MTG Salvation

Currently this but needs some changes to make it sweeter.

So, the guy who runs my lgs very kindly gave me another two Banisher priests which was epic.

The deck I ended up using was this.



First game was against Izzet Burn/Tokens. Running loads of burn spells, Battlefield Thaumaturge and Young Pyromancer with Spellheart Chimera as a finisher. First game went quickly with me getting Soldier of the Pantheon, Boros Elite and Loyal Pegasus out quickly and battling him down to 4 health before losing them all to burn spells. I then drew 7 land in a row. And lost.
I won the second game by smashing down two Evangels and over running wih tokens, lost the third game to a spellheart chimera going over the top of me. Should probably have made some sideboard changes! So bad admin on my part.

Score 1-2 & 0-1

Match 2 was better, against a U/W flying deck. Game one ended once Elspeth followed by Evangel came down, I lost game 2 to a double striking chimera :/ and game 3 ended much the same as game 1. Only with twice as many tokens.

Score 3-3 & 1-1

Match 3 was a tough one against Boros Aggro, first game my opponent mulliganed down to 5 and a combination of Boros Elite, Loyal Pegasus and Soldier of the Pantheon ended the game in quick time. Game 2 ended with a loss, I got badly burnt and again failed to draw the cards needed to beat through with every creature being countered by a burn spell. Game 3 was back on track with a full board of tokens and a bestowed eidolon of countless battles managing to brave the elements and swing in for lethal.

Score 5-4 & 2-1

Match 4 was against B/R Minotaurs. Game one my opponent mulligans down to 5, and every time he dropped a creature I dropped a Banisher priest and swung for lethal pretty quickly. Game 2 was even faster with Soldier of the Pantheon breaking through a board full of Ragemonger and Kragma Warcaller Result 2-0.

Score 7-4 & 3-1

Overall I'm pretty happy with this, I should have side boarded in Hundred Handed alone in the first match but losing the first one meant I missed out on the top tier decks (notably a mono green devotion, U/G nasty hydra thingy & I believe Mono B Devotion)

Ended up 3rd overall out 10 players with by far the cheapest deck there. As a side note, the Izzet player went on to win so I don't feel too bad!!

Good for you. I'd side celestial flare too. Also reprisal.

My play set of Banisher priests is en route in the Royal Mail, so I should see it shortly after M14 rotates out. In the last FNM I found that about 45% of the time I was frantically trying to stall the board and unable to be pro-active. I'm not sure if that's limited by the cards I have available or if I'm just bad at strategy!

Looking at cards I could add post M15 I'm intrigued by Preeminent Captain, Raise the Alarm and Soul of Theros. Seraph of the Masses also looks like it could do some work in this deck and maybe I could even find a home for Triplicate Spirits. It just depends on the costs involved!

M14 will rotate in several months. I'd hope it isn't that slow. Of the cards you mentioned, mostly raise the alarm.

You've never had the pleasurable experience of meeting the Royal Mail Postal Ninjas. Raise the Alarm does look like a useful card.

Have you tried out Launch the Fleet? Great card if adding in Seraph of the Masses

I may just next time I manage to get down to my lgs. It would work well with Seraph of the Masses and Eidolon of Countless Battles. Lots of synergy is a good thing. Especially a bestowed eidolon on a seraph
