This deck is remarkably fast, meaning it gets its damage in far quicker than the midrange and control decks we're seeing a lot of recently. The God's Willing and Brave The Elements act like extra hexproof effects, but that can also make a creature evasive for a large hit. Gladecover and Hero of Iroas are all-stars. Third turn, strapping a madcap, alpha skills and ethereal armor to a Hero of Iroas is just insane. I strongly recommend testing this build.
EDIT: I listed "Battlewise Hoplite" earlier. I meant that to be "Favored Hoplite."
@MagaLord: You list does look fun and fast, the only issue is that the meta is filled with instant speed removal thus banking on cards like Battlewise and Hero isn't where you want to be... (though you'll most likely just slaughter removal light builds).
The removal in the format is pretty slow though (the most prevalent spell costs three mana!), and if you've got Hero out, you can hook him up to Alpha Authority while protecting the play with God's Willing/Brave the Elements/Boros Charm. What's more, this build is so fast that you really only need to protect him for a turn or two to secure a victory. I've had Hero swing for 14 evasive damage on turn three a number of times already.
You should give the list a shot, because I think it's bloody competitive. Yes, I am a little less thrilled with Hoplite, but try Hero out in particular--he's absolute madness.
My experience as a 1900+ rated players sitting at in top50 of the player of the year race suggest otherwise...
Shock, Blight Bile, Ultimate Price, Doom Blade, Abrupt Decay, Last Breath, Lightning Strike, Rapid Hybridization, Cyclonic Rift a few others + a ton of sorc speed removals would make Hoplite, Dryad and Hero slightly less optimal in build with limited creatures trying to maximize auras for the win.
That said it seem fine if your meta gaming against FNM where HDF is the only prevalent removal, your build does have some advantages which other Aura builds do not but it comes at a cost.

You don't need 4x Mizzium Mortars but against Grx or Uxx it certainly helps - I'll never cut Chains because its not only great vs aggro its also huge game vs Bx.
In regards to Ghor-Clan Rampager, he is fantastic but he competes with Ajani, Caller of the Pride - both cards can just suddenly win you the game.
Ajani has more staying power which is good vs enchantment hate, while Rampager is a threat against removal lite decks like control (not saying one is better then the other so just pick your poison)
For Mending touch, its great vs sweepers sure, but it does nothing on its own (unlike Boros Charm) 2x is the correct number imo.
Hey guys I am brewing a Naya Hexproof list with a buddy of mine and was hoping I could get some criticism and input on certain choices. Here's my current list:
I haven't even been able to playtest it yet unfortunately, but I have some concerns based on my local meta.
1. Dealing with sacrifice effects. I've moved Fleecemane back to the maybeboard to find room for Voice of Resurgence as this not only provides persistent sacrifice bait but also makes our opponent reconsider a Celestial Flare or Devour Flesh on our turn. My question is, will Voice provide enough sacrifice bait on its own? I know Selesnya Charm can drop a creature for us to sacrifice at instant speed but I am only running 2x Selesnya Charm in the MB. Do I need Boon Satyrs or Skylashers in the MB too? FYI, MUD is not heavily played at my local meta.
2. Supreme Verdict and other sweepers. Are 4 Boros Charms and 2 Mending Touch enough to save our creature from global destroy effects?
Finally, I'd really like to find a way to include Fleecemane in the MB again. I am very familiar with playing Selesnya aggro and I am quite fond of Fleecemane- open to any suggestions.
@Rev: They Die to Removal so I wouldn't recommend them.
@tnas: Your MD is good, your SB is odd.... 6x anti-sweeper hate is enough, unless Ux Devotion doesn't see play I'll run 4x Skylasher in the SB - I'll also run at least 2x Fiendslayers somewhere in the 75 for Bx Devotion.
Lack of attention from my team which turned the deck into a one-man job (what did I expect considered my team is filled with red mages) and from the forums, I think Hexproof is fun so I'll jump on it time-to-time when I'm free (I'll be busy for the next 3-weeks thus I'll just work on the teams project: Rw Burn (Zem version)).
I'm quite interested in the Ghor-Clan Rampager brews, even though I dismissed it early on - reflecting on it now, I like the possibility it can produced against Control and also all the random upsets you can produce with the 8 possible instance speed ways to grant trample).
This is noticably improved with the recently spoiled cards. Early playtesting shows more consistency and speed.
Replace 4 of your lands with 4 mana confluence
Add 4 Bassara
Replace chained to the rocks with Oppressive rays (this is my preference due to not needing a mountain in order to cast oppressive rays)
I would also drop 2 witchstalkers. I think 10 is enough hexproofs.
Use elvish mystic x4, boros charm x4 and ghor-clan x3. Add selesnya charms and fill out the rest as you like.
I've been having good success in testing with this Naya hexproof beatdown list. I was able to kill a R/B aggro deck on turn 3 last night in a test game.
Is this deck competitive? I am thinking about taking something similar to this last build (tower archer, Eidolon of countless battles, rampager) to the GP in Chicago.
