What decks did everyone see become successful last night, 2/7/14, at FNM? I'm interested to hear what decks came out on top and what new cards made the difference (or were surprisingly terrible).
Although my LGS's FNMs are "cozy-sized," we had a decent look at the new Standard. There was a healthy dose of Mono-Black (or unhealthy, depending on your perspective) with the expected Drown in Sorrows and Bile Blights. One of the Mono-B players swears by Herald of Torment as opposed to Nightveil Specter now. There was an interesting deck that went undefeated though: White Weenie with a red splash--it ran one or two Assemble the Legion maindeck, which seemed really good.
That's about all I got from the first BNG FNM. Please share your experiences from last night, including specific decks and cards.
Mono Red that used Whims of the Fates and Satyr Firedancer nearly beat me in the two duels I had with it. Very close duels. Very lucky to go 2-0 against it.
Went 4-0 with B/W Midrange. I personally don't think there's any deck that can touch this deck's power. Oddly enough the only other 4-0 was another B/W midrange. Such a fun deck to play!
I went 6-0 with White weenies splashing black for Xathrid Necromancer, Orzhov Charm, and Cartel Aristocrat. Between Precinct Captain and Brimaz I figured I would have enough tokens to make the aristocrat worth a shot. The field was a lot of mono black, UWx variants, Monsters, and red devotion eith a few sweet Bant and Naya lists.
Played G/R Midrange. Got beat by MBD twice and U/W control twice. Was really hoping this deck had the balls I was looking for, but the removal was just too strong. Might go back to Colossal Gruul... I liked making oodles and boodles of mana.
I went undefeated with Selesnya aggro, beating mostly MBD, GR Monster and Revelation decks. On the last round I beat the only other undefeated guy -> another Selesnya player.
I'm currently in Korea so yeh it's a bit......weird

I plowed through two GW builds with a Red Devotion splash black build last Friday. Lost to a mono-black aggro build with Herald and Gray Merchant at the top of the curve.

One of these day I have to get myself organizized.
Interesting how so many people went undefeated, especially using so many different decks. How many people played in an FNM with more than 20 non-budgeted players? Which decks were doing well against/among MBD, MUD, UW control, and RG monsters?
I know many FNMs have lots of people playing teir two or budget decks, so what decks were doing well in the FNMs that more closely resemble a tournaments scene?

Was normal here. MBD and U/W/x rolling all over. The final 4 at store 1 were three MBD and 1 Esper. Final 4 at store 2 was even between both.
'Fun!'
