You've waited patiently artome, so I will just post what I threw together in hopes that I won't get booed out of this thread.

This is the list I was testing last night. There are a lot of factors that are undecided about it. Like I want another 3-4 mana beater. I was thinking either ashcloud phoenix or thunderbreak regent. I won a game against mardu dragons and lost by a hair to RDW. That's all I've tested so far though. I'm not in love with battle brawler or war-name aspirant they are just kind of place holders for right now.



I'm seriously considering adding Brimaz, but then it would be really hard to consistently play flamewake phoenix, which puts in serious work. Let me know what suggestions you guys have for the direction of this deck.

now that Bant Heroic just won an SCG open I think it's time to sleeve up the ole' mardu deck. I'm not going dragons this time though.
Sideboard still up in the air. Probably transition to midrange/control against creature decks. I definitely want 2-3 anger of the gods with all the den protectors and raptors running around.

went 5-0 at FNM with this Mardu Control list I threw together 2 hours beforehand;

2 Mastery of the Unseen

After playing crackling doom was always good, I would drop -1 end hostilities and +1 anger of the gods.
Not crazy about the 3 Soulfire Grand Master but this deck needs life gain in a bad way with painlands, 4 thoughtseize and 3-4 read the bones post-board.

i like lightning strike/draconic roar a ton with all of these raptor/den protector/fleecemanes running around. i feel like not including them makes you weak to that deck which is gaining huge popularity.

You are paying a total cost of 4 to accomplish essentially what Tormod's Crypt does, but only you draw a card and they still have access to the cards in their deck (that get shuffled through with a fetch land). So your thought isn't wrong but a wrong card choice IMO if that's what you are trying to do.

My first look is how the second haven affects the land. Maybe move 1 to the side and up temple to 4. I dont know about mastery in the side and might like something else there. The list is great overall.

My main question is how does the dragonlord play against megamorph. I would think that it hurts the style of the deck, but dmr does dodge it.

I would consider sorin x2 somewhere in the 75. He works so well with regent. He works wonders in abzan so why not for us?

Is it really better to go Mardu or just B/R?

I would say mardu. R/W was a thing and B/R is trying to make it to t1, but doom is amazing (most underrated card). Seeker is still strong and grandmaster does require a removal spell or it will give card advantage. It does wonders for the sideboard as well.

I'm still debating if adding white for seeker, grand master and crackling doom is worth risking a less stable mana base (compared to B/R).

Dragonlord Ojutai (and Silumgar, the Drifting Death to a lesser extent) is such a problem for many decks that people are going out of their way to play things like Foul-Tongue Invocation in the side with zero dragons in their deck. Being able to neatly take care of that card and shocking them for your trouble is quite worth the splash by itself. Even outside of the Esper match-up, it can ruin a game for a lot of decks. A good example would be the Bant Midrange vs Mardu Midrange feature match from the Portland Open. Turn 3 Dragonlord Ojutai on the play, answered by Crackling Doom. Bant untaps, slams another one, which then also eats a Crackling Doom. Any other deck would just be DOA in that situation.

Does anyone have the second mardu deck that was playing against brad? Just wondering on the differences.

Been working on a Mardu deck and would value some opinions! I think Roast is on it's way out... Maybe another Anger and Crux of Fate?

I'm not sure I'd play Mardu dragons without Thoughtseize.

I'm wondering what people think about the manabase?

I really don't like Rabblemaster and I'd rather play Brimaz, however, can we actually cast Brimaz? Should it just be flamewake phoenix instead?

I smoothed out the mana base a little and it's been consistent. -1 Triumph and +1 Temple of Silence. Meeting RR later on is skewed because of the Havens, which cover. The Silence gives me another option to hit WW or BB.

After playing at a TNM tonight, went 2-2. Won vs. GW Aggro and Reanimator, Lost vs. Mirror and GW Manifest (with Den/Deathmist). I feel like it needs a little more gas, so I'm trying to up the creature count a little. Thoughts on this?

You can correct me if I am wrong, but I think that double white needs 18 sources for turn 3 brimaz, with 14 sources it will be very light. I like the younger Kolaghan over the Dragonlord. I would take murderous cut over the price. Side I would like another anger as morph is on the rise.

My overall question for Mardu is how does everyone feel about the 3 drop slot? Rabble, Brimaz, Flamewake or something else?

Can we fit 2 Sorin in similar to most Abzan decks? If so, what 3 drop works best with him?

I've had no issues casting double white when I've had Brimaz (so far).

Based on tourney trends, players have been trying seeker/rabble packages with soulfire and dragons. I have been testing butcher of the horde with a mardu charm package. It looks great so far. My list is currently based off the gp Toronto list.

The deck is very good overall against this meta (the mardu dragons list). The list is a little weak against planeswalkers so I play 2 utter end, 1 main and 1 sideboard, it's easier on the mana than hero's downfall.

The more games I play with this deck the more I dislike seeker of the way. Any suggestions for replacement? I'm thinking more kolaghan's command.

This looks very much like what I am testing right now. I made room for 2 sorin in the main. I have also found that the archfeind in the side is great for those going wide, only 1 at the moment, but I can see 2. I also like chandra over the outpost just to not get 2 for 1 by command.

I'm thinking of cutting the 2 havens for a temple of malice and a mana confluence (or 2 confluences). I notice that I lose quite a few games to mana screw. I'd add 1 or 2 kolaghan's command to recycle the dragons.

It feels that Foul-Tongue clogs up the 3cmc curve of the deck..with 4 dooms the sac effects is prety much covered i think...for sure the gian 4 life from tongue is very handy against Red decks...but the deck also have soulfire + burn as well...i've decided to move them to the board..

Also i've been thinking about some sort of card advantage engine, such as Chandra or Outpost Siege, any thoughts on that?

Outpost is better than chandra if you dont plan on seeing any commands. In this metta it looks like chandra is the better pick. This the same reason that green is not playing courser as much.

yeap...feel the same way...but is realy worth the 2 slots for it on main board?
