mirror I side out my fleshbags but he didn't. I personally don't want to give my opponent any triggers or choices on who to sac, especially with hangarback walkers in the deck. I'd say that I feel his choice was wrong but I guess he did win so I don't know.
Round 9 GW morph 1-2
Game 1 I lost a really close game that I would have won if I had scryed 1 more card deeper on my upkeep like I had intended on but thought better of it because the card I was getting was going to buy me a turn but not win the game. The CoCo underneath would have won me the game.
Game 2 He scooped by turn 6
Game 3 was a hard fought game but he ended up getting it with a sea of wingmate rocks.
Round 10 Atarka splash black 2-0
Game 1 was a slaughter.
Game 2 was interesting. He sided in tainted remedy and hit it turn 3. I ended up getting him low enough that my loss of life didn't matter.
Round 11 Abzan splash U 1-2
Game 1 I won Easley
Game 2 I Played a CoCo trying to go for the win and he had the Dispel when I should have gone for the safer play and just jambed a hangerback and another creature and waited.
Game 3 the only thing I rember is needing a Husk and having the CoCo. I sacked 2 Scions and had the Sifter out for the scrys along the the Cutthroat. I announced all triggers and stacked them. I resolved the Cutthroat triggers and he had a discrepancy in life and we got that figured. I forgot to resolve the scry triggers and played the CoCo. I missed on the Husk and lost. The second card from the top was The husk I needed.
Round 12 GW Megamorph 2-0 I think. I don't rember anything form this match except I won. I was really getting tired by now.
Round 13 Abzan 2-0.
Game 1 I only rember this came because my opponent tried to shark me. I had him to 7 and swung with 3 creatures, a cutthroat, husk and zombie token while I had an un flipped Liliana. He had a rhino to block the husk and I went to damage. He allowed it. I announced all triggers and short cutted and said use Liliana to return husk and sack, sack and sack for the final 3. He goes there is only 1 zombie and I said I get one from the Liliana and he goes you never put it into play. the next turn I just swing he loses.
Game 2 I just rember dominating the board and never being behind.
Round 14 GW Morph 1-1-1
Game 3 is all I rember cause we went to time and If I had just 1 more turn I would have won.
Round 15 GW Eldrazi 2-1
Game 1 I get off of a Fleshbag sacking his eldrazi that tutors and lowers the cost by 2 of the first creature you play and he places an Ulamog on top of his deck with only 8 mana up.
Game 2 he handles my creatures and gets to cast an Ulamog and wins
Game 3 I top deck a Liliana with an unflipped out that allows me to get back a Husk and swing for exactly lethal while he is at 10.
Going forward with the deck I am going to splach red for 2-3 maindeck outpost Siege and 4 boarded rending Volley. the siege works under anafenza and can also hit creatures and players and draws extra cards. The volley hits all the creatures you want to hit and the red mana actually helps the Mana base. I'm also going to cut the carrier thralls for elvish visionarys. I feel the draw out weighs the extra body.
My biggest problem was during the tournament several opponents really try to shark you by asking you to specify triggers and stack them. Most times just saying Triggers say what your doing and shortcutting is sufficient but at the bigger tournaments it's a different story.
Over all I enjoyed the deck and feel it's really strong. I'm going to make the changes and keep playing it.

Awesome man, how would you change the deck in terms of card selection and mana base?
I can't decide if I want 2 Maruaders and 3 Siege or vice versa. Going to have to test it out. I basically want to keep the deck pretty much as is. I don't want to dilute the chance of hitting with the CoCo. that card is what makes the deck so good. I never missed with it in any pre boarded games.
Thought I'd do a quick tournament report from the SCG Open in Atlanta. I don't remember much but will try to be as through as possible.

Congrats, and thanks for posting all that.
I like the simplicity of a G/B build, I'm finding in my four-color build I have a lot of trouble getting the mana to work.
New to the thread, someone please give me the TL;DR version as it applies to Golgari Aristocrats?
I haven't played for about a month, and was completely clueless as to how BFZ even played, so I bought the event deck. "OMG, look at this value" So I bought a second event deck, and shoved the two together in some form of 75 cards. It did "OK" at FNM this weekend, going 2-2. Yet that was 2 wins against home brews, and two losses against well tuned decks full of money cards.
I lack a playtest group at the moment, any insight would be of course appreciated.
Two event decks is a solid base, but it lacks a bit of punch. Most of your strongest cards like Hangarback Walker, Whisperwood Elemental, Evolutionary Leap and possibly Smothering Abomination you only have 2 off. Go 4 hangarbacks and 3 of some of the others to get a bit more oomph without changing it drastically. As for additional cards, easiest to fit in without changing the strategy is Liliana, Heretical Healer. Awesome value and great synergy.
I'd stick to 3 Fleshbag / 2 siege honestly. You want your CoCo to hit a critical mass fast, and sometimes you desperately need to fleshbag out something like Mantis Rider ASAP.
Damn are there a lot of triggers to keep track of. Especially with Rot Shambler and Abomination out. Counter, Life Loss, Life Gain, Scry, Draw ('Can't Let Life Stop Dreaming' is how I remember). I'm just now getting into Standard, so I built the SB with Block in mind. Any advice would be appreciated.

Modern
Dredge, Evo-Chord, U/G Faeries, Living End, Something New
Right now this is what I am planing on playing. I feel like Brutal Hordechief could really close the gap with fewer creatures we could swing and sacrifice creatures before damage takes place.
Thanks man, I caught up greatly with Sloan's play by play of his GB deck.
I am at a loss as to why I don't own 4 CC by now, as I needed them to replace my old birthing pods in my modern deck. Also agreed on lack of "punch"... Last week was my first outing with the "double event deck" build, and I felt that I was just putting out dudes to sacrifice dudes with fairly lukewarm results.

Thanks for that triggers nmemonic device.. I'm gonna need it playing this deck!
So how is everyone planning on dealing with Mantis Rider? Almost every creature in the deck is smaller than it and there is limited removal for it. As a result it looks like a very tough card for this deck. I have been toying around with this deck but with Jeskai being the most popular deck right now this appears to be a real weakness which I would like to address.
I'd guess same answer as anafenza, namely infinite obliteration
There are loads of instant speed removal spells that kill Mantis Rider, depending what colors your deck is. Just put some in your board, or maindeck if you really fear mantis.
Just wanted to thank everyone on this thread. The discussion here really helped me put together the deck for this weekend. First time I have won a PPTQ. I went 4-1-1, the draw was last round into top8. In the finals, I faced Abzan company, GWmegamorph, and JeskaiBlack. In truth, Evan playing JeskaiBlack should have won. He lost game1 because he forgot to desideboard, you could say his Felidar Cub won me the finals. Evan is a really solid player, but 9 hours of playing Magic, things happen.
I would post a deck list, but it should be up on SCG's site soon. I ran abzan, 4x each collected, gather, and rally. There are 25 creatures and 23 land.
Couple of things I liked. Surge of Righteousness was really good. It saved me against Atarka red (DeMars list), also against Mantis Rider and Anafenza. Scry is very important, it finds rally.
The deck has weaknesses, but it can be so explosive. I was down 37 to 2 in a game against abzan and managed to win. He resolved 2 Anafenzas that game. In the finals, against GWmegamorph, I was down 42 to 6 and won the next turn. With 3 Cutthroats on board, that last rally was more than 50 points in damage. Cutthroat may not be Blood Artist, but he can do some significant work.
Just wanted to say thanks to those that post. This archtype is real and can win tournaments, well, at least one.
Inspired by StewieG21's list (congratulations on the great showing!), I replaced Abzan Ascendancy with 4 Catacomb Sifter and so far in testing my deck is doing much better. SIfter makes setting up the mana much less akward and he's great in multiples and provides a threat, as opposed to Abzan Ascendancy which is really cool in theory but requires too much set up and too many things going my way for it to be any good and felt too much like a win-more card.
The mana is now more consistent and I haven't really struggled to play anything the first turns. It is essentially a GB deck with RW splash just for Butcher of the Horde and the ability to play sideboard cards in those colors. I feel like I need some more removal in here so might play around with trying Abzan Charm or something else in the main board.
I don't know if it's stupid to splash 2 colors for 1 maindecked card, but honestly in testing I'm consistently getting a forest and swamp the first 2 turns, and from there the deck functions fine. Maybe more testing will reveal this to be inconsistent but right now it's great and I like having sideboard options for Surge of Righteousness and Rending Volley, and a few other things.
Anafenza has been popping up a lot more now that people are wise to how explosive this deck can get. I really don't want to have to put more removal than the 2x Bone Splinters I have in the main, but I may have to.

You currently only have 5 non creature spells, making sultai emissary very solid in your list. I would suggest trying it in place of blisterpod. I think it will do more work for you and make sifter your only green card should give you nearly perfect mana
Anafenza has been popping up a lot more now that people are wise to how explosive this deck can get. I really don't want to have to put more removal than the 2x Bone Splinters I have in the main, but I may have to.
I run 3x Bone Splinters mainboard for my meta, and it works great for exactly what you are thinking, and that is removing Anafenza (also Drana, Liberator of Malakir). I dropped 1 Husk (down to 3) and added the Bone Splinters and haven't looked back.
Is Bone Splinters really preferable over Abzan Charm?
Or are we assuming we are playing Golgari at this point?
Is the fact you can cast Bone Splinters and another creature on that turn the reason for it being better?
I really think this deck is better with Bone Splinters. That being said I also think this deck is "WAY" better with the W splash for Abzan Ascendancy. In turn you could run Abzan Charm with the W if you find you are having trouble with card advantage, and aren't running Elvish Visionary or Grim Haruspex.
I think Secure the Wastes could work in a similar way that Rally the Ancestors could work. I just think that mid-to-late game, Rally will be better, simply because you will be sac-ing a lot of creatures less than 3 CMC, and bringing back creatures in your graveyard and sac-ing them also triggers those creatures' effects (like Catacomb Sifter and being able to scry while sac-ing creatures). Damnable Pact doesn't have a place in Cutthroat. Too slow for card advantage in a deck that you want to be dropping creatures every turn. If you need card advantage run Abzan Charm over Bone Splinters or run a few Elvish Visionary or a Grim Haruspex.
I've been running a Mardu list for a bit now, did all right last FNM (3-1), and trying to move towards more green & white. What I'm wondering is, how useful is it to keep the red? Or how much red? The splash is basically free, depending on the structure of the manabase. Butcher of the Horde is a great wincon, but Nantuko Husk can be a solid sac outlet as well, and I'm a bit underwhelmed by Dragon Fodder. The problem I'm having is mainly getting both white and green at the same time to cast something like Abzan Ascendancy. Really difficult to cast that on curve right now.
Typical rally is for x=3, so 5 mana. Occasionally I rally for 2, but that is maybe 1 in 12 times. Sometimes you rally simply to draw, when they attack. You do not always need cutthroat or a sac outlet. What you do need is creatures in the yard that give value off of rally.
I look at the deck as a slow attrition/value deck. Collected company, while it does not end games like rally, can be a massive card advantage tool, at instant speed. Rally and CoCo being instants really makes the deck competitive.
I would say maybe 65% of the time, I rally and win off cutthroat triggers. That leaves just better than a third of games where you win from simply combat with creatures.
I most often lose to flyers. I would say 2/3 of loses are due to flyers. And getting stuck on 2 lands for too long is frustrating.

I'm going to make the changes and keep playing it.
something along the lines of
3 Blister Pod
4 Nantuko Husk
4 Zulaport Cutthroat
4 Elvish Visionary
3 grim haruspex
4 Hangarback Walker
3 Liliana, Heretical healer
4 Catacomb Sifter
2 Fleshbag Maruader
4 Collected Company
2 Outpost Siege
Lands
4 Llanowar Waste
4 Bloodstained Mire
4 Wooded Foothills
2 Cinder glade
2 Smoldering Marsh
4 Swamp
3 Forest
4 Rending Volley
3 Minister of Pain
3 Caustic Caterpillar
3 Self Inflicted Wound
2 Merciless Executioner
I can't decide if I want 2 Maruaders and 3 Siege or vice versa. Going to have to test it out. I basically want to keep the deck pretty much as is. I don't want to dilute the chance of hitting with the CoCo. that card is what makes the deck so good. I never missed with it in any pre boarded games.
Congrats, and thanks for posting all that.
I like the simplicity of a G/B build, I'm finding in my four-color build I have a lot of trouble getting the mana to work.
This is one example (as posted earlier in the thread): http://sales.starcitygames.com//deckdatabase/displaydeck.php?DeckID=92651
For a slightly different strategy but still staying Golgari, you could run Collected Company and play as many =<3 mana creatures as you can. Or you could run a megamorph package with Den Protector and Deathmist Raptor, which fits the general strategy well and has synergy with Grim Haruspex, Whisperwood Elemental and Sultai Emissary.
4 Bloodstained Mire
1 Cinder Glade
1 Smoldering Marsh
1 Spawning Bed
6 Swamp
8 Forest
Creature
4 Hangarback Walker
4 Blisterpod
4 Carrier Thrall
4 Rot Shambler
4 Zulaport Cutthroat
4 Catacomb Sifter
4 Nantuko Husk
2 Liliana, Heretical Healer
2 Smothering Abomination
2 Bone Splinters
Enchantment
3 Evolutionary Leap
2 From Beyond
3 Transgress the Mind
2 Malakir Familiar
1 Complete Disregard
2 Retreat to Kazandu
2 Ruinous Path
3 Rising Miasma
2 Aligned Hedron Network
Damn are there a lot of triggers to keep track of. Especially with Rot Shambler and Abomination out. Counter, Life Loss, Life Gain, Scry, Draw ('Can't Let Life Stop Dreaming' is how I remember). I'm just now getting into Standard, so I built the SB with Block in mind. Any advice would be appreciated.

Toying with bone splinters, I think it has enough collateral effects with other cards to be interesting.
There are loads of instant speed removal spells that kill Mantis Rider, depending what colors your deck is. Just put some in your board, or maindeck if you really fear mantis.
Here's my current list:
4 Bloodsoaked Champion
4 Carrier Thrall
4 Zulaport Cutthroat
4 Hangarback Walker
4 Nantuko Husk
4 Catacomb Sifter
4 Butcher of the Horde
3 Bone Splinters
1 Sorin, Solemn Visitor
1 Prairie Stream
1 Canopy Vista
3 Forest
1 Plains
4 Swamp
3 Polluted Delta
1 Cinder Glade
1 Smoldering Marsh
3 Wooded Foothills
2 Windswept Heath
3 Bloodstained Mire
I don't know if it's stupid to splash 2 colors for 1 maindecked card, but honestly in testing I'm consistently getting a forest and swamp the first 2 turns, and from there the deck functions fine. Maybe more testing will reveal this to be inconsistent but right now it's great and I like having sideboard options for Surge of Righteousness and Rending Volley, and a few other things.
Or are we assuming we are playing Golgari at this point?
Is the fact you can cast Bone Splinters and another creature on that turn the reason for it being better?
You currently only have 5 non creature spells, making sultai emissary very solid in your list. I would suggest trying it in place of blisterpod. I think it will do more work for you and make sifter your only green card should give you nearly perfect mana

I run 3x Bone Splinters mainboard for my meta, and it works great for exactly what you are thinking, and that is removing Anafenza (also Drana, Liberator of Malakir). I dropped 1 Husk (down to 3) and added the Bone Splinters and haven't looked back.
I'm guessing get back multiple Zulaport Cutthroat and a sac engine card, bring back a ton of creatures and sac all of them to trigger Cutthroat?
Thoughts/suggestions?
2x Bloodsoaked Champion
2x Butcher of the Horde
4x Den Protector
2x Fleshbag Marauder
2x Hangarback Walker
1x Liliana, Heretical Healer
2x Sidisi, Undead Vizier
4x Zulaport Cutthroat
Spells 16
2x Abzan Ascendancy
2x Evolutionary Leap
3x Collateral Damage
2x Secure the Wastes
1x Utter End
2x Bone Splinters
4x Dragon Fodder
4x Bloodstained Mire
2x Canopy Vista
2x Cinder Glade
1x Forest
2x Mountain
3x Plains
2x Smoldering Marsh
4x Swamp
1x Windswept Heath
4x Wooded Foothills
3x Arashin Cleric
2x Silkwrap
2x Crackling Doom
3x Duress
2x Languish
3x Self-Inflicted Wound
Note - at the moment I only own one Liliana and 2 Hangarbacks, otherwise there would probably be more copies included.
