So, this is the deck list i want to run for the next few months as it is cheap fast and easy.
I made only slight changes to the lands, and added a sideboard that i felt was appropriate, but neither are great options.
for lands it could easily be said that having a playset of game trails and cinder glades would be ideal, I just need to watch my funds for now, so i would prefer to stay away from them as they are 5$ a piece, puts the build well over 25$ for a playset of both.
Struggled with if i should run a vista and a marsh for the radiant flames to clear the board.
Westvale abbeys could be useful if I play with zada, but i'll have to get a few pieces for that, mostly commons and uncommons however.
Sideboard wasn't real easy choices, but since it was so low on removal i felt that was probably the best option to add.
I wanted roast for khalitas and clip wings for avacyn, fiery impulse is a great option for the zada build as i will be adding more spells anyway.
Finally i put in 3 bushwhackers and a dragonlord for alternative creatures, maybe another creature to replace impulse would be great there.
Some people i have talked to have suggested putting bushwhackers in the mainboard since it can grant haste to a team for just R if the recruiter is out and flipped, which may not be so hard with the bandits flipped form that can bring in wolfs already transformed.
As for cards that should be changed, nothing out of dragons/origins would be preferable and not over 10$ unless it is something like arlinn that directly ties into what the deck wants to focus on. so that rules out atarkas command regardless of how good it is. A higher end with a few game ending creatures might be nice too just so that there is a way to stop decks running sweepers and board clears which is the main concern i have in terms of playing it at fnm. ulrich's kindred looks like it might fit in the deck and give decent protection.
Have you thought about Silverfur Partisan with Zada and combat tricks? You'll be able to build an army pretty quickly and not have to over commit to the board against sweepers. Plus, with the right combo trick, your creatures may even survive some of the damage based wipes.
Yes. Have most definitely considered zada.
The only problem with that build is the ones i have seen run 2 copies of oath nissa. I think she is about 20$ and i would be most interested in getting arlinns first. But may get both along with lands anyways.
Would putting the bushwhackers in mainboard be a good idea and over which card if this is something i should do? i think i could ger him to trigger alot of the time and possibly for reduced cost. Just no idea how to chang sideboard after that.
It's a double edged sword with Bushwhacker. Haste is only relevant on creatures you just played, in which case bushwhacker would be the second spell you play flipping your werewolves back.
Just because other decks run Oath doesn't mean you have to. The green vessel may actually be better for werewolves in that sense because activating it doesn't trigger your spell count.
I have a pretty similar list that I put together for almost no money on MTGO. I initially used Ulrich's Kindred but they underperformed... I cut them for more combat tricks. In particular, Uncaged Fury has stolen wins for me. I also have a random one-of Goldnight castigator that has actually been pretty good at getting the last few damage in over a stalled board. I'll post a list soon. Would love to hear how this goes for you.
Edited to add decklist. I think I'm going to cut the Titan's Strengths and Silverfur Partisan for three more Breakneck Riders. I'm not in love with the double red cost, but I need more guys who are just solid beaters. I think Neglected Heirloom is an easy 4-of; even in multiples it's great.
My sideboard right now is sort of just a mess of stuff I had from the intro-pack and drafts. Planning on thinking a bit more about it and shoring it up. Some radiant flames would definitely be good.
I've had pretty decent success with the deck in the Tournament Practice lobby of MTGO; I'm 2 and 2 in matches, but never felt like I didn't have a chance, and took at least one game each match. How has this been working for the rest of you guys?
