Against Abzan I just hope for the best and board in 4 Eidolons especially in on the play because YOLO joke uhh it's actually to stifle their removal; pretty good with Hall of Triumph out. Now that you mention it, I playtested against RW Tokens yesterday and saw their difficulties whenever I draw my 1-of Hall of Triumph. I could swap a Shatter for a 2nd copy in the SB I suppose. Whips are 3-ofs in the deck, so I'll probably just luck out my opening hand with that 1-of remaining copy of Shatter in the SB; haven't played against Sidisi Whip at all.
I was just wondering if boss sligh is a good choice for an Abzan heavy meta? If it is which one is better, the hyper aggressive version (Tom Ross' state champ list) or Raphael Levy's worlds list?
Seems like a Red Midrange deck. Not sure I like the addition of Eidolon as the only sub-3cmc creature. I feel like it'd do more harm than good if you cast it early.
been playtesting a lot more than I would've wanted. frankly it gets boring but it needs to be done lol.
update so far, 4x stoke/4x lightning strike a must. cutting down to 3 foundry street denizen, going on 3 hordeling outburst. no more coordinated assault,
1 arc lightning main deck, 2 more sideboard. i've been going thru lots of control and abzan opponents lately, i've been having success with just going on pure burn after SB. might test out more with fated conflag and magma jet SB just to add more burn.
When I need artifact destruction, I tend to prefer Torch Fiend to Shatter, since I can enchant it in a pinch. Is that not the right call?
I've been using the 37-one drops list with an extra Frenzied Goblin instead of Arena Athlete, and I find I want Lightning Strikes way more often than drawing that damn Goblin. I feel like it's just as good at dealing with troublesome blockers and has the flexibility of fighting in those last points of damage where necessary. I've moved all four into the main and the four goblins to the side, but I notice others doing 2/2 splits and other mixes. What do people think is the right number?
Just played against an Azoreus control deck that was 32ish removal / control, 4 Elspeth and rest land. He actually had as many answers as I had threats, and just plopped Elspeth to win. What to put in sideboard and sideboard into against such a match up?
I only run 3 Eidolon because I have not picked up a 4th yet. I will switch out an Arc Lightning when I get it. I think I will be dropping the Trumpet Blast, it tends to be a dead draw or an unnecessary win more card. Not sure what I will slide in to replace it.

I will always firmly stand by the belief that Magic is a game first and a collectable second.
it's a little bit disheartening that all my friends are asking me to back down from bringing the boss sligh into GP and urging me to play another instead. sigh
For the moment that is a likely option if I do not just throw in another creature. I also should get Circle of Flame for my sideboard, but keep forgetting (probably drop the Lightning Strikes).

While it is a fun deck, I am not sure if I would want to bring it to a big event like that. Although, being one of the cheapest "competitive" decks people will build it is likely you will see a lot of both this and UW heroic just for cost reasons.

I'd prefer scouring sands instead of circle of flame. the circle only prevents them from attacking, and they can still amass blockers....scouring sands can get rid of multiple blockers instead.
I just made up my mind, GP in less than 10 days, i'm going with BOss Sligh regardless of the meta....wish me luck
Has anyone tried Prophetic Flamespeaker in the board? It seems like it would only be bad against midrange and reanimator, but I don't have a lot of time to test it before next weekend.
I have been testing the following deck on cockatrice in anticipation of taking to this Friday's FNM. At my LGS we get a decent turn out with usually 4 or 5 rounds of swiss, no cut to top 8 or anything. I have no idea what the meta is like as I haven't touched a constructed format that wasn't Pauper in over a year but I'd assume it's relatively diverse and hopefully not many Whip of Erebos centered decks. Anyway, here's the list, pretty standard from what I can tell but any and all criticism is encouraged.
So far in my relatively limited testing these are things I've noticed:
It seems really easy to bait out removal with Akroan Crusader.
Without Hall of Triumph in play, I pretty much fold if they get a Doomwake Giant trigger to resolve. Any advice to play around this other than kill them before it hits? Maybe +1 Hall in the board?
I feel the maindeck is fairly solid, but the sideboard could use work(obviously once I get used to the meta adjustments will be made).

Cards I would like to test in the board:
Hammer of Purphorous and/or Prophetic Flamespeaker for the control matchup.
Chandra, Pyromaster, potentially for against control and midrange decks?
Harnes By Force, big green creatures can be really scary.
Thanks for any help in advance!
