The scariest decks I see transitioning from the current meta:
Gb Stompy (AssTro + SLC)
Rw Aggro (Chainwhirler + Burn + R/W filler)
UWR Control (Current UW with a nearly free splash for burn)
UR Tempo (UR Wizards + much improved counter/burn)
I think there are going to be a ton of people trying to force GB Midrange and Grixis Tapout, but those seem way meta-dependant.
Green black stompy
Red wizard burn
RW aggro
Sultai Midrange
Grixis Midrange
Abzan midrange
Esper control
Jeskai control
Aggro is always dominate after new rotation. Flame of keld decks will crush new unpolished strats.
Control players will take a while to adjust their decks to life after gearhulk and will lose games at the beginning. Teferi is easy prey with printing of assasin’s trophy and should no longer be relied as a win con.
Grixis lost the scarab god but picked up izzet shenanigans, and sultai is stacked and probably the most powerful color combo in the format. I expect these two color combos to be jockeying for position at the top.
Abzan and naya seem interesting as selysnia has a lot of utility, but the format is chocked full of good removal and counterspells are going to be important this format.
My own hopes, other than Sultai, are some sort of wizard tribal and Steel Leaf Stompy going crazy. They both look like they could be really good.
Steel Leaf Stompy losing Heart of Kiran and Skysovereign are pretty big blows though. Those vehicles just gave the deck that extra bit of range in the air. The loss of versatility is a big loss.
Abzan, Naya, and Bant Midrange are all possibilities, it just take some time to figure them out.

I expect a Sultai Deck that is mostly Green to dominate so maybe even just GBu. Green Stompy was already fine but with its biggest threats crippled in Rb Aggro losing most of its best cards besides Chainwhirler and UWx Control looking at not great UR Removal options for them Izzet and a poor mana base especially if tries to go ESPER. I think the Mostly Green deck is in prime position being bolstered by strong Golgari and Dimir Cards. The only downside is no vehicles it really loses a lot in terms of Flying Power but it does have Doom Whisperer. So yeah a Mostly Green Stompy deck will be on top as it can take cards from the two strongest guilds in my book.
I think you can chain together a decent Red Deck but the top end has really been crippled with the loss of Chandra, Hazoret and Glorybringer and token strategies are week to Chainwhirlers and Ritual of Soot or Clarion wrecking a bunch of weak creatures.
Abzan, Naya, and Bant Midrange are all possibilities, it just take some time to figure them out.
I think Bant will be very weak until the next set as it only has 1 shockland out of 3 where some of the other ones (Naya, Abzan, Sultai) have 2. I'm really trying to push either GW Angels, Abzan Knights, or White Not-So-Weenie
Stompy is definitely going to splash black to get access to Assassin's Trophy. They might even use Ochran Assassin so the big stompy creatures can swing in without being blocked.
