This thread was created to gather together budget players in the hopes of forming a digital playgroup. The idea is to have fun and play Magic while not spending a fortune on the latest decks. Hopefully, by doing this not only do we have fun, but we become better players and maybe even make a few friends along the way.
Currently, meetups will be on Wednesday from 6:00-9:00pm. Please post your handle to join.
If we get enough players there will be an unofficial "just for fun" league of sorts. More on that to Come.

I'd be very much interested as i have just begun using mtgo (and already slightly pissed at it.) But would enjoy a new outlet for fun with a budget league.
I am trying to put together a budget deck as we speak.

Sorry i havnt been on in a couple days (new job/house) but im happy to see at least a few people wanna do this. Im thinking we could try for a week night to all get on and play. my schedule is alittle wonky right now but I would like to try for monday or wednesday nights between 6 and 9 eastern time? for the time being we can all just log on and jam out some games with whatever decks we wanna bring. if we can 8-10 people to commit to some sort of league structure i think that would be a lot of fun as well. how does that sound for everybody? feel free to pitch ideas!
also this the website i mentioned earlier with the online deck pricing:
I wanna try option 2 as well. Im hoping to get at least a few people playing on wednesday night and see how that goes. If it seems like its working then we can get more organized.
1. Updated the thread title since there seems to be at least five or six players at least interested in joining at the moment.
2. Began to add screen names of players who have shared them. Please post/PM your screen name or let us know its the same as on MTGS.
3. Tentatively, Wednesday night 6:00pm-9:00pm will be our weekly jam session. I picked Wednesday since MTGO FNM is Thursday and Paper FNM is Friday. This may change if the scheduled downtime becomes too much of an issue, or there is enough people vote for a different night.
I'm interested, but can't come out on Wednesday's every week guaranteed, most likely it will be sporadic. Also I would like the answers to Gilean's questions.
welcome! the times i posted are Eastern, so adjust accordingly. hopefully its not too much of an issue.
As of right now, I would like to at least have two weeks of just getting people logged on and playing/ getting to know each other, and getting used to the client if they havnt already.
in regards to the budget, right now there isn't any defined number. I personally dont like to invest heavily in in cards so my limit is fairly low. When we get the league going however, I feel that if we set the budget at a fairly modest number, it will be more inviting to new players, so keep that in mind.
As far as not being able to attend every week, thats perfectly fine. Real world leagues allow players to get their games in whenever possible.
Quite honestly i dont know how clans work on Mtgo. I wouldsay just add everyone to your buddy list and message them for games. I think theyre is an option for group chat but i have to look into it. Ill check on it after work today.
Since we have at several players interested, ( although only two people logged on tonight!) I added a poll for our league budget. I set the numbers fairly low for two reasons. First tickets go farther than dollars. Second, I wanted it to be inviting for anybody to join. If anyone has any suggestions about how to go about running it or can help with logistics, let me know. Also looking for ideas for a clan name for us as it may help with communications and setting up games.

Just a few clarification: What time zone are we talking about when we say 6? And what is the budget limit (if there is one)?
