I love that card and would love to find a reason to put it back in. It used to win me a lot of games. If I had it in my hand, I would intentionally hold back some one drops just to drop 4-6 points of burn. Devastating indeed.
It would either eat up some removal before I got out a Rabblemaster or if it was left on the board, it'd provide an effective 2 for 1 with a burn spell. Hit the player and most likely remove a creature at the same time. I really like that card and I'm a little curious why no one is playing it anymore.
Well, it does require you to have a burn spell and a creature on the battlefield (both satyr himself and a creature to burn) to get all of the advantage. It isnt all that bad and restrictive, though, but i personally do not like that combo, just for reasons mentioned earlier, i would rather have a decent creature or a burn off of my topdeck than this little fella.
I would also like to point out that Purphoros is great with the Hordelling Outburst and it loses quite a bit of its value without this card. And while Hammer gives you additional devotion and can eventually even activate god, i would consider adding some hall of triumph, maybe 1 of, because the effect of them combined is 3 2/2 haste goblins that shoot lasers from their eyes and dont die to anger of the gods just because they can. It will certainly raise a curve and maybe it doesnt worth it, but im open to suggestions
What about something along these lines? Also, any consideration for Jeering Instigator? It might play too slow for this deck but wanted to throw it out there anyway's.

I started my testing with the decklist from the GP LA by Eric Pei, I though it was ok, but in my testing on mtgo I came to the conclusion that arena athlete and hall of triumph were quite underwhelming if our game plan was to kill before turn 6
That is the reason why I looked for more straightforward answers like the strikes, after discussing the real value of coordinated assault with a friend of mine, we came up with the idea of putting a singleton crater's claw, there were so many pros and mostly no cons that we decided that it was the real way to go, there was the "good top deck after wrath thing", the removal aspect and in some ways the casting with x=o to trigger multiple things with akroan crusader and the like... finally it is not hard to trigger ferocious and make it bigger.
As you can see most of the changes are in the sideboard, I realized that BG devotion was by far my worst match up, and i thought that War-name aspirant was the best tool at our disposal since she just walks around the manadorks and doesn't die to doomwake giant.
I think the rest is self explanatory.
Some notes and random tips and thoughts in no particular order.
On day one I just took 2 mulligans.
On day 2 I took 6 mulligans.
I dealt 18 damage by turn 3 to one guy.
My fastest round had 37 remaining minutes in the clock (r9)
I effectively missplayed in all the rounds I lost, with the exception of the last one.
Whenever possible play dragon mantle and in response titan's strength to get the scry before drawing.
War-name aspirant is really good, put a hammerhand on it and it walks past kruphixes.
The deck is absurdly consistent turns 1-2-3 if you keep 2 lands.
Horderling outburst is better than rabblemaster in this deck, outburst triggers more things, doesn't force you to attack and helps you to cast stoke the flames out of nowhere, yes rabblemaster is a better topdeck after sweepers, but the question here is... Do we want to play after turn 6?
Great rundown. I've been thinking about swapping out Rabblemaster for hordeling and I think this covinced me. More often than not, Rabble is dead before its second turn and its token is dead immediately. Sure, it soaks up some removal but those 3 tokens might be more efficient. I'm not a fan of Firedrinker Satyr because if the double damage but maybe I should reconsider. I do like War-Name in the main deck, though..
Does anybody here play the minored list mby Raphael Levy? I actually love this list and think it is the bestbest mono red list available to us at this time. Played it a little bit already and it should match up well against everything except mono green devotion like decks.

Ran it over at SCGOAK with 1 card difference in the mainboard and got 32nd place, going 7-3.
I also think it's the best mono red we have available to us, most matches are fine (atleast pre-board), and it's even amazing in the mirror against boss sligh.
I played 2 Jeskai decks, 5 Abzan, 1 Mono Red, 1 G/B Devotion, 1 Mardu Midrange.
Lost to a Jeskai that played MB Brimaz and Magma Spray which was pretty rough but I got generally really unlucky that round also, lost to an Abzan deck that drew most of his SB cards game 3, and lost to G/B devotion which is an obvious terrible matchup.
The Abzan matchup seems pretty good but Caryatid and Courser are a huge problem and it's harder to ignore them than in the sligh deck, as you only have 4 Titan's Stength so it's hard to run through them and they make it hard to get to the endgame where you just burn them out, they also make your Valley Dashers mediocre, although he was good most of the time. The mb Frenzied Goblin I added did some work and im glad I made the change as it won me some games and was never too bad, I also probably would have gotten flooded many times if it was a land. The SB can really be improved though, and im considering Firedrinker in the Main because it gets through Caryatid and sometimes you need more threats.
I found I have more success with those Caryatid/Courser decks by dropping the pumps and go full burn with 4 Harness by Force. Burn them down enough to kill them with whatever bomb they have coming around turn 6 or 7.
If they have courser and caryatids they are going to still be able to block the bombs with those, no w that i think about it, it doesn't look all that bad to side in a mountain just in case you have too many 3drops in... the thing is if the mountain is worth the SB slot.
What's the plan against Abzan Midrange? Is this a good matchup for us?
I feel that it's bad (and half the field were Abzan where I played!). They have too many tools to stop us. Sylvan Caryatid and Courser of Kruphix are usually 4 ofs so we'll see those often. They have removals of all sorts including access to Drown in Sorrow. Sometimes we even see Nyx Fleece Ram sided in. And of course Siege Rhino's!
Its almost like all cards good against us are jammed into this one deck. Thoughts?
So after playing, the Crater's Claw is coming out and staying at 18 mountains. I really want to add Hammerhand back in. Remove the 4x of Akroan Crusader or take out Valley Dasher/War-Name Aspirant? Also thinking of taking out Searing Blood for either Crater's Claw or Arc Lightning... Thoughts?
Alltho, in my testing I find Dragon Mantle being one of the weakest cards, so I might try testing without it soon.
D'wut? Dragon Mantle is probably tied with Hammerhand for the best Heroic/Prowless enabler in the deck.
Also, I haven't been keeping up with the deck like I should have, but don't most lists that have success not bother with Rabblemaster anymore? Especially in addition to Outburst... and especially on 17 lands.

Degenerate? Sure. Loudmouth? You bet. Law abiding? No ****ing way.
I used to feel like Mantle was weak, but after months and months of playing the Sligh version of the deck I cannot be without it. It can trigger two of our creatures (Swiftspear and Crusader) and replaces itself. Also, post turn three it is entirely possible you could be using that firebreathing effect for an extra point a turn.

Made it to day 2.
I can write more, cause i need to sleep
r1 y 2 awarded bye (2-0)
r3 abzan 0-2 (2-1)
r4 BG constellation 2-0 (3-1)

In my opinion, the curve is too heavy. 9 drop 3 and 1 drop 4 (excluding the Stokes, of course)

Good luck on day 2. What version are you running? Boss Sligh or Rabble Red?
