mind sharing your decklist bro? i'm trying to pick up uw heroic again, leaning towards the jeskai version...might try it this fnm just to see how it goes
With only 19 lands you won't go through your deck quickly enough for Digs to matter.
Double blue for Digs, skewing your mana for better Mantle (even though you have only 19 lands) but most spells are white, I think this deck is not focused enough.
I have nonstandard tournaments marathon for a few weeks now.
That is why I haven't had anything to say about Heroic.
Other than that I will play this deck until rotation (or switch to blue devotion if good list comes up).
Hey everyone. Ive veen playing Infect in Modern for quite sometime b ow and I have decided to sleeve up Logan Mize's 2nd place list for the upcoming WMCQs. I really like how it plays out and I'm learning to play it properly. There's just one thing I cant grasp:
Against which decks should I board in Monastery Mentor? It's the SB card that I have not used at all in my testing against decks in today's Standard.
not really sure thouggh, i use the same list but I removed the mentor to be replaced by 2 mastery of unseen or 2 glare of heresy depending on the meta.
I am going to copy that list I gave link for.
Tan is a good player and going 8-1-1 at PT is some good.
He even skipped on Ordeal of Heliod main to have more reliable combo kill, I really like this decision.
With Trailblazer, Seeker and Hoplite we already have excellent blockers against any rush, while Ordeal can put us out of reach (if racing is necessary).
I personally had 2 Seismic Rapture and 2 Dawnbringer Charioteers in the side (make my own Baneslayer minigame) so there was no way to be crushed quickly.
Why Arashin Clerics? If any decks doesn't need them it's ours.

I thought about it against edicts effects and good thing is I just aquired two Walkers.
Not sure if any good for red version but I can see it in bant.
Hangarback Walkers were some good today at Trials. I lost in top4 to Mardu Dragons, 1:2.
I only had 2 in the main and they worked overtime everytime I drew them. Playset needs to be finished.
Ok, so as mentioned Hangarback Walker is being included in the lists that are doing well. They seem good against sacrifice/edict effects. Also the Ordeals work well with them, they crack faster than on a normal (non-heroic) creature, and they add extra counters to the Walker. Dromoka's Command can give them an extra counter too. They also give us some sort of recovery plan after a successful board wipe or removal spell, for getting in those last few points of damage with flying thopters.
Is that it? Have I missed anything about the Walkers in this deck?
I notice that Logan Mize's latest list has 4 Walkers in the sideboard:
I am assuming they come in against anything controlling, such as Abzan or UBx, to help cope with edict effects, board wipes and removal. What do we side out for them, Seeker of the Way and/or Lagonna-Band Trailblazer? Should they be main deck as with other lists?
Hangarback is great in all decks so it should be in our main and we should have some plan for the ones on the other side (Stratus Walk and/or Form should be in the main).
Otherwise Bant Heroic can not punch through.
There is no shortage of edicts at my LGS. There is always, without exception, Mardu Dragons, Esper Dragons or UB Dragons deck in my way, and I can "meet" all kind of edicts (Foul Tongue, C Doom, SI Wound, even Celestial Flare ffs..., only those two different 3/1 edict guys are not played much) for my "amusement". 6 different edict effects in standard, tnx Wizards!
I will test your list since I like Dragon Mantle (or cantrips in general) since there is WMCQ this Sunday and I am thinking about going to that or the beach (don't care about this standard too much, can't wait to see what new Merfolk awaits in Zendikar). The thing about bant is that gw Command is so well positioned (Tutelage, Ensoul...), but so is Battle Rage.
It's a good point that Hangarback Walker doesn't help with Self-Inflicted Wound. I'm not really that enthusiastic about the Walkers in heroic, at least in a fast version of the deck.
I stopped playing heroic, but then I started running into Red Aggro and GR Devotion everywhere, and much less UBx control. I really like Logan Mize's UW build with 4 main Ordeal of Heliod. Seems very good against Red Aggro, especially with a turn 1 Loganna-band Trailblazer into turn 2 Ordeal. We will see how it goes!
@Ultra_Magnus: Infect for Modern and Logan's Mize's UW Heroic.... LOL we're playing the same decks hahaha
Anyhoo; I've been farming FNMs the past 3 weeks with Logan Mize's list (w/o Hangarback Walkers); the only deck I am afraid to face is Abzan Rally since I had a bad experience with it and didn't have any cards to answer their sacrifice creatures. I couldn't find the Dromoka's Commands I needed to upgrade to Bant Heroic, but I think I should be fine. I'll be playing UW Heroic this weekend's WMCQ. Lots of people here play Mono Red; Ensoul and GR Devotion so I guess it's well-positioned.
I've been thinking about Raymond Tan's Rage Heroic list from the PT as well. (Maybe it's fate that I opened 3 Battlefield Forges from MTG Origins haha XD); I have two questions about it though:
1. How would you use Center Soul effectively? Is it good for the deck compared to other Heroic versions? :/
2. Is the Encase in Ice really necessary or just a metagame call? I want to squeeze a few more cards I liked from Logan Mize's list. :))
U/W or Bant? Which is better in a meta that's littered with aggro decks and the occasional control deck and most recently G/W enchantments (1-2 guys on this G/W, I'm not guaranteed to play it every week)?
I don't have the fourth mana confluence yet. The Ordeal of Heliods in the bant list are there to adjust to all the aggro I see every Friday, although I'm thinking about going down to 2 to fit the 22nd land. What do you think?
My deck choices are not so stupid right now.

Bant also made a t8 appearance in scgindy
