I wonder, what do you think about the new cards released in Nyx? Do you think there is a chance for bestow to shine?
I consider black&white to be the best colors for bestow, since they have Orzhov Charm, which is just an awesome toolbox that can prevent the famous 2-for-1 trades. Also, Athreos, God of Passage seems to be something for a w/b aggro bestow deck to work better. This means, they have to eat a bolt or let your weenies come back to hand, and not only that, if they are bestowed, you still have creatures on the field, so they have to deal with that too, and the fact you can bestow them again, or keep losing life.
Gnarled Scarhide is a great t1 drop, with the added to have bestow, working very well with Hero of Iroas. Also Underworld Coinsmith works well with all those enchantment creatures, Ethereal Armor and now Banishing Light. Topdecking this guy is not half bad, since you can use all your mana excess to drain your opponent's life, which makes the archetype more viable in my opinion.
I will testing this out, posted my decklist on the heroics thread: I would like to read from you if you consider this archetype can become something more than a Tier2.
I've been running this deck for a while with an actual large amount of success.
This deck has a lot of tools to be a successful aggro deck, but its main problem is simply that it has trouble against MonoBlack, which is actually a pretty huge issue.
I hate to necro this thread but it is the most similar so far to a deck I have been running. I play in the tournament practice threads on MTGO with it a lot and find there are no matches where I simply feel like I have no chance of winning. I feel confident in my ability to win each time with only random card variance (not drawing 1 of 6 removal spells, mana hosed in a deck w/ 23 lands and a 4cmc curve, opponent nut draw/better starting hands, poor mulligan decisions) is the only real contributing factor in each loss. That said I'm not claiming this is the most competitive deck out there because it is really easy to hate out. Here is my list:
I know when you see cards like Celestial Archon and Rogue's Passage you are going to write the deck off immediately but I've actually found the Rogue's Passage to be extremely useful. The way I play I to Voltron together a dude, usually Hero of Iroas, and hold onto Gods Willing until my opponent tries to use removal on him. I do that and keep swinging until I get into alpha range. At that, usually about the time I hit my fifth mana, I need to find a way to push damage through either by Gods Willing to be unblockable, Herald of Torment for flying, removal to kill relevant blockers, or Rogue's Passage to just push that last attack through. I usually hold Rogue's Passage until I have no other lands to play that way the opponent can't really plan for it. Then I just drop it as my fifth mana and call it game.
I've never actually played the Celestial Archon. He's never really been necessary so he could be replaced with pretty literally anything else. I removed Gift of Orvhova for him because I usually want to be playing foods instead of just buffs. At least with Bestow you get your guys back and the deck has a number of ways of granting them enough evasion to try and get through even a huge wall of opposing creatures.
I used to use Gnarled Scarhide. Unless you have Godless Shrine AND Caves of Kolios in the deck its really not worth it. With Temples or other "Comes into play tapped lands" and trying to balance needing white by turn 2 for literally everything in the deck plus also getting a fast enough start to not be outclassed to fast, he just didn't work, not with 8 other white 1 drops, every single 2 drop requires white mana. Ethereal Armor requires white and a creature meaning it is essentially a 2 drop. If you have WB on turn 2 then you can cast Ethereal Armor and another Gnarled Scarhide, Hero, or Coinsmith. If you have W turn 1 you can drop Nyxborn or Hopeful. If you have WW turn 2 you can drop Ethereal Armor and another Nyxborn, Hopeful, or Hero. WW leads to far more powerful plays than WB. I gave up on Gnarled Scarhide, he was just too awkward.

This is an old thread and wasn't really correct for this section to begin with. If you're posting a two-color decklist with no dual-lands, that's a pretty good sign that it belongs in the Budget Forum and not the Competitive section. Also, the Tournament Practice area of MTGO is not competitive -- the level of play there is just not comparable to the paid tournaments. Locking this thread.
