Ok even though I have been playing different decks since BNG was released I have been watching the development of black decks in general. Now we have both BW and BR devotion and midrange decks top 8ing consistently. So my question is it worth once again trying to fuse the two archetypes into a Dega build? I know there have been past attempts to make this archetype but now that both black midrange archetypes are established I wonder what meshing the two together would look like. Mana would be an issue but BR seems to have found a small solution with Rakdos keyrune which is surprisingly effective in the slower matchups. Good draw and removal and of course the Bombs and walkers. So would it be worth it?
For me it's a No. The best BW decks are still Black Control builds that wants to play Baron and Elspeth. I don't now much about BR Midrange and Devotion, but the decks I'm seeing from that color combo are very fast aggro decks with Exava and Morgis as bombs. They can both have the same cards but they have completely different methods of winning. Maybe it's possible for BW/r that is leaning on control or a BR/w that is leaning on aggro, but I don't think the three colors would mesh well together for now (maybe when the third set arrives). Kudos to the guy who can make it happen.

Going back to Europe Tonight. will say goodbye to you all.
There have been a particular BR midrange/control that have been catching on with the pros. Multiple pros have written about, tested and actually felt confident enough to run in Opens. I don't think the concept is too difficult, it's just we have to try not to build another black devotion build and focus on cards worth the splash in the two colors. I'd probably start with say, Elspeth, Baron and Obzedat in white, and Rakdos return, Dreadbore, Mizzium Mortars and maybe even Stormbreath Dragon. Patrick Chapin has been fooling around with this concept for a while and have a few test decks on Premium. He's also done a few articles on it but haven't quite nailed it yet. I was wondering if anyone had an idea what cards in this archetype would be the most important considering the meta and manabase.
Guess that would make the archetype too powerful. I did come up with a sample decklist and am probably going back to run this archetype in a few tourneys to see how well it performs. So far the deck starts out feeling controllish in the first three turns, although there were a few runs where turn 4 Blood Baron or Obzedat hit (thanks to keyrune). The lands only causes problems for me if I don't sequence my plays properly otherwise it runs very cleanly.
The problem...the mana is always wrong >.<
Plus BR decks seem to be better off aggro than midrange/controlish, BW is definitely a legit deck though
