Sure you could but the deck is mono black devotion (a slower deck), not mono black aggro (or something else where the life matters more) and colorless costs still exist with black being a common enough color that you'll miss as often as you hit. It should really only work with any semblance of half consistency with the most greedy sorts of decks that also happen to have stuff not on color. Let's do a quick list.
Mono blue devotion - Funny enough doesn't make them miss anything except double blue on turn 2. If they were on the play, they don't even miss the turn 3 nightveil specter drop. They take a few hits but they're on the aggro end of it, not on attrition and you're not really racing them so...
Mono black devotion - They shrug.
Rx aggro - They shrug and laugh because you wasted time.
Aggro in general - They shrug and laugh because you wasted time.
RW burn - They shrug.
UW control - Will hurt them a little. Not likely to miss color requirements.
Esper control - You'll just give them a bit more of a usable color. No big deal, really. They will still generally hit the numbers fine enough. What would you be cutting for this? The creatures that make your devotion run or your removal?
RG monsters - Won't miss colors. Generally fine. Will likely pay a little but the life isn't paramount for mono black devotion.
There's obviously others decks out there but I'm just hitting the big bases. Like I said, he's not scrambling for filler space. The deck is doing prettymuch fine in terms of getting the big bases down and with enough budget to make the thoughtseize count 3. So prettymuch a normal mono black devotion with one less thoughtseize and no mutas. What there is even remotely worth cutting for contaminated ground? I can't think of a thing. Its terrible against aggro and if my meta were control heavy, I'd just shift some of my removal package to add more duress in mainboard. Contaminated ground wouldn't even reach the consider list because there's better stuff available.
