Alright Ive been waiting to see some good mono-color decks and dont really see many to choose from in these forums, Other than Mono red... Maybe that's because you gain access to so many options simply by adding a color... However I think Mono Green offers a very strong answer to both aggro as well as control decks in this current standard format.. As not only does it have the speed to maintain pace against aggro, it has the size to win the fights.. Lets look at some of the cards to choose from
is still one of the best one drops in the game currently, and in this deck it actually evolves to 25 different creatures... Making the Experiment One a major threat
First off this deck runs a total of seven 5/5's for four mana, making it a major early threat with a possible appearance on turn 3... Now the Polukranos, World Eater with the Bow of Nylea gives this deck a semi-sweeper effect. Once you have the combo on the field you declare attack with Polukranos, World Eater witch will activate the deathtouch from the Bow of Nylea at that point you activate monstrosity with the worldeater dividing X damage as you see fit to as many of your opponents creatures as you can, in turn becoming a semi-sweeper of sorts
Seems like a bad version of green white.
In green white you just gain so many powerful tools you get fleecemane lion voice of resurgenceloxodon smiter and advent of the wurm
I feel like your deck will just be generally worse then that deck short of getting the occasionally board wipe off of Deathtouch and polkuranos

I understand what you are saying.... But I feel like I can match GW in the speed game and win the power game against all their creatures with the exception of an advent token..... even a monstrous fleecemane isn't much of a threat against any of six 5/5's in the deck
We'll just have to play test it in order to see if it will survive. Turn 4/5 is going to be one of the stress points. Will your Kalonian Hydra survive to attack? Will you be able to drop Nylea the following turn to give your other creatures trample??
Green/White is a stick in the mud. Then again, so is esper control and most of the red decks. We'll find some balance and hopefully have a diverse showing at FNM and PTQs...and whatever.
My only real advice for now is side board junk. I'm a fan of the new green enc/art removal...Fade into Antiquity because it will exile any gods if they show up, along with all other enchantments/artifacts. Since Green lacks removal (other than the hydra), I also like Time to Feed in order to remove them Lions or Smiters before they can attack. We'll see though...

Thanks for the advice... I actually forgot about both of the cards you suggested... I appreciate it
arbor colossus is probably one of the best green creatures you can be playing right now. Possibly even better than kalonian hydra IMO.
I do like the Arbor Colossus... Just not better than the Kalonian Hydra in this deck... Simply due to the fact that if the hydra gets to attack then it doubles the counters on all creatures... Experiment One, World Eater, Scavenged Goliath, counters from the bow... Mistcutter...etc.

Very valid points. Still, why not just run both and lean harder on the shrine? With stuff like kalonian tusker, your plethora of 1 drops, bow, etc. I figure the shrine would be your best ramp option.
On the note of 1 drops, I gotta believe there's a better option than gladecover scout. Dryad militant comes to mind right away as an option that evolves experiment one. It would be different if you had more ways to pump the scout, but with just boon and bow, there's not a lot of options. There's the option to scavenge the goliath onto him later, but by the time you can do that the scout has been outclassed by a pretty wide margin I believe.

Big thanks to DarkNightCavalier from heroes of the planes studios for the sig!
My current version of MonoG. Just tested against a GW deck. Fleecemane Lion can usually be blocked by any of your big fatties, or a surprise Boon Satyr before it monsters out. Nylea, God of the Hunt is a HOUSE against those Advent tokens. Arbor Colossus has moved from sideboard into mainboard for all the Thune/Stormbreath runnin around. Experiment One can also evolve off of ANY of the creatures cast (except Elvish Mystic of course.)
The only slots I am not sure on are the Garruk, Caller of Beasts and Skylasher. The Skylasher was great out of sideboard last rotation, and probably will be decent in this one, but the only real scary blue threat is Aetherling. Garruk, Caller of Beasts was a suboptimal replacement in this style of deck for Primal Hunter, but he can still help in the control matchups.

Ok you are actually the second person to suggest that the Scouts should go... So as opposed to the Dryad's should I just go up to 4 copies of any other cards in my deck or can you think of a spell thats good enough for the main?

I would like to see you up the counts on your cards to 4's. I am a big fan of the rule of 9 when it comes to mono color decks. Adds so much consistency. 9 4ofs and 24 lands. But sometimes thats not always a good idea when we are running legendary cards.
Kalonian Tusker is one of my pet cards that I cannot seem to get working right. Its a much worse Fleecemane. As good as stompy is, he just doesnt have much more impact. No ETB abilities and dies to almost all removal in the format. He does block like a house though. Witchstalker, oh how I wish you were better. Havent tried him yet since rotation, but honestly I dont know if we need him. Maybe sideboard tech. Between those cards, I honestly would rather see Stalker mainboard.
Another suggestion would be upping your landcount or running another mana dork, like the Sylvan Caryatid. That card is too awesome even in monoG. Blocks all early game threats, serves to drop a fatty early.

I really like your deck.... we arent very far apart from each other.... and have you tested against anything else? Why havent you considered Mistcutter for the side
I have tested this deck actually quite a bit, this is its third incarnation. I used to run Mistcutter mainboard. I like the card, really do. Just after awhile, I would rather spend the mana on something that brings a bigger impact. That hydra belongs in a Red Deck. Almost seems like a blockable burn spell. He only adds 1 devotion, which I would like more out of when I am casting a bigger spell. He left the mainboard when Arbor Colossus came in. Skylasher is a better blue hoser in my opinion as it comes in with flash and has reach.
Going against Red decks, you can usually last the first few hits, or block with Caryatid. Once you hit turn 4 and something massive drops down that they cant burn away it starts tipping into your favor. Most other aggro decks tend to go the same direction. Havent tested this version against any hard Control decks. Just like any other creature deck it will get set back from the Verdict, but hopefully we can get a Garruk/Primeval Bounty online to make it easier. Targetted removal is a pain though, thats why relying on Kalonian as your only threat isn't the greatest idea. Arbor still smashes for 6, flashing Satyr in is great. ScOoze is another great tool to use as well, as he will grow from your guys dying to almost every deck out there. The great thing about running more consistent numbers is when you do have guys die, you have an easier time drawing into another one. And of course, with MonoG specifically we have the luxury of not having to DoomBlade/Burn everything on the board, as we will get bigger than them quick. Arbor Colossus / Polu are enough to get rid of the things that will give you the biggest headaches around.
Maybe trim down your sideboard of either Garruk or Bounty, along with one skylasher (or the plumments) and replace them with Ranger's Guile. of course, it will put you one turn behind on dropping your Hydra so you have that one mana for protection. With 4 Arbor Colossus, flyers shouldn't eat too much Skylasher vs Mistcutter for side board. Doesn't block flyers, but it does have haste (for them control match ups).
Are playing the gods too slow? Thinking -1 bow, +1 goddess so everybody has trample. Will have to assemble the deck and play some.
Watching SCG coverage, control is running rampant. Couple guys in my FNM pool love control, but we're drafting this coming friday...again...

Im thinking that the count of 3 bows and 3 gods is perfect.. 4 gods can just clutter your hand too easy... Not to mention that the bow with world eater is too good to pass up.... If you notice in my SB I actually have both Skylasher and Mistcutter in my SB.... though I do need to work in Garruk for the SB
Here is my take... if you are going to be stompy, be stompy. As great as Sylvan Caryatid is, it cannot attack. You need to be able to apply pressure right off the bat while you gather your resources to cast the larger creatures. Once Nylea, God of the Hunt is in play, your smaller creatures become much more threatening. Boon Satyr is very versatile for this as well. It can serve as your 3 drop or be saved as a creature aura for one of your early drops. I played around with Bow of Nylea and just don't like it. I found I would rather have another creature, especially against high removal decks. Also, once Nylea, God of the Hunt is on the board, the deathtouch isn't necessary. The Bow's abilities are versatile, but all mediocre. Maybe it is a good sideboard card.
I am also shocked that your decklist does not have Reverent Hunter. Arbor Colossus is nice and has the best bang for its casting cost on its face value, but Reverent Hunter has incredible potential while costing less... and it has synergy with Kalonian Hydra.
I have had good success in limited playtesting, but I am not sold on the slivers yet, and I would like a bit more of a mana ramp. I have seen a couple decklists that have Burning-Tree Emissary, but there are not many cards to pair with them on a 2 drop. They have more synergy with Nykthos and Reverent Hunter though. I might go with 20 Forest and 3 Emissaries instead of the slivers and see how that goes.

After testing I now realize that the Arbor Colossus does deserve a spot in the deck possibly as a 3 of even.... And as far as the reverent hunter goes Im going to do more testing with it....

I would take Gyre Sage over BTE or the sliver for this list.

Yep. I have that down to test as well. With two Nykthos, four Reverent Hunter and three Nylea Gods, I need to figure out if the early higher devotion is more important than potential mana the sages can produce and the size they can potentially get. Since green has few removal options, Nylea's Disciple may be needed on the sideboard again RDW, white weenie, Boros weenie or mirror. That would give an edge to the emissaries

This deck is pretty much a rogue deck right now.... Nobody is giving it a chance or even a thought... With that being said Im not sure you need to have sideboard options against the Mirror match..... But let us know how that G.Sage works out
