Hello guys! I've been marduing over the last few weeks, but it was lacking good results, due to mana problems, so I decided to switch to B/W "warriors", which wouldn't allow me to keep my burn spell, but would let me have an easier time with land management. Took this deck to a local FNM with 12 people, went 2-0 against Mardu tokens, 1-2 jeskai tokens and 2-1 against U/G ramp, so I'd appreciate any comments about how to improve it(or the sideboard, that is not ready yet, haha).
Main issue here is limited budget. Expensive cards like Sorin, solem visitor, Liliana Vess and Caves of Koilos were drafted from boosters, not bought directly, so although I know that Thoughtseize, Wingmate Roc or another Sorin would be a great help, I can't afford those. Sorry for the difficult task that I'm asking for, but I'm counting on you guys : )
The warrior synergy is pretty paper thin. No reason to hold to it imo. Defiant strike is bad when not triggering heroic or being used for some purpose like a strict cantrip. The deck feels like it is going in two weird directions. In one sense you have warrior tribal. Then you have raise the alarm. Imo, straight mono black aggro is more efficient because you actually have evasion. The warrior package held tightly is lacking in that department and raise the alarm feels like it is only to support seeker while being fine with sorin. Thing is that seeker itself feels somewhat forced in this list, causing you to play far fewer creatures than you normally would.
Also, Ruthless Ripper while a neat combat trick, costs 3 and a reveal of a black spell in your hand to flip her. May as well run either Pharika's Chosen or Typhoid Rats over her, as he only costs 1, and pulls off most of the same stuff. Game 1 they may not expect you to flip Ruthless Ripper but once they see what you're running, they will get rid of her fast (or just chump block her to destroy something weak).
Replacements, in my opinion, if you do enjoy forcing them to lose life, are either Spiteful Returned, which can be attached to one of your other creatures as an Aura, or even Leeching Sliver. Both of them hit when they attack. Spiteful Returned is much better though.
Brave the Sands is okay. But, Ruthless Ripper is the only one you'd want to double block with. While you could block with Bloodsoaked Champion and then bring him back on turn 3 or 4, it's just a trick. Honestly, if you like that kind of trick, you should add in some Boon of Erebos, which not only gives your targeted guy +2/+0, but also regenerates him/her. This is especially fun on Tormented Hero as that way you only lose 1 life for a regeneration effect, and a slight pump.
While Sorin, Solemn Visitor is a great planeswalker, I agree with the above, that possibly this would work better as a mono black shell. With that, you would not have to worry about painlands, nor weaker CIPT lands, and could just run plain old Swamps. You'd lose your Seeker of the Way and your Chief of the Edge, but as stated, this appears to be a combination of both types of decks and really won't flow well the way it is.
I don't really like molting snakeskin in the mono black build as I think it is a bit narrow and unnecessary. I'd prefer another creature. Something sorta like this.
The last 2 cards can be shifted to fit whatever you might need. Say, stain the mind for getting rid of some annoyances. Crippling blight if you need to push past...
SB should be playing dark betrayal, despise, and pharika's cure at least.
